Wow, I don't know what to say. This was the biggest win since Memphis '08. There has been something in the air since the Memphis game and I really felt like we would give Kansas a game tonight. Winning this game was an amazing feeling as a Tennessee fan, especially due to the negative news we have received in men's b-ball and football recently.
First and foremost, congratulations to Coach Pearl. He is an amazing coach and I am so proud to have him at UT. Bobby Maze played the best game of his UT career. He talked the talk and walked the walk. Incredibly impressive on both sides of the floor. I was very disappointed with him last year but he is now in control of the game and a great floor leader. Maze and Hopson have an amazing familiarity with each others b-ball styles and they play very well together. The same can be said for Bone and McBee. Those guys have deadly 3 point shooting skills. Bone's form is incredible. I had no idea he had a shot like that. In regards to Renaldo Woolridge he played extremely hard, but those shots will not fall consistently in the future. He got very lucky, but also saved us in the first half and got our momentum back. Additionally, Woolridge has a lot of offensive potential but he is really going to have to work in the offseason to get stronger and quicker. He also needs to start throwing bounce passes because teams are going to scout him and steal his weak passes across the court.
On the negative side, we have to close out on rebounds, get to the three point shooter quicker and obviously make free throws. Kansas played about as poorly as they could have played, probably because of Bruce's gameplan and K. Hall's tremendous defense against Alrich. He was fighting all night. Overall, this was extremely impressive and I am looking forward to getting our 3 suspended players back for added depth. They can have a fresh spot on the bench to back up McBee, Hall and Bone. The suspended players will have to earn their playing time again.
