Bruce Pearl is a better basketball coach than Kevin O'Neill

Also to all of this "O'Neill is great because he was in the NBA:" Is it really great to brag about the Toronto Raptors hiring him with their history of personnel moves and coaching records? Kinda like saying Kiffin is better than any coach in CFB that hasn't been asked to be in the NFL because he got a job with the Raiders.

If/when Pearl is gone I am really hoping that after the fallout period that the average IQ of the board goes up 10 points.
You're underselling the improvement. The exit of the "Everybody lies" crowd and the "Bruce Pearl IS UT basketball" bunch is worth at least a 20 point jump.

I'm not going to defend Jerry Green. I have never said he was a good coach. The jobs I'm talking about Green getting are Oregon and UT.

Hold up. The extent of your absurdity in this thread has been tied solely to winning. Green did. WTF? You just making things up?

I have no idea. That's not what I was saying. I was saying if Pearl had taken over programs in the dumpster like KO has, his record would be much different. That's all.

Lets throw out the "whos better" question and ask, if KO is a great coach then why can he only get dumpster jobs?

If you get a head job in the NBA, you're an elite tactician.

Was Tennessee not in the dumpster?

Was UWM not in the same situation?

1995 Steve Antrim 3–24
1995–1996 Ric Cobb 9–18
1996–1997 Ric Cobb 8–20
1997–1998 Ric Cobb 3–24
1998–1999 Ric Cobb 8-19
1999–2000 Bo Ryan 15-14
2000–2001 Bo Ryan 15–13

That was the record before Bruce got there.

The USC job is a good job. The Arizona gig is a fantastic job. The Toronto Raptors is a job that about 95+% of coaches in the NCAA would take. I'm not saying he's the best coach of all time, but you're kidding yourself if you think he isn't solid.

Looks like to me Bo Ryan did the heavy lifting.

Bo Ryan to Bruce Pearl.........I don't know if I could think of a bigger scheme change for players to go throug hthan that.

That said, looks like Ryan did a heckuva job getting them out of the dumpster.

He never won anything close to what pearl has. He didn't win at Oregon or UNC Asheville either. Pearl has won at every stop.

And he led them all to .500 records.

Oh yeah those 4th and 5th place finishes in conference by Ryan over 6th the year before really brought them from the dumpster and led them 3 straight NCAAs and a 4th after Pearl left Jeter the players.

Bo Ryan is an absolute Hell of a coach. If I remember correctly, Bruce's best players in his Sweet 16 year were Redshirt Seniors that Bo Ryan recruited. Pearl need a nice job, but Ryan gets some credit for that as well.

You're making crap up. He won at UT at a damn similar clip to Pearl. Even had a similar sweet 16 disaster. We fired him for his Ws. What gives?

The team won 34 games in the 5 years prior to Ryan taking over. He won 29 in two.

If you can't respect that then I've got nothing to say.

Buzz did the heavy lifting here?

He provided CLo, JJSmith, and the lone PG of Pearl's tenure. Since his recruits left, we've moved South and apparently started cheating / lying to the AA.

If south gets us a free throw from the final 4, I'm going down.
