Bryce Thompson out - potentially

He screamed and hollered, and hit a wall. He didn't hit her or lay a hand on anyone. If this is true and he gets more than running the stadium we jave succumbed to the PC world and hopefully Bama picks him up.
I believe it has been reported that he put a hole in the wall when he punched it, and during this same episode tore a steel gate off the wall. It has also been reported that he stated he fell on the gate that is what tore it off the wall, then changed his story, and admitted to tearing the metal gate off the wall. There are so many different accounts, from he hollered and hit a wall, to punching a hole in the wall and tearing a steel gate off the wall, I guess we'll find out the facts soon enough. But it looks like, he may have some huge, high dollar law suits against those reporting the hole in the wall, gate tearing down crap, as it appears he only hollered and hit a wall!

He was in jail for 12 hours. How long before they cool?
That would have to be the judgement of professionals, such as Judges, you know those guys in the black robes, the guys that deal with this type situation every day. But as you have asked for my opinion, I'd have to look at not just what he was accused of, what the officers making the arrest reported, and previous criminal acts. I am shocked to learn TC had a previous "encounter" with a female (maybe the old ho with the false eye lashes) that got a restraining order against him, something about death threats. That could have just been a great guy and his girl having a little spat over where to eat Sunday breakfast, she insisted on a place he didn't like, and he jokingly-said "I'm going to kill you"! You know, how playful young couple often do, and even some wives tell their husbands they are going to kill them all them time! After careful review of the all the facts, I'm sure he'll be back on the team, and doing a great job representing UT!

Not attacking you personally... but this claim has been made a couple of times already. Do you have a reference demonstrating it to be true? If people are being kicked out of school all over the country for something as simple as this... based on inconsistent testimony... I'd like to know the extent.

Due Process - FIRE

From the article:

“Since 2011, there have been more than 400 lawsuits brought in federal and state courts by accused students alleging they were denied a fair process in campus sexual misconduct adjudications.”

Many of the cases involve an accusation of sexual assault, but the precedent is that universities are not currently obliged to afford accused persons the same level of due process that we are used to seeing in the courts. It’s an entirely different system.

I does have to wonder if that gate identifies as a gal though because if it ded If would be the only gal he has ever hit butt that not my business. I wonder how gal that filed that restrainn order felt when the policeman found no truth of the abuse she claimed. I mean golly bum mister Thompson hasn’t had his day in court and some guys are just painting a Birmingham picture of him murdering cats or something. I sure do hope that the big men at the skool have much more since than the guys on the World Wide Web. I tell ya what, how about you go find some toliet paper and stick it in yer mouth, maybe that will clean the shew shew coming out of it.

I don't have a dog in the fight here because I'm not involved in any of the decision making process. With that being said, I'd like to know the outcome of those "more than 400 lawsuits" to have a more objective opinion on the matter you've presented.

The number of lawsuits does not equate to the number of legitimate claims.

The woman who filed for a restraining order against Thompson wrote in her complaint that Thompson texted her stating that if she dated another man, he “would kill both me and that other guy.” She wrote that she believed Thompson’s threat because “he has a history of violence against me and others. He has physically slapped me, choked me, and thrown me around. I fear for my safety, and am constantly looking over my shoulder.”

I don't see how UT can allow Thompson to remain on the team.

Maybe something other than the word of a jilted ex, maybe some kind of proof?

While I agree with Saban's stance on giving young people a chance to correct the behavior, I'm pretty sure he has booted a few guys that exhibit a pattern. UT may be entering that realm here...damn tough call, I'd hate to be the guy with a life in my hands trying to make this decision. Makes me appreciate being on a message board watching the debate and not having to actually make the decision.

The person that was in reply to specifically asked about the scope of the issue. Undoubtedly there are illegitimate claims, but the problems with due process in title ix enforcement are fairly well-known. There has been a lot of attention paid to it in the last few years because of the terror of the “me too” movement and as steps have been made to try to undo some of the damage.

Although most of the writing about it refers to sexual misconduct, I believe title ix covers domestic/dating violence as well, so this case very well could fall under its auspices.

Individual universities have some latitude when it comes to enforcing the regulations, but UT has been on the wrong side of title ix fairly recently so they very well may lean toward the stricter end of the spectrum.

***IF*** He's had a past restraining order due to threats of violence and ***IF***he threatened physical violence against a girl in this episode the other day and ***IF***he actually threatened to shoot up the school there's zero chance he remains on this team. Zero. And ***IF*** all that's true and he remains on the team I'd be ashamed.

But he deserves due process. Everyone does.

This is one side of the story. Who knows if it's true. I'm sure there is a police report or investigation report that tells both sides of the story and has a conclusion based on the facts. UT obviously knew about this restraining order before they allowed BT to enroll. I can't believe they allowed BT to enroll if they thought the girl's statements were true.

Kinda reminds me of Peyton Manning and the female trainer that had the case against each other. Remember when she recently made the salacious claims against manning in a court filing and the media eviscerated Manning. Then it came out she was just a vengeful b*tch after a radio guy caught her on tape. That story went away quickly and none of the media ever apologized to Manning.

So, obviously the worst case scenario is Thompson being kicked off the team. I definitely hope he's able to get help and never have these issues again. If he's too much of a liability for the program or the school and they do decide to cut him loose, to be honest, I'm not going to be too beaten up over it. Reason being is that I have the most confidence in CJP and his staffs ability to recruit and coach in the secondary position. The talent is there but he's got some issues. I know there are plenty of kids chomping at the bit for an opportunity. What do you guys think about the possibility of loosing a Freshman All-american?

Who cares about football. Just help the kid.

RT16 I think we should all care about football as iy pertains to this kid. It is the carrot that you can dangle out in front of him. We all know he wants to go to the NFL like 99% of the kids who play in college. He might realize how important his personal responsibility is to keeping his dream alive. It might motivate him when nothing else will.

But above all else, he needs help. If he is dismissed from the team, at least keep I’m enrolled to give him the help he needs

According to Knox Now, Thompson initially told authorities he fell onto the gate and fell down the stairs with it.
He later recanted his statement, instead saying the gate broke when 'he tried to pull it upwards'. ''
Wow, we are getting all kinds of different stories, I'd like to know if he tore the gate off as he later said he did, or did the cops beat him in jail in order to get the confession over the gate, or maybe Knox Now is just a bunch of dishonest low life trash, and not to be believed? Some experts (with inside knowledge) say he just slapped the wall and yelled at one of his girlfriends (not the one that left the false eye lashes), others say there was wall damage and a metal gate torn off, along with yelling a physical threat to one of his girlfriends, who should we believe? Do you think the cops tore the gate off, and decided to "pin it" on BT? Then beat him into confessing to a crime he did not commit? The old girl friend (the one with the order of protection, over his death threats) and one or both of these new females may have gotten together to frame BT, planned the timing, to just the right moment when a friend in LE would be on duty, and willing to tear the gate off, and beat BT into confession this requires a lot of investigation. It looks like he said, she said, she said, the police said....
