Good point, but put yourself in the situation of Oku..If you have been committed to Tennessee and that is the school you would like to attend, and then all of a sudden the #1 prospect in the nation (who is the same position as you) shows a lot of interest in Tennessee. You evaluate your other options. Strategically, you also could wait to see where the #1 prospect goes and make your choice accordingly.

I don't see why he would be committed to us for so long, back off at the last second, then delay for this long WITHOUT Brown having some effect on the decision.

Regardless, I am happy with Oku and hope we land Brown as well.

Stan Drayton and Trooper Taylor got him thinking.

Just heard John Brice from VQ on the Sports Monster this morning and he said the Oku signing shocked everyone. He said they were betting on BB more than Oku. He said UT is in good standing with Brown and UT could very likely land both these guys.

Like the sound of that!

since we keep bringing up the reggie bush/ lendale white and the ronnie brown/ cadillac williams thing, i am just wondering, why not darren mcfadden/felix jones?
(I know they aren't as relative since our staff doesn't have strong ties to them, but why not?) I also really enjoyed watching lawrence maroney/ marion barber tandem at minnesota

Or Harvey Unga / Fui Vakapuna at BYU!

Oku did exactly what he said he wanted to do: take some time to re-evaluate his options and get situated academically (which he did by moving to Nebraska). People have had conspiracy theories this entire time since NSD and they were all WRONG. Oku is a good dude and there's nothing odd about this in the least bit. Life is not always as dramatic as people want it to be

OKU did what he stated he would do in OCT 08. Not a problem. He has to do what is best for him. Period. Glad he is a VOL.

Butler's connection and involvement with both these players is enough to warrant any theory. He wants this to be about him and will parlay it into a Butler thing versus a Oku/Brown. Why do I say that? Because Butler has done it from day one with both and Butler is a leech that desires the spotlight. It is not a conspiracy theory it is a fact.

I only have flashes of Reggie Cobb in my memory, but I remember the day that Chuck Webb roasted the Hogs in the Cotton Bowl!! Can't remember if it was 89' or 90', but he was definitely awesome.

Hey least Riggs didn't get kicked off the team.... coughCokercough.....

True...not a huge fan of either of them. But youre right atleast Riggs wasnt a pot head. Nonetheless I still thought Riggs was a pretty big bust. But he did have injury problems so yea...

I was actually trying to be funny, but hey I won't argue one bit if we have two different running backs rush for over 1000 yds in the same season. I don't care what their names are and neither of them were kicked off the team.

Link?

I'm not completely sold on Butler being a villain. I'm not defending him either, I really don't know what to make of him. All I know is that so far we are 1 for 1 with Butler's players and I'm not gonna badmouth him yet

totally understand your point with all the hype surrounding him coming out of high school. Having played against him in high school, it seemed like Tennessee staff wanted him to be the next Jamal by putting more mass on him. Unfortunatley, by doing this, Gerald lost his "wiggle" and acceleration that made him what he was. He was once a very elusive runner.

Also I rem. how much his dad whinned about playing time and that just made me dislike him more, lol.

The past couple of years might have been quite different had Coker been able to leave drugs alone.
