Was 4th on the depth chart with potentially all 3 returning plus a solid freshman incoming.

Sampson would be a fool to stay. RB's only have so many carries in them. NFL is life changing money. NIL is kids stuff comparitively.
Staying in college is wasting the first year of his rookie NFL contract. Can we match that rookie money? Likely. Can we give him that year back so he would be closer to the HUGE money second contract? Impossible.

If he stays in college, he doesn't believe he can make it to the second contract.

People think "we can match rookie money" but we cannot match having that year in the NFL that's closer to the big money second contract and closer to vesting in the pretty sweet NFL retirement.

He gone.

He doesn't enter and Sampson comes back, he is RB4 on the chart

Can't imagine Sampson returning if he has designs on a pro career. It's all about the second NFL contract, and staying delays that by another season, and as short as the shelf life is for NFL RB's, another season of heavy use here would only hurt him.

NIL money pales in comparison to what he can make if he becomes a regular rotational back in the NFL.

Really wish he would’ve stayed but I wish him good luck never could stay healthy… I think if he can stay healthy he will be a really good asset to someone’s roster

I really don't understand this. He flashed massive potential as a freshman. Why leave because of injuries? If he isn't meeting expectations that's one thing, but if he is truly not playing necause of injuries makes no sense.

His injuries have cause him to be buried on the depth chart

Of all the positions where we could lose a star player without significant impact, it's the running back position. Peyton Lewis is an absolute standout and was going to take a lot of snaps regardless of who was ahead of him.

CJH has recruited the position extremely well.

Look at his high school stat guys. He had very little compared to what he should have. Something tells me he's always been a problem. Hope he figures it out.

I pay as much attention to this stuff now as a horoscope. Until the whistle blows it’s anybody’s guess who’s playing. The years of a 4 year player are dead.

No surprise here. Best of luck to Cam. Cam did not seem to have the natural running back instincts and vision for an SEC back. There is potential and hopefully he can find his spot and be blessed with good health. Wonder if Virginia Tech could be an option?

That one definitely hurts. He was probably the most versatile of our returning backs. I think we could use a portal running back.

Weak Weak Weak. No competitive person gives up a chance to play in the playoff.

UT has already offered a RB from South Alabama. They are already shopping in the portal for RBs.

Hate this for us, but if this what he thinks is best then best of luck for the future. Am a fan of Cam and will be following his career wherever he might go. Glad he chose to be a Vol.
