Calling Out Pearl Haters (merged)

Nice win today. Make that a great win, but I want to see this kind of effort in March...when it really matters. Otherwise, if we have a first round exit, this win becomes irrelevant...unless you are one of those "Pearlophiles" who will use this game to say how great Pearl is.

Well done tanker. It was a good, no...great, REGULAR SEASON win

Wow, I don't know what to say. This was the biggest win since Memphis '08. There has been something in the air since the Memphis game and I really felt like we would give Kansas a game tonight. Winning this game was an amazing feeling as a Tennessee fan, especially due to the negative news we have received in men's b-ball and football recently.

First and foremost, congratulations to Coach Pearl. He is an amazing coach and I am so proud to have him at UT. Bobby Maze played the best game of his UT career. He talked the talk and walked the walk. Incredibly impressive on both sides of the floor. I was very disappointed with him last year but he is now in control of the game and a great floor leader. Maze and Hopson have an amazing familiarity with each others b-ball styles and they play very well together. The same can be said for Bone and McBee. Those guys have deadly 3 point shooting skills. Bone's form is incredible. I had no idea he had a shot like that. In regards to Renaldo Woolridge he played extremely hard, but those shots will not fall consistently in the future. He got very lucky, but also saved us in the first half and got our momentum back. Additionally, Woolridge has a lot of offensive potential but he is really going to have to work in the offseason to get stronger and quicker. He also needs to start throwing bounce passes because teams are going to scout him and steal his weak passes across the court.

On the negative side, we have to close out on rebounds, get to the three point shooter quicker and obviously make free throws. Kansas played about as poorly as they could have played, probably because of Bruce's gameplan and K. Hall's tremendous defense against Alrich. He was fighting all night. Overall, this was extremely impressive and I am looking forward to getting our 3 suspended players back for added depth. They can have a fresh spot on the bench to back up McBee, Hall and Bone. The suspended players will have to earn their playing time again.

Thaanks. Biggest win in the programs history.

So it wasn't just a good regular season win? Did we skip to March?

Would rather the boys shoot clean and score the points from the field than rely on free throws. The only way free throws are gonna hurt is if the game is close. They keep playing like this they're gonna be hard to stop. GO VOLS!!!!!!!! Proud of ya guys.:good!:

yeah its ashame, he should be fired, he beat the number 1 team with 3 walk ons on the floor for most of the second half. fact is pearl is the best coach tennessee has had or will ever have.

Great win. Like him or not, this is the 34th time during the Pearl era that attendance has been 20,000+. That is the bottom line even if he never makes it past the Sweet 16.

+1

I have no idea how we beat the #1 team shooting something like 50% from the line and missing some big ones late. I don't know if we'll be so fortunate next time.

You mean like when we played Memphis and they were #1? That's two in a row vs. #1's for CBP, both times with considerably less NBA talent. If that isn't coaching, what is it? I guess Phil Jackson sucks because Shaq couldn't hit a FT? How bout all CBP haters just eat foot until we lose again? He's a great coach and recruiter. Anyone saying different is a fool.

Worked with Bruce and have never really cared for him; I also don't think he is a great coach, but I will give him the credit that is due for today. That was a good win for the team with all the issues that have been hanging over their head the past two weeks.

We would have beaten undefeated and #1 Kansas by 15+....stupid Pearl, cant coach worth a lick!

:lolabove:

ok we just beat the #1 team in the nation with only 6 scholarship players 2 who only played 15 mins. due to fouls and walkons and freshman played a big part of the game and your sayin Pearl cant coach?? wtf are you dumb or blind he had those kids ready 2 play they may have missed some freethrows but he found a way to keep aldrige outa the paint and i think hes the best coach in the nation go vols!!! my only knock on this game is they wouldnt let us students storm the court that was some BS lol
