I"m late to the party ITT...
#1. Pearl did some dumb stuff with the BBQ.
This isn't why he is being punished, the lieing to the NCAA is.
#2. What is the precedent for a conference taking action on a coach for violating NCAA rules?
Not sure there is one or that it matters.
#3. Isn't it kind of well known that the SEC administrators (aka the good ol boy club) dislike Pearl?[/QUOTE]
News to this good ol boy.
I love how people act like lying to the governing body of your program is just some minor slip in judgment.
Actually Slive is smart to cover his tail. He was over the appeals process for the NCAA so he knows what it takes to limit the punishment for a money maker in his conference.
Where are your stats showing how "everyone" thought Buzz was a great coach? Oh, that's right. You're just another knownothing whose closest connection to basketball is the Junior Pro coach who lives next door, but is an expert on what people inside the game think.Oh, here we go. You get proved wrong with stats, and then you start with bashing. Typical hatvol.
But Calapari at Kentucky can try to get a player from Turkey that got paid and Slive says nothing. Great:thumbsup:This is an SEC suspension, not from NCAA.

Mike Slive: I am extremely disappointed in the nature of the violations involving Coach Pearl and the Tennessee mens basketball program."
