Can we please stop booing our own players and coaches?

You just proved my point that you still live in the past. The program that manages their NIL fund the best and allocates their dollars to the players that perform the best the quickest will win the new world of college football.

Also how much time an NFL player spends honing his craft is not comparable here. In the NFL every single player is an NFL level player. Only 2% of college football players make it to the NFL. Not drafted, I mean ever put in an NFL uniform. You don't need to spend every waking hour honing your craft to shred teams that consist of 98% players that also don't spend every waking hour honing their craft and will never be that good. That's why you see so many QB shred the college game and completely fail in the NFL. It's all about how much money you give to the players that perform right now. If you can't do that effectively you will never ever win with consistency in the new NCAA.
It's obvious you'll never get it

Stop being so soft. Perform to your potential or be booed. There is A LOT of money being exchanged.

I don’t think it affects recruiting as much as you think. Everyone can see why they are booing, and most of the time it is justified.

I think booing the other team running into the field and the POTSB playing their fight song is indicative of our own inferiority. Just classless.

Then we complain when we get booed at Florida and UGA. GO figure.
I consider the other team booing us as a compliment. Better than pretending like we aren't worthy of their hatred.;)

Booing is perfectly fine when the play calling is atrocious, like when we ran up the middle on 3rd and long multiple times

Did you ever compete at a sport at that level while in college?

If they play like crap and continue to play like crap they get boo'd. Pretty simple. As consumers, you pay for something and that comes with expectations. If they are not met, you have consequences and booing seems very minor on that list.

NFL fans boo their teams all the time. Since this is NFL light now it's going to happen and more often. People pay for tickets, players are getting compensation. This is only collegiate sports in name anymore..

I see no problem with booing….. as long as they do it to their face.. But…………………..

I’m betting 100% would s*** their pants if that was the case!

No, they don't get paid remotely the same way.

We have political signs and flags with one of the stronger curse words in the English language being proudly displayed on homes and vehicles the last four or five years. Didn’t think I’d see the day when that was considered acceptable.
Yeah, I’m a bit surprised and to be honest, don’t care for profanity. It’s amazing parents throw out four letter words and take God’s name in vein. And they are okay if their kids use profanity which is insane (to me).
Anyway, some disagree and that is okay. But nobody should scream “F-U” chants in unison during a game. I saw/heard grown men and women joining in around the stadium. 🤦

It's got me wondering what it means when so many posters--who are sports fans, fans of winners and excellence and achievement--are so energized to ride and defend the low horse?

What's this attraction to embracing the lowest common denominator for public behavior? Has anyone here in the past dozen years seen too much positive, respectful of others, mutually edifying, neighbor affirming behavior? Where is this excess of "goodness" that needs to be balanced out by lowering expectations and aspirations?

I can't tell if this "Columbia University" envy, or just wishing to live inside a good ol' boy country song.
I see you completely missed the point to attempt to strengthen your lack of argument. The key factor here being money. With money comes the attachment of expectations/wants. College football is a business. Always has been, even more so as of late. Most fans don’t have a direct line to Heup. When they pay 1500 to sit in those stands with their family, the only likely avenue of feedback is being vocal. Cheers for good things, boos if they think things have gotten bad enough. You may not like it but it really is that simple. It’s not really my thing either but I don’t condemn anyone for it. If I get terrible service somewhere, I will let the vendor/person know. I own a business and often voice displeasure with vendors, employees, etc. For every service there is feedback in life. In this case the feedback is vocal, or if bad enough not buying tickets. If you go buy a steak at Ruth Chris and it’s a cold piece of rubber I’d bet you’d send it back to the kitchen. These people have bought tickets and this is their avenue to complain.

Who is booing? Granted I wasn't there in person, but on the telly, I didn't get any of what you're describing. Are you just witching like the "sit down" crowd or do you have evidence this really happened?
I was there Saturday and trust me, there were numerous folks booing the offense and the play calling. It was noticeable.

I played D1 baseball and we got heckled by our fans a time or two and we deserved it. If athletes are so soft that it effects them they have a mentality problem. I would be more pissed off with myself to really give a crap what fans did.
