Bryce Brown (CLOSED)

OK now we got Oku, I want everyone's honest opinion. Before we signed Oku what did everyone think about his ability compared to Brown's. I don't think we will get Brown now, cause if Brown was coming here I don't think Oku would have. So is Oku comparable to Brown or is it not even close?
as far as i can tell, they are different styles of RB. DO is an APB. he will run a lot of receiving routes and be more of a reggie bush caliber back. BB will be more of an up the middle caddillac williams type IMO. i don't know. BB has good hands and he is a homerun threat as a receiver too, so i guess i would have to say BB>>DO, but they fill two different roles.

Not even close....In fact, it's not even close to being not even close.

IMO i dont think you can compare the 2. They serve different needs. Honestly i think oku would be baller at kick return and punt return and some backfield screen passses and stuff, whereas BB is a pure rb. dont think the 2 are exclusive, could use both at the same time

thanks for your opinion, I figured with Oku signing someone was going to say that Oku was way better than Brown. So all in all it is good to have either, but Brown was the wild card.

Ok so say Oku puts on about 15 to 20 lbs does that change anything. Assuming he doesn't lose any speed and quickness can Eddie Gran turn him into an everydown back, or am I just wishing too much.

Oku is like a cadilliac williams or kenny irons type
Brown is like a Adrian Peterson....speed/moves of Oku with more size

Could this be a L. White/R. Bush type template? Oku and Brown. Seems to follow the characteristics.

I don't see us landing Brown after getting Oku. It just doesn't seem like they would both go to the same school.

On a second note, I have spoken to some people close to the Brown situation (the people he spent time with on his visit) here at UT and they both do not think Brown is coming.

They said that he loved UT and that his heart is in Knoxville and that he ultimately wants to come to UT. However, he is being pressured by family and his mentor to NOT come to UT. I don't know the reasons why the people close to Brown don't want him to come here, but they are pressuring him to go elsewhere.

Take it for what its worth, but the people I know who spent time with Brown on his visit believe he wont be wearing orange next year.

Hopefully Brown proves them wrong.

I know I am going to get crucified for saying this but I just watched Oku's highlights (I am on the Brown bandwagon) and he looks to me a little like Adrian Foster in his running style in that he runs east and west and turns the corner....with the defences in the SEC with speed will Oku be able to turn the corner? Just an observation...please put down the shotguns...I was not a Foster fan..

Who is Adrian?

Don't mean to question you but where were you about a 2000 posts ago with this insightful info....... Does that list include CLK and Crompton.

I do believe you are right about the pressure close to him and that they are but is there a reason that several responsible/respected posters on both web sights have stated barring a disaster he is a Vol. Is the Oku thing the disaster.

Trust me, I want Bryce Brown as much as anyone. I am counting down the days until he announces, and am hoping he is wearing orange next year.

I know some people that are involved in recruiting and that was their opinion on the issue. I had a discussion with the one person about it yesterday, and that is why I "wasn't there 1000 posts ago". I also know that there were some things involving Brown's visit that Kiffin did not handle very well. I can't get into details but it involves another mistake regarding NCAA rules. It wasn't a recruiting violation and everything was handled by the school.

Some very reliable people are guaranteeing he comes here, and I have no reason to not believe them. I just think its quite odd that Oku announced so randomly. There has to be something going on that we don't know about.

Let's just hope Brown follows his heart and comes here. It's a shame he has so many outside people trying to control his decision.

If the staff can land both Oku and Brown, I think that they would have to be considered GENIUSES considering the time that they have had.

I understand and have a pretty good idea about what the school had to handle.

Without Butler this is a done deal and over. With Butler in the mix it is a circus and not as good for Tennessee. Butler used his influence over Oku to sign early with UT to influence Brown. (Speculation)

I hope in the future when Brown and Oku are in the NFL or have moved on it life that they will tell all the evils of Butler to the NCAA.

Oku did exactly what he said he wanted to do: take some time to re-evaluate his options and get situated academically (which he did by moving to Nebraska). People have had conspiracy theories this entire time since NSD and they were all WRONG. Oku is a good dude and there's nothing odd about this in the least bit. Life is not always as dramatic as people want it to be

This. Well said. :eek:k:

Good point, but put yourself in the situation of Oku..If you have been committed to Tennessee and that is the school you would like to attend, and then all of a sudden the #1 prospect in the nation (who is the same position as you) shows a lot of interest in Tennessee. You evaluate your other options. Strategically, you also could wait to see where the #1 prospect goes and make your choice accordingly.

I don't see why he would be committed to us for so long, back off at the last second, then delay for this long WITHOUT Brown having some effect on the decision.

Regardless, I am happy with Oku and hope we land Brown as well.
