Bruce Pearl Suspended

There are a lot of really dumb people on this board.

1. The NCAA could decide that the combination of UT's self-imposed penalties and the penalties from the SEC are sufficiently severe and not impose any further punishment.

OR

2. The NCAA could decide that the combination of UT's self-imposed penalties and the penalties from the SEC are not sufficiently severe. If this is the case, they will tack on additional punishment. But OF COURSE the penalties imposed by the University and the SEC are going to be taken into consideration.

I mean, Jesus tap-dancing Christ, how else do you think it would work?

most of the college insiders don't think it's severe enough. i hope we don't get crushed. but they said they are going to put the ftball, baseball, and bball all together in one big investigation against ut institutional control.

So we just throw out two million and see what big name
and proven coach grabs the hook. When we first hired Pearl and the first thing he did was kick our best big off the team I thought he was out of his mind. When we gave him a big raise after the first year I thought we should have been more patient and wait to see if he could coach or if his first year was just a fluke. He has proved he can coach and the man really loves Tennessee.
He is the best coach we have had in the more than fifty
years I have been going to watch Tennessee basketball.

GBO

Did he love Tennessee when he knowingly and willfully violated bylaws of the 'AA, and later lied about it......and only after the players in question had already rolled over him and he knew he was caught?

That may be the same thing your mom's boyfriend said to excuse his drunken behavior the night before, but that ain't love, brother.

For all of those rushing to defend Pearl - you do realize that he did this, right? He did it to himself, the University, the SEC, the team, the fans....and everyone else involved with or who cares about Tennessee, right?

Slive did Pearl-lovers a favor today, really....as its hoped to be one more reason to make the 'AA feel it unnecessary to hit him with a one-year suspension and a multi-year post-season ban OR BOTH, neither of which could he hope to survive. Now, how successful it proves to be in dissuading them from further hammering him / us is yet to be seen.....but that's what they hope, and was intended. I don't think it will be nearly sufficient - and that he'll end up with on or the other.

Who is saying that?

Suspect timing by Slive, but the right decision.

I can understand people wanting Pearl fired, but come on. First things first. Hamilton has to go. You don't want him making another hire at UT.

More likely we have two openings at once.

The AD spot will be filled first.

I think it hilarious that people think firing an AD and a head coach is a good thing. Personally, I seriously doubt either will happen.

Chemotherapy is poisonous, but necessary to beat cancer.

Maybe it won't happen. Don't bet on it.

Pearl should and needs to stay. He brought a passion back to the men's basketball program. Yea he lied, and he knows he made a mistake. I'm going to go out on a limb and say we all have made the same mistake in our own lives. Its time to rally behind him and show him our support.
I was thinking the same thing at first but no longer. He, like Fulmer, is not bigger than the program, nor is Hamilton. The only thing I know for sure is Hamilton went to school in Ohio that several AD's graduated f. I was talking to a guy last year who happens to be on the NCAA academic committee, an AD at a smaller very successful B=ball school up north (actually stayed over a few nights)and I know they won't put up with the nonsense. Watch and see.

Maybe its me, but your post was hard to follow.

I think he's saying that CBP isn't bigger than the men's basketball program, and we shouldn't tolerate this kind of behavior.

I got that part, but the whole thing about where Hamilton went to school and a friend of a friend's 3rd cousin told him something is where I got lost.

First hint of justice comes down! A wonderful day in Big Orange Country! I hope the NCAA suspends him for a year and post season ban so it will force UT to fire Bruce! He is a liar and a cheater and needs to be treated as such! One step closer to me embracing the basketball vols once more!

Ignorant.
