I guess that's the story you got from your buddy KO. I'd expect him to tell it that way. Too bad for him he went on to suck at Northwestern. A good coach tells their boss to shove it when they find a better gig.

Actually, that's the story John Ward and Pat Summit tell. If you got an issue, take it up with them. While you're tell some lies about what you think you know about what's gone on at UT over the years. My dogs know more than you do.

If Pearl took the same jobs in the same situation as O'Neill took them, his record would look much, much different. Also, Pearl will never, ever even sniff an NBA job.

Kevin O'Neill agrees (on who chose for him to leave, don't know about his opinion on the knowledge of hat's dogs),

The player's name was Isiah Victor. The issue was whether he should have been eligible to play. O'Neill said yes. Doug Dickey, Tennessee's athletic director at the time, said no. And that was that.

O'Neill left Tennessee after three seasons to become the coach at Northwestern. It wasn't even a lateral move.

"I acted young and immature and left before I should've," O'Neill said. "I made a mistake at the time."

Clearly if O'Neill took over a 15-13 Milwaukee squad he would get them to the sweet sixteen. His record certainly bears that out.

So you think O'Neil would've took Pearl's situation he was in when he first got here, got TN a #2 seed, beat Florida twice, and brought excitement back to the fan base that first year?

The message is pretty clear when the athletic director tells you to either follow the rules set by him or leave and the coach takes a demotion job in a basketball wasteland. It's really not hard to see what happened.

Sure, Pat Summitt tried to talk him out of it, but the writing was on the wall.

But this thread is about what a great coach O'Neill is, right?

I have no idea. That's not what I was saying. I was saying if Pearl had taken over programs in the dumpster like KO has, his record would be much different. That's all.
