I don't really find him to be negative at all. He has concerns and a lot of them are legit. I think most people's problem with him is that they want to believe that the nightmare is over right now for this program. His concerns questions these people's beliefs and whether they admit it or not, it makes them take a step back and question some things themselves. Sometimes they may not like what they see.

The real problem is his going from thread to thread harping on his "concerns" endlessly. At some point people just say enough already.

Case in point. Though I respect him and think he's a better QB than many give him credit for, I have doubts about Worley. Mainly due to a very green OL and his lack of mobility based on what I saw last season. But I don't harp on it all over VN, I mentioned it a few, very few times. But I don't hop around VN repetitively putting Worley down. I'm Dobb Goblin crazy right now but that's not a putdown on the team. I think Peterman's performance at Florida was a disaster, but I don't put NP down day in and day out all over VN. If I did, even I would have to call me out and tell me, enough is enough. Why not just state the concerns once, maybe twice if that. Then wait and see if those concerns prove valid or not. If yes, it's only fair to beat the rest of us on the head with an, "I told you so." Not be anti-hope and anti-faith and seemingly wanting everyone else to be that way. Until then, enough already.

If anyone wants to insist on being down everyday, I suggest faithfully and daily reading, "Soap, Soap, Soap." You might even learn to laugh and be less down and negative. The Storyteller Online - Dr. Mike Lockett

I try to see things from both viewpoints. I see your point and respect it, but it can be just as annoying seeing people ignore legitimate problems constantly.

Example.

There is no way that anyone in their right mind can say, judging from what we have seen, that any of the four QBs on this roster has what it takes to get us where we want to be. Yet, there are a million posts by people proclaiming otherwise.

Granted. But no need to horse whip the team you profess to support practically every day. Whether you can find a horse to whip them with or not.

JMIO, sjt18. It would help if you didn't throw out negative posts from thread to thread. We get it, you don't think we have or will do well. We get it, you don't think Jones has been all we think and hope he is or even will be. Or that certain of our players are all that. We get it.

For some of us, hope springs eternal. For some of us, we believe victory begins with believing you can win as it sets the whole attitude and effort you spend. When I walk into Neyland, or see on TV all that orange, I and many others even when no reason exists, believe and give Team Orange all the support we have to give. Feed them that energy and belief. When we lost to Georgia, a team experts felt we didn't even belong on the same field with, you saw it. A standing ovation for Pig and his team's effort. Knowing that better things were coming and not too far off. This is what we need, not constant putdowns of our team and coaches.

We get it. We're bad now. But beneath that bad beats an orange heart pumping orange blood. A heart that was once sick, beat slowly and laboriously, dying. But suddenly the beat is stronger though the creature is still in a sort of semi-coma. The breathing is strong enough to take off the ventilator. The defribillator can be put away. And Dr. Jones is saying, "The patient is responding to treatment but not out of the woods yet. Results are promising but there's no guarantee. Only time will tell."

Would be nice to see you, sjt18, cheer for the good news we do have about our team. Instead of constantly doubting, denigrating, and more. The patient was left for dead more or less but refused to die. Despite having endured doctors who misdiagnosed and whose treatments compounded complications rather than healed them. So kindly stand up and be proud the team and program acted like Tombstone, the town too tough to die.

Dude...Wood's going all William Wallace up in here :salute: Good post!

It's not whipping, imo. I love and support this team but that doesn't mean I'm going to ignore the problems with it. At some point you have to look at the deficiencies and acknowledge them and demand more if you really care about them.

I'm going to stop here. Sjt doesn't need me to defend him. He is quite capable of doing that on his own.

Well. . .I spoke to Elvis. Told him the trials and travails of our team and its fans. Told him too of the grumbling, infighting, despair, all the stuff going on, you know. And, uh, he just sort of looked at me for a bit. Pick up a satin white guitar and sang:

There will be peace in the valley for you, some day
There will be peace in the valley for you, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
There will come a far better tomorrow.
No trouble that troubles any of you.
There will be peace in the valley for you, for you
.

Then he just got up and, the oddest thing, vanished like a vapor mist into nothingness. I was left to wonder if it was a vision, a hallucination, or just my imagination. I decided it didn't matter. Not really. Didn't matter at all.
There will be peace in the valley for you, some day.

Elvis was a Memphis fan.
Screw Elvis.

And I keep repeating them as MY way of saying "enough already" with the blind faith and optimism that ignores obvious things.

Not be anti-hope and anti-faith and seemingly wanting everyone else to be that way. Until then, enough already.
I am not anti-hope or anti-faith even. I am opposed to those who just refuse to deal with reality. You apparently think I'm the debil or something but I'd pretty much let off talking about last year until others started bringing it up. So they start up with the same ol' stuff, I respond with the same ol' stuff... and you blame me.

I AM hopeful. I am hopeful that the young talent comes along quickly enough to get six or 7 wins this fall. I am hopeful that Jones' words about "doing it the right way" and "being disciplined" to a process aren't just words and help explain what looked like pretty poor coaching last fall. I am hopeful that last fall was not an indication of the true ability of this staff.

And again, if you all will stop pretending like it didn't happen and that it doesn't at a minimum raise questions... I will happily not bring it up either.

One question, if as most of us think, UT is on the road to success, will you be here to admit that you are stupid?

Take that post in context please.

I was responding to someone who VERY stupidly posted what "they" thought I might say... and lied while doing it. They took a completely unnecessary and gratuitous shot at me.

I have never said that Jones would not succeed. I have said that they underperformed the talent of last year's roster and that the coaching looked poor at times last year. I have very SPECIFICALLY said that I hoped it was all part of a process that would lead to success. But right now, it is the only results we have to evaluate... and for me they look WAY too much like Dooley results. That includes things that the current staff had complete control over like playcalling, adjustments, and player corrections.

You are probably one of the most negative posters I have had the displeasure of encountering. Every time I stumble across on your negative filled rants, I often think to myself, "Why are they even a fan?"

You come across as a very bitter and negative person. That schtick gets old....quick.

Then please accept this criticism in complete sincerity. You have misjudged me 100%.

Who told you that YOUR reality is actual reality? What makes the reality of someone else less valid than yours? If you would even have a tiny positive thought, I bet you that life would be a lot more enjoyable.

FWIW, I am so "negative" that I have "harped" all over the forum that I believe all 4 of UT's QB's have the innate talent to be very good SEC QB's.

But... someone here will find a way to spin that as a negative comment too probably.

My problem is you're stonewalling a man before he gets the job done.

I suspect its due to battered-wife syndrome. You know that anything in life worth having takes time and hard work.

I actually have a worse outlook than you this year.
