Butch Davis

Ainge just said KY turned down Davis for Kentucky reasons. Would irrelevance be a "Kentucky" reason?

Just doesn't make sense

After Butch of course.

Butch is not the answer IMO. Just look at his record. He went from 3-5 in the ACC conference to 4-4 after being there for 4 years. I know he lost players but still.

The Tennessee coaching search is underway

Butch Davis: Davis (60) is cleared to coach, but will the negative perception hovering over Davis related to the academic fiasco at UNC deter an athletic director from contacting Davis? He is a proven winner, who recruited at the highest level as the UNC head coach. Davis stated just last week that he's ready to coach again. As the special assistant to Greg Schiano with the Tampa Bay Bucs, there's no question Davis would jump at the opportunity to lead the Tennessee program. A source close to Davis tells me that Tennessee, in fact, is THE job he wants.

As I've said many times, I think he would be an outstanding hire...He can recruit too so this might be strong option for UT to consider.

I think Davis would be a good value hire. I would offer him 2.5 million and see what kind of staff he could hire with 3.35 million.

5.8 million/year instead of 9 million for Gruden & Company. Recruiting would be strong and we could win with this idea.

I'd prefer this hire....at least its a pretty safe hire as far as x and o's....he knows how to coach, defensive minded, will bring a staff and can recruit.

Grudens a Rock Star but he's kinda a unknown as far as CFB...

Even if he his cleared, that doesn't change the mind of people within the NCAA IMO. There is clearly a trail of destruction with his previous jobs. We do not need wondering eyes on the program right now. They may clear him but they will still be watching him.
