Bryce Brown allegedly on campus at UT, allegedly leaving Kan St (merged)

He's got two years of eligibility left after this year. You moved Neal to WR. You can use a back next year with Lane.

He would have to sit next year. Now if the NCAA let him use this year to sit (since he has barely seen the field in 2 games) as a bargin by taking a year of his eligibility , that would leave him with 2 years to play. Even then it's a stretch. Alot of people say he would start here , but who knows if he would do the same here as he did at K-State? It would take alot of work and that is something Bryce hasn't done alot of.

Roughly half of his yards came in garbage time against WKU and Ohio. So technically he only ran for 200 or so in the SEC in 9 games.

Still more than Imani Cross. Not too mention he was behind Hardesty (second back in SEC that year) and was injured.

If he is a walk on, wouldn't that change things?

I'm not gonna lie. I want Bryce Brown back on the Tennessee football team.

Just because seeing volnation blow up would be epic.

Durability is part of being a good back. I am not saying that he is a bad back. I would welcome him. I am just saying that he is about as unproven as Imani Cross.

I would love to have him back as well, but I just don't see it happening.

I hope it isn't just a coincidence that he is at UT that soon. I think he could come in and help out our run game. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

He's not.

Lane is going to be the #1 back next year. Yet you want to have a good backup RB. Bryce Brown would be a good backup RB with his mind right.

I could care less if he came back or not, but IIRC he never said or did anything to disrespect UT. Maybe he has finally grown up and realized the folks around him were looking out for themselves and not him. CDD never lied to this kid and tried to help. Hope he gets his life toghether and is happy with whatever he does. You guys seem to forget these are kids we talk about, not grown men. You ever made a bad decision?? Know i have

I don't think he would help out this year. But let's say he comes in next week, is a walk on, works with the scout team, and plays next year. He could help with next year's team. I like Tom Smith. I like Imani Cross. What happens if Lane gets hurt? You want four running backs.

Let him walk on, be a tackling dummy/water boy for a year. Then his sr year you let him off the leash.

Good post.

He was 18-19 year olds. Very few people that age don't listen to your parents, especially when your dad is saying "Hey, you need to come home."

I don't believe so. Did he not walk on at K-State and pay his own way last season because he didn't get a release? Even then he still had to sit.

I think he would have to sit out another , unless something is worked out with the NCAA because of playing time. That's doubtful IMO.

I don't know, that's why I am asking. Thanks. :hi:

I just think that a guy that can't crack the 3 deep at Kansas St. might have a hard time doing the same here. His best football years may be behind him. Plus who's to say Tom Smith is not that guy. Don't forget about him.

I feel like for his whole life, he's been pulled in a lot of different directions. Hopefully he finds a place to stay for awhile.

Is he not playing for Kansas St. this season?

He's on the roster. Currently 3rd string I believe.

It would not surprise me one bit if that greener grass didn't work out for his dear ol' dad... and now he's seen the light.

OTOH, if he cannot start at K-State... I am not sure what value he has for UT.

Well he wasn't on schlorship , so he paid his own way making him a walk on. Still he had to sit , so I believe that would be the case if he tries to come back to Tennessee.

He's 20. Unless he has a severe injury, he didn't forget how to run.

A hypothesis here:

What if he hates Kansas State, never wanted to be there to begin with, and only there to make his dad happy. You think he's going to be 100% committed? No.

I do not really question the kid himself. There is no question that people including his own father have been using him. I doubt Snyder has lied to him either. As best as I can tell, he's a pretty straight up guy too.

The question in my mind is value. The rumor was that BB didn't deserve PT over Poole based on practice performance. He was Kiffin's guy, #1 recruit, and all that. Kiffin used him for publicity but would have much rather had him start over Hardesty. If BB was close he probably would have.

I have nothing at all against him. He has great size/speed/power... all the natural talent. However I personally never saw refined "skill".

Many of the same people dissing Poole who posted numbers vs the better teams UT played last year thought and maybe think that BB is "the answer". However, most of his stats came in junk time or against bad teams.

His current status for KSU seems to confirm that he is not yet a very good college RB.

And all of you that are saying he is over rated are just idiotic. If he had stayed, he would be our number one back right now.

That being said, he may have gotten bad reviews behind this line. Emmitt Smith, Eddie George and Chris Johnson couldnt run behind this line.

Got some news for you: Were Bryce Brown still here, he would be our no. 1 back, without question.

These posts made me laugh.

The 3rd or 4th string RB at K-state would be the 1st string RB on an SEC team.

Wow, K-state most be LOADED with talent....

True but, his misadventures might have put him behind the 8 ball so far that maybe is isn't as effective. Remember he did come into camp at KSt out of shape and received very few reps while everyone else work hard and got better. His window of opportunity to perform and try to get paid is 2 years and, he isn't even in a football program now. When that window closes it likely does forever. That is what I meant by it.

I'm not sure CDD or the team would welcome him back. He probably doesn't even want to come back. The whole situation is FUBAR. I just don't see how we can not be open to any opportunity, given that -9 yards rushing last game.
