Buy out the Oregon game now!

If I'm a high school kid, and I see a school backing out of another game against a big conference opponent, I'm not going to look at that school anymore. That tells me the coaches don't have faith in their or their players' ability to win.

The negative sh*tstorm of buying out the premier nonconference game of next season would vastly outweigh the benefits of avoiding a blowout.

This thread is stupid.

Ohio State bought out our future home and home, U think its gonna be hard for them to get recruits bc of it?

And what are the kids who are getting recruiting by Tennessee gonna think when were getting blown out by 45+ on national tv?

Dude.. Have faith Oregon isn't gonna beat us by 45.. I am willing to put dinner on it! Pick your spot in Nash Vegas if Oregon does beat us by 45 steaks on me but if not its on you... :shades:

Ohio State bought out a series in 5 years. I'd say most people outside of fans of the schools don't know or care.

We'd be buying out a series next season. There is a massive difference. If you don't think the coaches would have to answer for that when sitting in a living room, you're clueless.

Anyone remember stanford vs usc a few year's ago? Usc was like a 40 point favorite and it was a home game for them, yet they lost. I would rather UT lose than look to scared to play

Now i know you're about to say "Were Tennessee we dont back down! We will play anybody!"

But lets be honest Were not winning a championship next year, It will be an auto loss, Next years goal needs to be to get to a bowl game.

And with this schedule, Were not guaranteed to win 5 games.

Austin Peay
Western Kentucky
at Oregon
at Florida
South Alabama
Georgia
Open Date
South Carolina
at Alabama
at Missouri
Auburn
Open Date
Vanderbilt
Kentucky

Auburn will be alot better under Malzahn.

Missour will be better.

Vandy will be good (Despite what alot of UT fans wanna think)

Hell Western Kentucky is not a 100% win IMO

Theres a CHANCE we lose 8 games for the first time EVER.

Call me what you want but for the best interest in this program we need to buy out this game.
We should buy you out,so you can never start another thread like this. What, are we scared to play teams from the pac 12 now? We should never ever buy out another game again, that was so embarrassing when we bought out UNC out of all people. I don't understand it. Thats like getting punked out,I would rather take my beating like a man. Thanks Cyeee

how bout we stop buying our way out of contracts.....maybe honor one for once.....then and only then will we be able to attract a namebrand coach instead of these generics we call coaches. ( dooley, jones, and lane kitten)

Dude. Dooley is gone. We're going to be respectable again.

Austin Peay, WKU, South Alabama, Auburn, and Kentucky. There's your five wins.

Missouri and Vanderbilt are the next two winnable games. Missouri almost lost to us this year. That's how bad they were. Vandy is losing a ton of senior talent.

We almost beat Georgia and South Carolina this year. I wouldn't be shocked (pleasantly surprised, more like) if we snagged one of those.

Finally someone who sees the bigger picture and isnt looking through his orange shades.

And to the fans expecting CBJ to give them 8 wins next season...

will get six wins if not seven. Bringing the 4-3 defense back. would have had that many wins this year if the defense was up to the task running the 3-4 but failed.

Hamilton is gone. Hopefully, he took his back down attitude with him.

Yep. That would do wonders for our recruiting.

I can see it now: "Hey kid! Do you want to come play for a team that wusses out when the big dogs wanna play?"

Who wants to play for a team that chickens out? It would kill our reputation and UT would never live it down. It would give opposing fans lots of fuel. Plus, big games against highly-ranked opponents get national exposure, which every recruit wants.

You need to rethink your long-term strategy, Baller Vol.

Play the game, the PR from backing down would be worse than playing and getting curb stomped. I am tired of fans wanting UT to buy their way out of playing tough teams, if we expect to be tough someday these are the type of games you play to get tougher.

I guess it comes down to whether UT will look worse by backing away and running from the fight or getting run out of the stadium.

no money to buy it out - its all going to that crumb staff from this last season

You could potentially make up the buyout money by scheduling another home game. But then you would have to pay someone to com to Neyland to play. With how attendance would probably be it may not break even.

Who wants to play for a team that backs out of games it might lose? That seems stupid beyond belief.

Getting embarrassed on National Television moves us closer to being Kentucky and farther away from the likes of Alabama.

We gotta get our house in order first.

We gotta get our house in order before we will ever have a chance against one of the most dominate teams in football.
They have a lot of speed... Something UT doesn't have... That's why it was a bad match up last time and why it will be a bad match up next year as well...
I would try to get out of that game if i were running things.. It's a loss and more than likely a beat down type loss...
