Butch Jones blaming negativity surrounding his program on the Tennessee fanbase

Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow won multiple national championships. They also cried when they lost. You can be a great coach or a great player and still cry. That is all I was thinking.

I don’t think Butch Jones is a good coach. I have several reasons for that opinion, and none of those reasons include tears.
Speaking of Urban. Class guy, still.

There were only 2-3 games in his entire career here where he got that few touches in a game, and a couple of those were due to injury.

He was under-used, no argument there, but that's exaggerated, revisionist history to suggest that he hardly ever played. He had an average of 11 touches/game in 2015 and 2016. It should have been double that, agreed. But he didn't consistently get 4-5 a game.
5 different games in 2015 he had either 4 or 5 carries, out of 13.

It's revisionist boarding to say that I said he never played. I only said he rode the bench.

You can cry and still be a good coach. You can also be a bad person and still be a good coach. You can also be a good coach 15-20 years ago and not be a good coach today.
Just like a coach demands a great deal of fearlessness and toughness from his players to work hard, train hard, and make sacrifices of their time and body to excel, a coach needs to lead by example.

Crying on the sidelines isn't a sign of the kind of toughness and resilience I think of when I think of great players or coaches.

You are welcome to think otherwise.

Shouldn't he be bolstered by the positive comments from Alabama fans excited about what they accomplished with him there? Oh yeah, that's right, they don't think he did anything.
Now now. No one should doubt his ability to fetch coffee and oatmeal crème pies nor his prowess at washing Saban’s car.

Do you think Urban Meyer was a great college coach? Do you think Tebow was a great college player?

No doubt about it. 2017 got him fired, but the second half of 2016 was inexcusable.
I always felt that after the ‘16 season, he was just done. Almost as if he had to (grind) out the ‘17 season till he was fired.

Helps knowing you are going to be a multimillionaire!

Butch still using the same playbook. Throw any and everyone under the bus instead of taking any responsibility when things go wrong. How many points on the scoreboard did that negativity account for? Was it more or less than his crap coaching? How was it that this offensive mastermind didn’t manage to put a single point on the board?

Jones should just stop blaming everyone but himself for being a crappy coach. Either his players don't respect him or he's just in over his head.

Individual assignments, Individuals, leadership reps, mental reps....

Even Butch's coach speak colloquialisms he used with the media were embarrassing. I honestly think Butch is dumb enough to think he sounded smart.

I'm A-OK with our punter situation because after Heupel gave a little coach speak he said "He’s gonna be a really good player, . . . we believe he’ll continue to get better." Had Heupel babbled on about making sure our punter knows his 'individual assignments" and gets his 'mental reps' in, I'd be more concerned.
Don’t forget my personal favorite - “CEO quarterback”!

Honestly, I feel bad for Arky State fans and alums for having to endure this guy. They don’t deserve that in the least.

The sooner they run him out of town, the better. I doubt there’s high schools that would take this guys brand of “coaching” and sleep at night.

Butch and Pruitt are the two most ridiculous hires and the fact they were back to back really just baffles the mind. Saying a prayer of thanks for Plowman and Boyd getting us out of that spiral to the bottom with no floor.

It continues to be laughable Cooter Fulmer was involved in one of the hires.

Anyone find a picture of Bear Bryant crying on the sideline, please get back to us 😉

He cried when Josh Dobbs threw the Hobbnail boot. I thought it was embarrassing. Ever seen Saban cry? Seen him whine, but not cry.
I truly believe he lost his cool because he was feeling destined to be great at UT, without being a great coach.

I spent time in Columbus where "Woody is God" so no, I'm more of a Bobby Knight kind of disciplinarian...... choking has its place as a coaching technique.

Seriously, can't you just see General Neyland boo-hooing on the sidelines after a loss?

Butch thought he was destined to be a great coach, and it is harder for him to believe that without Bajakian and Jancek doing all the work while he blathers about organic milk, innovative blocking philosophy, and lightning practice reps.
