I agree with you. I like civil discussions with other fan bases involved with a recruit, to get their perspective as to what that player may think about their school, and why he would fit there.

Some of the stuff has gotten out of line ,and as you say is a pissing contest.

And, we've pissed all over Wheaton' s arguments (note, this is not attacking the person)... so we've won that too ;-).
:eek:lol::eek:lol:

Go Vols! Get BB!

btw... 24 posts to the 5K mark!

Maybe Brown, like many other recruits in the nation, followed them himself and had his own interest.

If that were true, it would be the first sure sign that BB needed help with the decision.

Of course, only 3 4* recruits found Oregon this year. A lot more 2*'s found their home with the Ducks. Butler probably won't even work with them, so they're stuck.

Is that the same "insight" that you were so sure on OC coming here too?

Yes, you are correct. I was wrong. Thank you for pointing me out. My internet cred has taken a huge shot.

If you reread the insight post carefully, I wasn't really sharing my opinion as much as I was having fun with the word insight. :hi:

You seriously are skeptical the SEC has far superior defenses to the Pac-10? ... If the NFL followed your logic, the league would be filled with NAIA players.

Yes. I am skeptical of it. It depends on which team, which year, etc. But, I won't get too far into that since it's getting off topic.

How in hell does this thread continue to turn into an SEC vs PAC 10 or Oregon vs UT debate even though it's been repeatedly said for it not to?

I think it naturally goes there because Brown himself is debating teams that happen to be in the SEC and Pac-10. I have tried to make my comments only as they relate to Brown. But, have at times responded to others making the more versus type of arguments you're referring to. I'll try to ignore those in this thread.

Wheaton, You are the gay guy in a redneck bar ordering milk.

In all my years of going to bars, etc. I can't say that I've encountered any gay guys ordering milk at a redneck bar. You'll have to tell me about that some time. But, not in pm please. I feel like I need you to approach me in a public place on that one. Kinda scary.

He started it. Not trying to run Wheaton off, but he is stating his opinion why Oregon is a good choice for him. And us UT fans are stating our case.

Exactly. I think we agree that this is on-topic and the purpose of public forums.

No, that isn't what's happening. There's no way that debate can take up as many pages as this has. It's become an Oregon/UT comparison thread and it's asinine. If it's not directly related to Bryce Brown, I think you should make a new topic and argue about it there.

It was one page of on-topic where-Brown-fits-best discussion and then 2-3 pages of discussion about what is on-topic. But, anyway, I agree. I'm not really interested in the whole Pac-10 vs SEC thing. It's a tired old subject. But, I (and I believe others here) are interested in where Brown will go and the reasons for why he will choose one place over another. Whether or not it's better for Brown to play in the Pac-10 or SEC is on-topic.

I find it remarkable that your ip addresses have not been banned. You have contributed nothing to this thread.

Speak for yourself. There are others here who do believe that I have contributed and are interested in civil, non-homer perspectives.

Someone do make a thread about it. I would love to debate Weaton on this topic.

Send me a PM and we can take it up from there if it's not Brown-related.

What I would like to know is what is considered off topic? If this thread is strickly for information purposes only, nobody should reply when someone posts information period. For no reason at all. I know that some of these threads get way out in left field, and they shouldn't. But discussing the pros and cons of BB going to UT or Oregon, or any other school is on topic in my opinion.

Exactly.

I think you may have pissed all over your self. But, that's another topic...

Wheaton, again, I hope you don't think I was singling you or anyone else out. A lot of the conversation was on Bryce, but a lot of it wasn't.

Agree or disagree, you are 100x times more civil than most of the other team's fans that come around our communities.

Wheaton has the longest posts in the histroy of VN

Sorry about that. Sometimes a lot is said in reference to me while I'm away.

Thank you for saying. I'm definitely trying to respect the thread and stay on-topic. Some things are just kind of gray area. So, in the future, I will try and err more on the side of directly on-topic.

Sooooo, Bryce Brown. Still undecided. Hope he picks the Vols. Yep, that would be totally boss. And radical.

It's hard to wait until 3/16. At least he isn't declaring on the Ides of March.

Actually, I agree with that, Wheaton.

You're also much more persistent. As a result, you've taken 100x the humiliation any of them ever have--making you one of the best whipping boys we've ever had. :horse:

Stick around. You're great stress relief. Who knew a 2nd tier pac10 team's fan could beat all bammer trolls on that measure? :dance2:

Judging by how often you refer to me when I'm not around posting, I would say that you definitely are my biggest fan. If you send me a SASE I'll have my staff send you a nice letter and free sticker.

Becuz hes ALL VOL

I do appreciate the Vols more than I did a couple weeks ago. But, I'm still all Duck. :)

Anyway, on Brown. I think I've seen all available news. But, could have missed something. Has it been officially announced whether or not he really is going to unofficial to Miami? There isn't much time between now and the 16th to organize that...

No way in hell Bryce goes to LSU. It's us or Miami.

I think he dumped Oregon before he decided on whether to visit LSU or USC.

If he was going Pac-10, he would have gone with the Trojans. The visit to LSU was to explore the SEC in more detail. It helped convince him that this is the best league in football, the best stage to showcase his talents, and the best route to National Championships.

He could smell the one they had at LSU--and could see that a Vols team was only one pick 6 from that championship squad wasn't exactly a bare cupboard. The national title comes through the SEC--and while it's not in our sights for the 2009 season (Gators are too strong this year), Kiffin and Company are putting together a cast that could make a run at it while BB is at UT.

The comparison of this year's talent to Reggie's class at USC does says something about Kiffin's ability to do that at UT. Then, we all know UT has the draw to attract top 5 talent classes with consistency, as we did in the late 1990's/early 2000's, so it's good to see it getting back on track. Kiffin comments that we were always in the top 3 choices of the best players in the country when he recruited against us at USC were spot on.

The big difference is that this staff will be much better at development and much better at X's and O's. So, Brown can rest assured that coming to Knoxville and adding his talent to that pool is a very low risk strategy.

What number do you guys think he'll wear as a Vol? I don't recall that being discussed.

But your also talking about a team that went 5-7, and lost to Wyoming last year. I dont think Bryce is set on UT, as you would say. He has stated he wants to play around GOOD O-Lineman.. GOOD being the key word. Last time i checked out O-Line doesnt look too promising after this year, unless we have some real surprises. Also with a big question mark at QB, the pressure will be put big time on BB, and he may not want to see 8 or 9 in the box all the time..

Not trying to be negative, but this isnt a lock to be a Vol. I hope he picks UT, but there are a lot of signs that say he might not.

i say its between us and MIAMI !

he has no reason for oregon, and doesnt seem that enthused about LSU

i'm just worried about the canes !
