Bryan Harsin Fired

The ESPN writers covering this (Thamel, Toppleburg) have their lists. If you're the brand new AD are you going to bet your career on Kiffen? Tough call.

I don't know why I didn't think about it, Matt Ruhle would be a great choice, but I wonder if he is going to want to go somewhere that is run by 2 or 3 boosters.

The real problem is that you have to live in Auburn. I really don't see how Kiffen could be happy there long term. There is no major city press corp hanging on your every word. Auburn, Alabama versus his dream job in L.A. (USC is still his dream). Night and day.

Wonder how Layla is doing.

I just don’t see why Kiffin makes the jump when there isn’t a realistic salary Auburn can give him that ole miss can’t match.

He makes 7.5 million now. Ole miss would match up to $10m. I think Kiffin is good coach but is Auburn going to pay next coach over $10m? I doubt it

It's not just money. Ego. He can't win a title at Ole Miss. If he thinks he can win one at Auburn then that's the motivation

I think the Can’t win at Ole Miss is getting less and less. He’s on verge of winning 10 games back to back seasons for first time ever. Also we are expanding playoff.

Maybe having Auburn job after 2 years gets him higher performance than ole miss but no coach is walking into that program and turning it around in 1-2 seasons without a major overhaul of the donor class. That’s why White and Heupel were so fast in turning things around. Auburn booster has firm control. No turnaround happens without that guy being told to buzz off

Mark Stoops makes $6m/year at UK, increasing to $8m/year by the end of the deal, and he gets automatic one-year extensions with each 7-win season. Top 15 salary in the country. He'd be an idiot to leave that job. There is no job in the country with a better stress/salary ratio.
But he did get into a twitter pissing match with Cal, so there is an ego there that UK will never passify.

Mark Stoop’s next home.

If he’s smart.

No way. Stoops is making bank at a place where they already want to put up a statue of him in front of Commonweal...I'm sorry Kroger Field. His ceiling is probably a NY6 Bowl Game.

He goes to Auburn he'll be eaten alive and gone. That fanbase wouldn't put up with losing to South Carolina at home, nor would they probably put up with sleepwalking against MAC teams.

And Auburn would be stupid to get him. They need a home run hire or at least a triple. Stoops is not that.

depends on how Stoops thinks himself. Is he okay with “comfortable” or does he have a fire inside and wants a new challenge as he realizes he’s reached the peak at his current job?

Stoops went 10-3 with a "heralded" QB returning for another year. I'm sure he thought he could challenge for another 10 win season.... But given the let down season they are having, his stock taking a hit. At 55 years old, not sure he is ready to make a jump to a job with higher expectations.

I'm wondering if UAB might want to go after Harsin. The interim who replaced Bill Clark isn't faring well.

Not sure. He seems to coach scared sometimes, which is why I don't think he'd make the leap to a top shelf coaching gig.

Hell, I wouldn't be shocked if Colorado or Arizona State give him a call.
I think he would be a good fit at a school like that. He seems like a solid coach, and the players at Auburn never quit on him.
He never had a chance at Auburn with the deck stacked against him.

I wonder if Auburn would go after Jamey Chadwell from Coastal. To me would be a good hire for them, innovative offense. Good play caller, winner. If the boosters give him more than a year I think he can turn it around there. Surprised he hasn’t gotten a P5 job yet.
