Calling Out Pearl Haters (merged)

We won't have a problem making the tournament, but if Pearl can't learn from his previous trips then he doesn't deserve to be running the show. Other teams constantly go deeper with less talent. Making it to the second round won't cut it.

Beating number 1 is wonderful. I hope the team plays this hot through the winter and we take out another number 1 UK team.

what other teams 'constantly go deep' with less talent? You have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

This is where I'm coming from. We have all these no class, 'new money' UT bball fans on this site that weren't alive for the toil of being a UT BBall fan for the last 30 years. Anyone who was knows a Sweet 16 is f'n great and even making the tourney used to be unheard of. I remember countless consecutive years where our only shot of the NCAA's was to win the SEC tourney, which we didn't. CBP is the best coach UT has ever had by far.

I remember those last chance SEC tourneys well. The only time Tenn won was when I pretended to make a last second nerf shot over my bedroom door to beat Kentucky.

what other teams 'constantly go deep' with less talent? You have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

Your reading comprehension skill set exposes your 9th grade education.
Each year there is a surprise team that is able to go deeper into the tournament than Pearl is able to with the facilities and talent he has.

So you have nothing for an answer? Which teams 'constantly go deep' with less talent, like you said? Or are you just making stuff up in crazyland?
Oh wait, you mean there's a different Cinderella every year and since it's not the Vols, CBP sucks? Not the brightest bulb in the box, huh? Of course, that was already obvious by your choice of days to disparage CBP's coaching skills. You think Self would have won if they'd switched players? Not likely. Try growing up, watching the tourney a little, and not posting gibberish for starters. I'm not holding out hope for you, though...

I would never joke about Hat and his playmates. The win over KU did solidify the stupidity of constant Pearl bashing. We may lose 7or8 down the stretch due to depth and fatigue, but obviously Pearl can coach basketball.

One game does not mean he's a good coach. I like Pearl and I want him to succeed, but that doesn't change the fact that there are some glaring problems with this team that he has not addressed(one being FT shooting). Do I think he's a good coach? I want to believe so but others are entitled to their opinions as well. Using this win to say he is a good coach just doesn't float tho. In '93, Wade Houston was coach and we pulled off an upset against a very good KY team that made it to the Final Four that year. You'd be hard-pressed to find any Vol fan that remembers the Wade Houston years that would call him a good coach. I guess my point is the hallmark of a good coach is consistency, not the occassional upset win.

You are like a broken record. A really stupid broken record...

Why don't you go on another rant to show your higher IQ because you are in the City?

Or how about saying people don't like Pearl because of Judaism?

The next post you have that is even remotely close to being correct will be your first.

That is exactly it you softheaded blowhard. There are constantly and consistently teams that are able to do more with less than Pearl. Does that mean he is a terrible coach? Of course not, but we have all the resources available in Knoxville to be better - so it should be expected.

I'll wait for you to call me a boogerhead and tell me that I am 15 now.

One good win is very different than what CBP has done, this year or any year. He gets many good wins a year. How isn't he consistent? We are winning the SEC regularly, beating FLA regularly, beating #1's, getting good seeds and recruits.. He's won everywhere he's been, even here with a squad of scrubs when he first arrived. Was it not genius to start Dane at PF? Do you think (insert coach here) would have made that move? That is the definition of good coaching, as are the inbounds TO's we get and wins vs #1 with half our contributors suspended. By your standard, CBP is a great coach. Dont let these trolls in orange clothes fool you.

I didn't realize we were "regularly winning the SEC."

I wouldn't insult 15 year olds everywhere by comparing your stupidity to theirs...
Y'know, Duke hasn't made it any farther in the last 4 years than CBP has. They need a new coach too, I guess, especially since they are working with so much more NBA talent, right? Now I'll wait for your double-standard to kick in...
BTW, there is no such thing as a constant or consistent cinderella. That team becomes like Gonzaga, a national power. They do not retain cinderella status. Pay attention this March.

east twice in 4 years. better than anyone else over that span. silly haters are so foolish, pretending we aren't successful... Watch ESPN or something. You've let an Illini fan convince you you hate your own coach. I'm just glad Lawgator isn't more convincing, or called Lawvol. I'm sure you same few sheeples would be closet Gator fans by now.

Man those East Banners sure look good hanging in TBA.

Fulmerite logic still carries on.

Winning the East is not winning the SEC. Plus, I like Pearl, but I want to see improvement in tournament play, both in the SEC and NCAA tournaments.

Whoa whoa whoa! Why not ask for back to back NC's while you're at it! I mean, lets stay reasonable here. You can't expect improvement yet.

