Fanbase and money haven't changed significantly in the last 20+ years. It was always present in Knoxville. As for recent success, we had that when Jerry Green left and it did not translate to Peterson AT ALL. Our "recruiting base" is due to Pearl, so there is absolutely no guarantee we hold on to that Base without CBP. I will concede that the facilities have definitely imporived.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think CBP is the only coach who can be successful at UT, but it's certainly not a slam dunk (pun intended) that any coach be successful.
If the concept that paying competitive wages greaty increases your chances of hiring talented personnel is so revolutionary to you, being smarter than you is no great feat.
zjc, you are all over the map bro! We had the facilities, the fanbase, the money with ONeill, Green and Buzz....um, how successful were we?
I disagree with the recruiting base and the success, upgrading of the facilities and increased fanbase are all due to Bruce.
I'm not saying that Bruce is the ONLY coach that can be successful, but too many UT fans think the next hire WILL produce instant success that Bruce had. It may happen but history and odds say that it won't.
pearl has had contract in his lawyers hands for several weeks. hold up is Bruce, not UT
If UT is waiting on Pearl to sign the contract in its latest draft, they better not hold their breath.
Let me slow it down for you pumpkin. I said paying competitive wages is not the ONLY thing that will bring taleted personnel to UT. Is that greaty enough for you?
I like you challenging my intellegence right after you either misspelled greatly, or aren't smart enough to proof read your own work. You choose.
He has for us is the problem with your post. Transcendent means better, superior, unequaled or unmatched. Who else took us to the elite eight at UT? I don't have a blind loyalty. I see what is happening. I never said he shouldn't be fired. I just am saying it would be a bigger risk and more costly than keeping him. We have a good coach who, by all indications, wants to be here. And because of the cut in his salary due to what has happened, we actually have him at a better deal.
