Butch Jones embraces team chaplain Tim Miller

What always gets me is how people put God in a box and say you have to this or you have to do that or else you go to hell. If it's so cut and dry what sends people to hell, why is there a need for a judgement? People have judged me to hell my entire life because I live in the buckle of the Bible Belt and believe differently that the baptists and methodists who reside here with me. Heaven isn't as complicated to get to as many people make it out to be.
Is it more difficult than a camel to lass through the eye of a needle?

Is it always this difficult for you when peons dont bask in the glory of you superior intellect?

Except in your case. You are clearly a scholar and a Republican. One could only hope to harness the vast knowledge in that head of yours.....

Back on topic here, Tim is a great guy, Pastor, husband and father, and a VFL who has had some great impact on many of our players the last few years. He is extremely helpful to everyone and never meets a stranger. He is a great example for young men to pattern their lives after.

You have purposely invited everything you've had thrown at you on this thread with your original post calling Christianity magic and a crutch for weak people. Stop acting like a victim.

Lol. I don't think I am a victim. Stick to recruiting one liners.

The eye of the needle was a small entrance in to Jerusalem that camels had to get down on their knees and crawl through. That was a "humble yourself" reference shot at rich people.

Tolerance works in many different ways. You would not believe the hatred between Catholics and Protestants, Baptists and Church of Christ, etc. A good friend of mine was happy when I left the Catholic Church. Did not care that I wasn't Christian any longer, just happy I wasn't Catholic.

Cash me ouside. LOL. Hey bro. We don't agree.

And yet you continue to respond to any post that may have an inkling of questions to your beliefs to prove how smart you are.....you appear much like what we call sunshine pumpers trying to convince themselves that Butch Jones is an elite level football coach.

I have seen this posted a lot in this thread by numerous posters and really, I mean I really wanted to stay out of this thread... but:

Why is the most powerful question one that makes you frame it in the aspect of fear? Fear of eternal fire and brimstone vs the wonderful life of heaven?

Also, to be honest, I was a bible school teacher, sunday school teacher, nephew of two preachers and christian bible camp counselor. The separation of heaven and hell and how it was divided up between "non believers and believers" was the foundation on how I became an atheist not what would lead me to follow christ.

Anyway as far as the OP, good for the team, good for the kids, I don't see the harm.

I've got no idea. The fact that I said it is a pretty powerful question....not THE most powerful question, does in and of itself make your post a moot point. The word THE in this case changes the meaning of the statement quite a bit.

Now. The statement as I posted it is in fact a powerful question. Did I say anything beyond that? Did I say that I agreed with said statement? No.

What I said was it is a pretty powerful question. Which it is. Everyone is free to come up with their own reason why it's powerful. I just said it stuck with me through the years. Personally, I agree with you. It's a question based in fear. It is still a question that most if not all people have asked themselves, regardless of religion (atheist included) at some point in their life, in some form or another.

:hi:

I do like Butch Jones.

I suspect if the article was written with references related to Mr. Miller's faith and church removed and focused only on the positive culture he had instilled without calling attention to the fact that he is a Christian - those of you who are offended would not be so.

The key message is that a good man takes the time to reach out to young college students in a time when their life could go in many different directions. And we have a coaching staff who cares enough about those young men to understand the importance of that.

Those of you who have any problem with this because of someone's faith need to get over yourself.

Just making sure this post keeps getting seen...

It's also said to be translated incorrectly and means rope or cable. So thread a rope (cable) through the eye of a needle.

The Native Americans have been on this land for 10's of thousands of years. The Aboriginal people of Australia have been there for 30,000 years or more. The Polynesian people populated Islands for thousands of years. The cradle of life in Africa, people for 100,000 years. What happened to all of those souls? Before 2060 years ago? I still have never gotten an answer that is satisfactory for myself or others. I look forward to some of your thoughts. Thanks in advance

Part of the reasons I left the Church. Would also like to hear thoughts on this post.

Yep. As long as we are all Vol fans that's the only thing that matters.

I'm completely fine with your atheism. I'm not Christian, I get what you are saying and your arguments. There is merit to those arguments. But you went the "crutch" route with religion, which immediately pisses everyone off that is religious. Then it descends into everyone defending themselves. I'm just saying take a different tact.

And go Vols brother, regardless.
