Carr looking to Transfer

Oh, believe me. I get it. Calling him overrated and saying we are going to wash our hands of him is a little over the top.

He will only be a sophomore this year, yet people are trashing him and saying he never developed. Maybe he doesn't play as physical as he should be with his body. You never know what's going on with these kids.

I just don't get the whole fan mentality of trashing a player who decides that the best opportunity for him is elsewhere. It's not like he is dogging the program or anything. Him staying and attempting to work harder and contribute is what we all want, but if the evidence is there that he isn't a good fit, what can you do?

If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. Can't force the kid into wanting to give his all for TN.

Let's tip our hat to the young man for giving what he has given to the program. Wish him best of luck and move on.

Agreed. It amazes me some of the trash talk you see on here from fans about these kids. The hate reminds me of the crap a teenager says on FB about the girl that recently broke up with him.

Good ole VN , a player leaves and they turn on him and dog the kid. He might be soft or whatever but there is no sense in dogging the kid. When he was out recruiting for Tn and committing to Tn , most of you same people were booming all over yourselves.
I notice its always the coaches that is in the right in these situations. Its not like these kids on the defensive side of the ball are getting coached by the best out there. Butch did hire 2 rejects that got fired at the same time from Ga.

On a more positive note, Chris Weathered just called TSR and said he graduated from JUCO, so he made his grades and will be here for the summer camp.

I've said it at least 2 dozen times on this site. To the point of obnoxious....BE CAREFUL HOW HARD YOU WHO YOU RECRUIT OUT OF MEMPHIS....Not saying we haven't had success with several Memphis guys...Dan Williams and Eric Still come to mind along with others and Stokes most recently in bb.....both basketball and football....but pal you better know who you're getting when you come to Memphis....Yall can argue that point if you want but I've been following this stuff for 40 years now....spend our money and time somewhere else because its to much of a gamble sleeping in Memphis a lot just to recruit a couple of kids...having said ALL that I sure hope we land the Richmond kid at MUS....good kid who I think can play....

I never brag...and this definitely isn't the time...but I called this...he's a 3-4 DE...not a 4-3 DT or an offensive lineman...I hate Bama, but if he wants a transfer there,Butch should sign off...if that's not possible I think he goes JUCO and ends up there anyway.

NEVER let a player go to a future opponent.

Other than that... good post.

This kid was riding the dam greyhound to be a part of that first class. Sometimes it ain't the kid. Sometimes the coaches screw up. I don't think they've handled this one well.

That sucks

Why? He was moved to O-line where he couldn't play either. He was sucking at D-line to begin with. CBJ only kept him last yr because dool-aid had offered him. He's a huge disappointment and I emphasize the work HUGE!

another Memphis hs football product going home. The days of Cedrick Wilson and Andre Lott are as gone as they really are

Given the swiftness certain fans turn on Memphis players, who can blame for going home. They already know the deep in the core attitude of East Tennesseans toward Memphis residents. Which makes a lie of CBJ's One Tennessee mantra, which is no fault of Jones.

No he ate the greyhound! He was not stepping up in practice so it has nothing to do with riding the bus! Hell I would do that if they gave me a scholarship. Either trust the coaches decisions or your not supporting this staff. We are not there at practice and workouts etc...and cannot see his work ethic which was obviously lacking.

too slow, too stiff and not athletic enough for SEC football..

I hate to see a player leave, but you're totally right. He does appear "soft" and "stiff", all at the same time (lol).

I would normally agree with you...in this case I think Butch would score major recruiting points while doing the right thing.
