Carr looking to Transfer

Score points with who? Players who are not completely sure that Tennessee is right for them but sign here anyway because they know they can always leave with no consequences? No, you don't grant releases to players to transfer within the conference. Having said that, I hope Carr stays and gives it another year.

EVERY coach follows that line "NOT WITHIN MY CONFERENCE"...you don't think a coach who goes in the best interest of a player would score points with-------------------------------RECRUITS?

All that being said I don't see room at BAMA for him so this is most likely a moot point...fun arguing widjuns anyway :wink2:

Hate to hear it. It was obvious after the doing that he wasn't going to help us out much on the DL, but I really thought he could've helped out on the OL.

No, I don't think an open door policy within the conference would help to land a single recruit. Even high school kids understand that transferring within the same conference comes with a high price. That's just standard. There is no reason for a coach to have a unilateral policy that could potentially lead to a competitive disadvantage (not necessarily with Carr but if you make an exception for him, you would be expected to do the same for other xfers as well and nobody wants to do that). I hope Carr decides to stay and our coaching staff will make it clear that they want him to stay but if he is determined to leave he should only be granted a release outside the SEC.

I never brag...and this definitely isn't the time...but I called this...he's a 3-4 DE...not a 4-3 DT or an offensive lineman...I hate Bama, but if he wants a transfer there,Butch should sign off...if that's not possible I think he goes JUCO and ends up there anyway.

If he aint good enough to play at UT, he sure as heck aint good enough to play at Bama.

This young man wasn't able to meet expectations apparently, but he's done nothing to mar his university or his team. He does not deserve some of the comments here.

So you can't see it...go ahead and assume :good!:

No assumptions. Hearing the coach and understanding that Carr was sucking hind tit. Why else was he moved from D-line to O-line to begin with or little to no playing time last year when he could have gotten onto the field?

If you can't shed a block and then you can't block, it's time to move on.

I had high expectations for him like you and others when he showed the dedication during bus rides to knoxville or at least that is what was reported. Disappointed but he's not the first 4* to not make it an won't be the last.

I wish him well and hope it works out for him.

I was excited when we got him. I remember being worried that Bama was gonna steal him at the last second. Thought he was gonna be a beast. Perhaps he didn't fit the 4-3 and is better suited for a 3-4. I hope he excels out of the SEC.

Can't blame him for not wanting to switch positions....however, all the more reason to respect those who do. Best of luck, Carr!

There is no way someone who can't cut it on our depleted defensive line would even get a sniff from Bama. That is just crazy talk. It is not a matter of what position he plays. If he transfers I don't think there will be much interest from any other SEC team. By all reports he just doesn't have the ability or attitude of a defensive lineman.

Different skill set...he'd be an excellent 3-4 DE...if not at Bama somewhere else that runs it.

Guys...just chill for a minute. It wouldn't be the first time a player under-performs as a freshman and sophomore. We've had some develop into really good starters...but do so late in their college career. Robert Ayers comes to mind, for one...and he ended up getting drafted in the top half of the 1st Rd, by the Broncos.

Some are just late bloomers. Some need to change their bloomers, and others...never mind; you get the point. :)

So he should fight to play on a 5 win a year program? Come on man the " You could play for Tennessee" only works when ranked teams don't spank you by 20+ consistently.
He tried and it wasn't for him. Playing angry is dumb too IMO. Play aggressive and smart. Playing angry leads to penalties, ejections, and coaching changes.
Coaches are not mad at him, he doesn't seem mad, why are you bitter towards him? This has nothing at all to do with you and will not affect you at all. He wasn't going to start, struggled to get into the 2 deep mix so even as a fan the only thing you miss is him on the sideline. A best of luck would be enough.

Tell that to al Wilson John Henderson Albert haynesworth and leanard little. In sure they fully agree with this. And yes they did play angry dont say something stupid like they didn't.

Local 8 news tonight confirmed via CBJ that Carr indeed was transferring. SIAP Good luck Mr Carr.

This is not a bad thing. This will only aid our roster, especially once you consider how important it is we find roster spots for the class of 2015. If he wasn't able to fill a role on the team then perhaps he made the correct decision. Best of luck to him. I'm sure Memphis would be a good destination for him.
