'18 CA QB JT Shrout (UT signee)

I’m excited that we have a QB coach that knows how to scout and develop quarterbacks. There are so many examples of low ranked QB’s that end up being awesome that they’re hard to count. Mayfield, Josh Allen, and Wentz come to mind immediately. He has intangibles and his issues can be fixed through good coaching. Why is that hard to understand? NFL scouts praised him as well. Nobody is saying he’s Peyton. But he could end up being very good. We’ll have to see won’t we?

Allen is terrible. Mayfield had offers and got more pulled for his dad and bad attitude. Had a great high school career with great stats. Wentz grew a lot. Misses do happen. Shrout was scouted though. He isn't an unknown player.

If Shrout becomes 6'5 240 like Wentz and Allen or has crazy stats like Mayfield then I will believe he can be successful.

He can be successful. Not likely. And not anytime soon. People are saying he might start this year though. Not happening.

He sucks but went top 10 in the draft. Got it.

Gtfoh with that. Y'all might judge on race not me. The same posters don't like any non white qb we recuiting or that plays here. Then they gush over players like Chryst, Dormady, Worley, McBride, and Shrout who have worse stats and less talent than the qb they are competing against that I like better. It's funny they never get accused of anything even though they are hyoing the worse player.

I judge on fact.

Dobbs was better than Worley and Dormady. JG is better than Dormady and McBride. He had a better year last year than Chryst and Shrout.

Those are facts.

Facts.... Dormandy tore his labrum...

So Helton just doesn't know what the hell he's looking at then?

TBF, we were pretty much in scramble mode for a QB once Martinez flipped to Nebraska.

There’s no way of knowing how high or low Shrout would have been on our QB board if Helton and Pruitt had been here for the full class of 2018 recruiting cycle.

Dormady’s injury happened during camp to his non-throwing shoulder. He could have had surgery during camp and made it back halfway through the season or waited until the season was over to get surgery.

Instead he shut down his season once he lost his starting job.

So giving up half the season during an intense QB competition or shutting it down after aggravating the injury halfway through the season? :dunno:

So getting hit constantly on your non throwing shoulder wouldn't hurt ? I'm confused......

lol where did anybody say that?

Just laying out the facts. He had the injury in all the games he played. He decided to get surgery on it after he lost his starting job.

I’m sure the hits he took in the games he played were much more painful than holding a clipboard on the sideline, FWIW.

Might have had something to do with his performance. So he needed to address it.

Everybody wants to get tough for everybody else.

I’m just throwing out the facts about what Dormady did. I’m not judging him for it saying he should’ve acted differently. Our program was a mess last year. Hard to make judgments about what the guys who struggled through 2017 should have done.

I’m not sure why you always have to be so defensive about every post you read.

It’s a dissenting opinion...why do you seem defensive? :)

One person alludes to a true freshman starting this year. 5 pages of banter ensues.

But at least it’s not a topic centered around Lebron.

Wasn't it his throwing shoulder? I remember seeing his arm sling with the right arm.
