Bruce Pearl Left Toilet Bowl Full Of Turds As A Parting Gift

Need to ask the BBall experts, which is it, our players have no buisness on a SEC roster or is it coaching? I watched the first half last night and they didn't look bad. I hate the offense they were running, whatever happened to working the ball down low into the paint?

There are three SEC players on this roster right now. McRae, Maymon, and Richardson. That's it.

Do I agree there have been a couple times where Martin hasn't done a good job (APSU specifically). Of course. Especially in basketball.

This is just like Dooley's first year. It's going to be an extremely long season. But a lot of it won't be because of Martin.

Also, this team is a horrible passing team. It doesn't help they don't make good entry passes that lead to TO's.

Just disputing the fact that Martin has a bunch of scrubs, because nothing is further from the truth. And there is no way you can tell at this point whether there is a Lofton or Smith on this team at this point, ignorant statement. Most of the team are underclassmen, so for all we know McRae(who shows a lot of promise) could end up in the NBA 3 years from now.

I can name three quality SEC players right now on this team. Hall, Tatum, and Golden suck. And they are better than the other options.

That makes my point even more, because 2005 team was a heck of a lot better than last years team.

what point are you trying to make? It's obviously different than mine yet you keep quoting my posts.

you lose the best 2 players from last season off of what wasn't a very good team anyway and people expect CCM to coach his way out of that hole.

You can't compare football to basketball, it is a heck of a lot easier for Martin to fill out a team with a couple of superstars to turn it around versus a whole football team. Obviously Tatum is a SEC player since he has been here 4 years, and others such as Golden, Miller, and 6-9 244 Makanjuola are easily SEC players if they get coached up.

Every coach deals with losing player, Martin is no different than 100 other coaches out there. My point is it is ignorant to say that last years team was so good because obviously it wasn't given the results and this years team are trash because I guarantee you they were be recruited from other schools in the SEC as well. If you think losing Scotty was that big of deal, I assume you weren't one of the UT fans complaining about his lack of consistency. If you are going to give Martin a chance, you have to give the players a chance as well to grow.

Last years team was crappy because of the NCAA black cloud.

I believe there are five top 75 players on that roster, which Pearl left, and three being top 50. Enough to beat freakin Austin Peay for Pete's sake.

Odd that those players games regress, but the boy from Greeneville (unranked) that no one wanted turns into a stud player and plops 23 on his state school.

Buzz Peterson had Lofton and CJ Watson. Watson an NBA pg he had for three years, and couldn't get to the NCAA.

It's obvious watching this team that they have no identity. Defense is wretched. Pace is always dictated to them.

ok I still have no idea what you're talking about

1) Martin did not lose any players. He walked into a program that wasn't good the previous year and then lost its best 2 players. He wasn't left with much to work with at all

2) Never said last year's team was good

3) I said losing the best 2 players on the team was big. Scotty was one of 2 those players

4) The players haven't grown consistently since they've been here. That includes both coaches they played under

regress? When were they ever that good? Sadly these players are doing the same things they've done since they arrived

I love how people say Bruce wouldn't do any better with this team but correct me if I'm wrong. Didnt he have two decent guard recruits coming in before he was fired and Martin couldn't keep them? Plus here is the best "he said, they said" argument: I'm not so sure Tobias and Scotty were locks to leave of Bruce didn't leave.

The point I'm making is Bruce was gonna restock a good deal of our needs. Martin couldn't go out an recruit and look at our team now. Bruce didn't leave it bare. It's that way now because he got canned and Martin couldn't keep those two guys(for the love of anything) I can remember their names.

If he cared he would make adjustments during the game
instead of the same ole, same ole. Truth is he has no idea how to coach this team.

Care to share with us what qualifies you to make this assessment? IMO, there's no way you can say this guy can't coach yet, but then again, I have some perspective like most informed fans

I still think the big one you told the other day was quite funny.

He had two guard recruits coming in that didn't even qualify. We were literally going to have 7-8 players on our roster this year. If you think we'd be doing anything considerably better, you're blind.

But what did I say in the second paragraph? IMO Harris and Hopson wait more than 2 days to decide on their future. After Bruce was fired they said see ya. I will always agree to disagree but I believe is Bruce is here Harris and Scotty are still in orange and white.

If we are playing like this after two years of Martin, then we can rightfully complain.

I just can't believe nine games into a tenure of a BASKETBALL COACH, and he is getting crucified.

Actually, sadly, I can believe it.

Sure you can. You know as well as I do this place is chock block full of clueless idiots

Scotty was gone regardless. Go back and read some of his comments from before the SECT. He wanted out.

I also highly doubt that Tobias would have turned down 1st round money to play for a lame duck coach.

So your saying don't even bother trying to talk to the biggest leaders on your team? Don't bother. It's no use. I'm just gonna let them walk and say to hell with it. Lord knows there has never been someone told they couldn't convince someone to do something but they do somehow manage to do it

Blind leading the blind....

Pearl would not have had 7-8 players on the roster. That's just foolish. Pearl was a wizard at finding someone during the spring signing period to come in....Ramar, Goins, Maze, JP, T. Smith. Does anyone not remember the last 6 years at all....Geez

My perspective is based on his team folding in losing four games in a row, 6 of the last 7, and back to loses to APU and CoC.

Now is really a bad time to go all high mighty on asking people how they can judge Martin. He is flat out stinking it up.

I just hope he can pull it together at some point soon. If he loses this team completely and the fans bail out on him, our basketball program is in big trouble.

Just like he did against Missouri State. Just like he still took us to the NCAA tourney last year.

Didn't know Missouri State had 2 McDonald's All-Americans in the starting lineup last year. Martin actually outcoached Pearl that night but Pearl squeaked by because of superior talent.

Pearl's team last year made it to the NCAA on its SOS. They started the season playing gangbusters and then went into the tank.
With the talent he had last year the loss to Michigan was far more embarrassing than anything we've witnessed this season. I'd rather he had passed on the tournament.