Why don't you go on another rant to show your higher IQ because you are in the City?Posted via VolNation Mobile

Thanks. I never said I had a higher IQ than you, but I guess it is obvious from the posts.
I am not NYC, I just live here. I'm from Tenn, and went to UT, hence the fandom. NYC is just about the $$$ for me. I actually prefer the South, from the food to the folks, and will move back to TN as soon as I can afford to.
Your silly misperception of my NYC arrogance just shows how poorly you comprehend. These types of dumb southern attacks on me just for living in NYC are exactly the dots that I'm connecting to arrive at the 'anti-semite' possibility. If it sounds like a dumb, prejudiced vs the north type-of-dude, it may possibly be.
With BPV, I think it's the style he dislikes, but I truly think he'll come around eventually (a final 4 will help). With Hat, I think it's that he's still mad about Deon Thomas, and he'll never not be, because he's just too pompous to change his mind. But with the guys like you that misunderstand everything and act so disingenuous when posed with the simplest of questions, instead choosing to answer your own poorly comprehended tidbits, I start to wonder about the motivations behind it. It ranges from 'handshake gone wrong' to 'half-court minded hs coach' to even 'bigot'. I'm a white dude, so other white dudes have been open enough around me for me to know that bigots do exist.
Maybe it's not you, but what is your deal then? The 'CBP can't coach' argument isn't holding up, and never really did.

CBP, the best, most successful coach we've ever had, and he's only in his 5th year! Argue that, trolls...

CBP, the best, most successful coach we've ever had, and he's only in his 5th year! Argue that, trolls...

I will argue here

1. With the most talented, deepest, UT team ever assembled, Pearl went Jerry Green on us, underacheived, lead us to the tourney thanks to one of the worst SEC seasons in basketball, and then lost to Oklahoma State with a team that played with a 6'5 PF and 6'7 C. That whole team played with no heart, no hustle, and no guts.

2. Pearl had to have Lofton save his ass his first year from losing to Wichita State and become one of five 2-15 upsets...UT then went on to be upset by Winthrop the next round.

3. In his second year, Pearl blew a 20 point lead against Ohio State in the Tournament in the second half and decided that our best option was Ramar Smith trying to take it coast-to-coast.

4. He has never, ever, ever won a SEC Tournament. The one time we made it to the Championship game, we lost to a mediocre Mississippi Team that had to play four straight games.

5. In his third year, with the most sucessful regular season team UT had, he lost to a good, but not great Arkansas team in the semi's.

6. He had showed lack of player development, inability to play a half-court game, and get us in quality shots late in games without Lofton covering his ass. Even with the awesome shot McBee hit, we had a walk-on freshman dribbling the ball around with no idea of how many seconds on the shot clock. He got bailed out McBee hit a huge shot. Great coaching there.

Having said all that, there is a lot of positives about Pearl. He is a good coach. Not a great coach. And he has done nothing great in the Tournament. And that's what really matters.

Your argument before was how the city was so far advanced and Tennessee was filled with rednecks who knew nothing.

Don't act like you never said anything like that.

Bruce's record in March is all you need to know about how he can coach.

Also for the record, as a coach myself, you can always tell a lot about a coach as to how his peers see him. Ask around to fellow coaches and see what they think about Bruce.

That you are on here criticizing the coaching in that Kansas game yesterday that WE WON with a short roster vs at least 2 lottery picks shows how lost you are. You are going to fight no matter what. No matter how dumb you look, how many times you are proven wrong, you are going to keep on saying the same things. Renaldo looked improved. So does Chism, Maze, Hopson and pretty much everyone else.
What UT coach was winning the SEC tourney again? It's not easy with a fair shake, which we will never get. Officiating always kills us in the tourney. They get to hack and hip check, while Chizz gets calls for breathing heavy. I don't remember our last final even, b4 CBP's.
Pearl can at least get a 20 point lead vs a #1 seed with the #1 pick and some other pros. That was his system that almost won that game, just as it's his system that OWNS Fla, even during their NC years. All those turnovers aren't players getting lucky.
You're on here praising no D McBee for the one shot he hit and blaming Pearl for McBee's unawareness of the shot clock at the same time. How you criticize anyone on a successful key play in perhaps UT's biggest win ever is beyond me, but it is also wrong. Get out troll.

Oh so now we have the officials to blame.

And the fair shake deal you speak of is asinine at best.

Just keep worshipping at the feet of Bruce. All will be well.

One game in January, which was a solid win, and you among others are ready to crown him.

Never once did I blame Pearl for McBee's not seeing the shot clock.

McBee threw up a prayer and it went in. Some days they fall, and some they don't.

Ask some of the KU guys who had some wide open looks.

Look it up. Oh wait, it's not there. I'm from Tn, and lived in Tn for over 30 years. I love Tn. All my best friends are there and from there. I'll be back at some point, and wish it was sooner. Maybe I said you were a redneck who knew nothing, although i don't remember that either, but I definitely wouldn't dis Tennesseans, since I am a proud one. Once again, you don't comprehend well. Get off the internet, troll. UT beat #1 Kansas yesterday.
