Bryce Brown allegedly on campus at UT, allegedly leaving Kan St (merged)

He's 20. Unless he has a severe injury, he didn't forget how to run.
There is no real proof he's ever known how to run on the college level.

The only relevant "proof" to that end was one game: the Army AA game. In Kansas HSFB, he was simply that much more athletic than everyone else.

A hypothesis here:

What if he hates Kansas State, never wanted to be there to begin with, and only there to make his dad happy. You think he's going to be 100% committed? No.

Not committed to playing a year then getting paid? Possible but not likely.

These posts made me laugh.

The 3rd or 4th string RB at K-state would be the 1st string RB on an SEC team.

Wow, K-state most be LOADED with talent....

It's ludicrous to think he was making any effort to get on the field at KSU.

No.
Edit: not, not nit.
That's what I think happened. He mailed it in like the Red Sox. Nit saying the sox don't want to be in the playoffs, but they are sure playing that way.

What I hate most is when posters are like "HE should have been a man and told his dad to go away."

Like you as an 18 year old would have said that.

It's a terrible situation. I hope Bryce finds a college HE wants to go to and can get a good education, and play some football if he wants.

Actually.... his dad should have been a man rather than trying to live vicariously through his sons.... or else manipulate them to get rich.

To those who think that BB was not committed at KSU. What makes you think he was committed at UT?

He is just a very average back with a lot of hype due to the fact he had an arrangement wth a handler that knew how to manipulate the high school ranking system. The only reason he got on the field at UT was because of his high school rankings. His effort on the field at UT was very average.

Got some news for you: Were Bryce Brown still here, he would be our no. 1 back, without question.
+1. He looked good to me, in the limited carries he got his freshman season. I thought the situation was his dad was sick or one of their immediate family was, and that was the reason his dad pushed him to stay close to home.

Wonder if he is seeing what he missed and how explosive this offense can be (at least before Hunter got hurt)

True but, his misadventures might have put him behind the 8 ball so far that maybe is isn't as effective. Remember he did come into camp at KSt out of shape and received very few reps while everyone else work hard and got better. His window of opportunity to perform and try to get paid is 2 years and, he isn't even in a football program now. When that window closes it likely does forever. That is what I meant by it.

I gotcha.

But, if he works hard, he can be find. It's really a damn shame, because for a runninback, he has all the tools. He can catch. Great vision, good speed, excellent cutback ability, the size of a workhorse.

It actually makes me mad how his dad basically ruined his life.

Gosh...the more we try to put coach X in the rearview mirror, the more he continues to haunt us and refuse to go away. First the Willie Mack Garza story and now Bryce Brown.

All in one day the **** fest Kiffin had here makes another appearance for yet another time with more violations and God says " Ahh , let's pour it on a little more and give'em more Bryce" .

And all of you that are saying he is over rated are just idiotic. If he had stayed, he would be our number one back right now.

.

Based on?

His stats at UT came vs bad opponents and during "junk time"... like after the Ole Miss game got out of hand. CLK tried to use him for meaningful carries early in the season but it didn't work.

All the criticisms being tossed at Poole right now actually apply to Brown's one season at UT. He did not show vision. He did not show the ability to plant his foot and hit a hole. He did not show quickness. He did not appear to be difficult to tackle.

The one thing he showed on a few occasions was breakaway speed. He's big, strong, and fast.... talented but not skilled.

He may become a great RB. But to date, he's mainly proven he can run over HSFB competition in Kansas.

My point exactly. HE never wanted to be there to begin with. You aren't going to perform when you are at a place you never wanted to be. I don't care what kind of future you have.

I understand he didn't light the world on fire at UT, but he was the #1 player in the country for a reason.

Who said he didn't? He strongly considered KSU before being sold by Kiffin.

I do not really question the kid himself. There is no question that people including his own father have been using him. I doubt Snyder has lied to him either. As best as I can tell, he's a pretty straight up guy too.

The question in my mind is value. The rumor was that BB didn't deserve PT over Poole based on practice performance. He was Kiffin's guy, #1 recruit, and all that. Kiffin used him for publicity but would have much rather had him start over Hardesty. If BB was close he probably would have.

I have nothing at all against him. He has great size/speed/power... all the natural talent. However I personally never saw refined "skill".

Many of the same people dissing Poole who posted numbers vs the better teams UT played last year thought and maybe think that BB is "the answer". However, most of his stats came in junk time or against bad teams.

His current status for KSU seems to confirm that he is not yet a very good college RB.

Wasting a scholarship on BB would be just that, a waste.

Regardless if he's happy he has not put in the work at k state to advance his ability. He's had yet another injury this year and IMO has never been 100% since he was here.
Lastly for all you freaking in the Garza thread need to keep in mind his HANDLER went to the KS offices today, meaning he's still involved.
The kids been through some things but it's time he go somewhere and actually do something more than cause distractions.

From looking at what happened. Who said he was considering K State? Maybe it was his parents/handler?

He's also had more threads created on here than any player for many reasons, few of which were good or had anything to do with production on the field.

Epic potential for this thread. If rumor begins about meeting Dooley... No less than 1,500 posts before the presser

I want this to happen, even if it's not true. I am never for lying journalism, but I want Wes Rucker to say "Just heard Bryce Brown is meeting with Derek Dooley tomorrow morning."

How do you know hes instable? Do you personally know him and his family and what went on when Kiffin left? Do you know what his dad was saying or forcing him to do?

Didnt think so.

Im know backing him up, but you do everything you can to hold on to a #1 overall recruit. Stable or not.

Holding on to the "#1 overall recruit" who isnt producing and in case youve forgotten...didnt want to be here just because some scouting service said hes the best is....well silly to put it nicely.

The hits just keep on rolling.

He's big. He's extremely fast for that size. He's strong.

Every measurable looked good for BB when healthy.

He was also marketed well.

OTOH, he is STILL 3rd string behind a "no name". It was still reported by players and media that Poole outperformed BB in practice.

Go back and look at the Rivals #1 players over the year and also the RB's they've given 5* to. The long and short is they miss sometimes... sometimes badly. I noticed they missed several times on guys they gave 5* to from lesser HSFB states.... like Kansas.

If Derek Dooley waste more than 5 minutes saying anything other than "how ya been" to Bryce Brown , they can all hold hands and kiss my ass. Go find a Running Back coach !

You can't tell that from what happened. You simply can't. There has been some speculation from KSU fans that he has been in Snyder's doghouse but that has not been substantiated.

It was announced in the media that he was also considering KSU. I mainly remember because folks here scoffed at the notion that he'd choose them over UT even as an instate school.

Save Bryce shadowing DD for a week apologizing and asking to walk onto the team and earn a spot he wouldn't get more than that.
