'18 CA QB JT Shrout (UT signee)

My point is that no one in their right mind would label Dormady or Guarantano 4* recruits after a 1-year re-ranking.

I'm not saying Shrout is Peyton Manning at all. However, if Dormady decides to transfer, we absolutely HAVE to sign a QB in this class. And even if he doesn't, Shrout has upside.

And sometimes, that's all you can ask for, especially when we're behind the 8-ball when it comes to the coaching carousel.

The poster had a "bless his heart" moment. Regurgitating stuff the whole world already knew instead of analyzing the film, the player's history, the level of competition, the mechanics, etc. and then giving a personally informed critique that left out the silly trash talk.

Our class captain peer recruiting. I like it

I don't know about others on here, but I just watched his Hudl video, and the one thing that stuck out to me right off the bat is that his footwork and throwing motion is very similar to another former qb for the Vols. He has better wheels than PM, but pretty much everything else is eerily similar. Projected as a pro style qb, but he isn't afraid to run the ball and picks up good yardage when he does. Mobile enough that other teams would have to respect that possibility. I think it would be a steal for CJP to sign him.

So we are settling for 3* now.

Broken leg his sophomore year cost him half a year and looks like his junior year as well. Let's think this through; very little experience as a starting qb, but except for the broken leg, very well may have been a three year starter. I would have to watch the full film of all his games, but as several on here have pointed out, it would appear his offensive line must have been average at best for protection, don't know about their run game, but Shrout seems to have been the majority of their offense. And I will accept NFL scouts opinion over the gurus on here any time. Bring him into the fold.

Wasting your time. He’s complaining in another thread that we should put stricter academic standards on accepting football players. He’s just trolling.

First, let me preface this by saying I think the kid will stick with Cal due to timing and distance. I hope I’m wrong however.

I’ve done a lot of scouting and recruiting at different levels and after watching his film a few times I see why the NFL guys said what they did. This kid is a steal and will light it up wherever he goes. Now I’m not saying he is this guy because I know the flame squad will be in immediately. But he does possess a lot of the qualities of a Farve. He’s got that gunslinger mentality, a strong arm but good accuracy and touch, and he throws on the run very well. Also a good athlete. You can tell he’s a fierce competitor and leader as well. So if he were to choose TN, I would be more than happy. I think he will be one of the top QBs in the class when all is said and done

This kid seems like he has all the intangibles, just needs to refine his mental grasp of the game and decision making on the field. Reminds me of Bray in terms of raw potential.

Matt Moore’s lil brother was cemented in front of him one class ahead. Knew that as a freshman. His family considered moving and he voted against it. Worked hard and waited his turn. Don’t need any of that in Knoxville. :nono:

And that's what he does. Constantly whines, complains and trolls... As ridiculous as d4h is at least he is enthusiastic at times..

i believe Scout.Com, was formerly known as Gridscape.Com. Griddie - werent you a mod over there? This is totally off the top of my head btw. Posters did used to say he was heavily involved in NC and SC - not sure how. Was always informed with Crompton, Briscoe, and RB who played for Browns from Raleigh area...Hardesty?

Really impressed with that part about him.

No, I just coach which includes scouting... Hadn't heard of him before so I was curious...

Wow gridscape☝️ Those were the days. Just in a variety of ways but NC is the area I’m in. I hope Vols hit NC hard again. We are beginning to roll out more and more top level prospects

So from a scouting standpoint what do you think of him?

Ah, Gridscape. I have always thought of that when I see your user name.
