Bruce Pearl Suspended

I'm sure you are perfect, and learned from every mistake you made to the point where you never once made the same mistake twice.
I love how people act like lying to the governing body of your program is just some minor slip in judgment.

Cheating on someone for a pretty substantial time? No, I've never done that. Nor would I.

Hopefully this will be a perfect opportunity for the team to now rally around Coach Pearl and play for him in his absence, just to send a message that he's still OUR coach, and that he's making a huge difference in the lives of the players. Coach Jones, in my opinion, will hold things together while he's away, but this season should be for Bruce.

The argument that we shouldn't fire Bruce because we wouldn't be able to find a better coach is just plain ignorant. The issue of finding a better coach is irrelevant. Bruce has committed major violations, and Hamilton's blind loyalty to Pearl continues to embarrass the University of Tennessee.

I don't care who the next coach is, so long as Bruce is gone. It's time to start fresh.

I"m late to the party ITT...

#1. Pearl did some dumb stuff with the BBQ.
This isn't why he is being punished, the lieing to the NCAA is.

#2. What is the precedent for a conference taking action on a coach for violating NCAA rules?

Not sure there is one or that it matters.

#3. Isn't it kind of well known that the SEC administrators (aka the good ol boy club) dislike Pearl?[/QUOTE]

News to this good ol boy.

Kind of sickening. Seriously, people. It wasn't like the NCAA raided his house, handcuffed him, put a gun to his head, and asked if he had the BBQ. The meeting was planned. Bruce had time to decide what he would do. Bruce decided he was going to lie. It wasn't a decision he had to make in ten seconds. He had time. Bruce had the intention to lie to the NCAA. Oh, he also then came clean about the lie...two months later.

Actually Slive is smart to cover his tail. He was over the appeals process for the NCAA so he knows what it takes to limit the punishment for a money maker in his conference.

Slive does not care about UT BB as a money maker. Its also hard to cover your tail when the ****e has hit the fan then you start trying to be Mr. Tough guy.

He's fighting for his job so he decided to hit UT. In the end his punishment will amount to nothing, the NCAA will not be swayed by it and we end up losing our coach for 8 games on the whim of an idiot.

Oh, here we go. You get proved wrong with stats, and then you start with bashing. Typical hatvol.
Where are your stats showing how "everyone" thought Buzz was a great coach? Oh, that's right. You're just another knownothing whose closest connection to basketball is the Junior Pro coach who lives next door, but is an expert on what people inside the game think.

Spending more money doesn't guarantee you will get a good coach. It will, however, get better players. Just ask Lowder.

I'm saying it isn't the basketball graveyard people make it out to be if Bruce left.

But Calapari at Kentucky can try to get a player from Turkey that got paid and Slive says nothing. Great:thumbsup:

Did they cheat? No. He was ruled ineligible. They complied with the NCAA. How is that cheating?

What people inside the game think? Let me guess you are touting your anonymous great basketball knowledge with all your "sources." Why you so mad, just admit you were wrong about Appy St. and ignoring the fact that Tulsa lost quite a bit from that Elite 8 team. Many felt like Buzz was an up and coming coach. Also, when did you beging to dislike Pearl? Was it from the beginning?

Never said it was a minor slip in judgement. It doesn't mean he is a bad person or a pathological liar and deserves to be burned at the stake either.

If money was all it took to get a good coach, UT would have had more success in men's basketball than it has

If the school dedicates the resources, it absolutely can have a consistent top 20 program. It is all about what they are willing to pay.

Rule? No. History? Yes. Actually, it was more than 3 incompetents.
Yeah, we really paid the going rate to hire Houston, Green, and Peterson. I love people acting like paying K Mart wages had nothing to do with our awful basketball hires.
