You guys are really defensive about California. It is the 5th largest economy in the world. They absolutely could make that work. Great Britain seems to be doing alright in 6th. A succession won't be allowed because people more objective than yourselves at the helm. Also, if California is allowed out then Texas might want to follow suit. Ask yourselves how that might work out if 23% of the US economy left.

You might disagree with left coast politics, but even Trump will tell you that their money is green.

California needs the rest of the country. It’s not a one-way street.

Mexifornia and Texaco would another third world country in a few years.

Hell, California tries to outretard themselves every day.

I’m rooting more for a successful secession.

It wouldn't work well for CA since they would be dependent on their former country for water, would have to start their own military and industry would flee. Not to mention their current government is not very business friendly. Almost overnight they would plunge from the 5th largest economy to somewhere south of Mexico. TX on the other hand would have a better shot at being a successful independent nation due to the oil reserves and a business friendly environment. It wouldn't be easy for either.

Myself, I believe that since every state in the union joined voluntarily they should be allowed to leave without fear of being threatened with force to stay.

I never claimed that it was a one way street, but California and Texas have the assets to be successful. Between the two they have about 40% of the US oil refining capabilities.

Once Calixco is gone Texas will be happy. The blustery Texans wanting secession want away from Californians and New Yorkers. Get rid of the Californians and we’ll put the New Yorkers on a leash for the rest of the country.

You’re welcome.

Texas and the Texicans who reside there should leave too. I'd move to an independent Texas. Hope they name themselves Country Unified as New Texas.

CA does not have the power and water capacity to be successful. It relies on other states for that. Without those arrangements it would be a humanitarian disaster in pretty short order.

With that big of an economy, they would progress to other means of power and water.

Short sighted on your part.

Tell you what, take your ass to Cali and keep the 16%. When they secede their ability to input that 16% will dwindle to nothing. Oh yeah, one way immigration hoss. You go, you don't come back.
Cwv wonders why we tell him to get bent...

We're not defensive about California. We're telling you to get bent because of your attitude about Southerners. Go take a long walk.

And if Texas seceded, i'd move there.

And as has been pointed out, let's see what California's economy would look like as an independent nation.

Let's try. You can move to California and everyone would be happy.

The south takes far more than they give, in terms of tax money. It is a fact. Without California's 16% contribution to the tax revenue of the federal government... the south would lose the source of the funds they count on to survive.

It's all about cost of living. The idiots on the coasts have massive taxes that drive up their cost of living which in turn drives up their wages. Take California out of the mix and things will balance out just fine.

Since the GDP has been hyped by many, what would that do to that number?

California is getting ready to pass universal income. Explain to me how they are going to afford that?

You assume (and I think incorectly) that their economy wouldn't take a massive hit if the suceded.

You’re certainly acting like it.

California will get rid of that capability shortly. They’re just too busy banning straws, creating hundreds of genders, and fighting evil whitey at the moment.

Generators grow on trees, literally. Just acquire some iron, magnets and coils of wire, string up your contraption in the trees (let the wind serve as “fuel” to turn the turbine), after providing a DC field current to regulate the terminal voltage, and there you go.

It really is that simple. They’ll be cranking out watts by the billions in no time.
