Cbj

That's the most ridiculous statement I have seen on this forum since I joined and that was not an easy task to accomplish. REALLY, you saw improvement on offense? That's beyond laughable - even CBJ himself would have to laugh at that.

Running game was much better...resume milk snot fountain.

If you're using Dooley as the benchmark then you're setting your sights a little low!

Look at it a little differently. Beating top 10, top 5 teams is a benchmark the team needs to hit. Dooley couldn't do it in 36 games, 3 seasons.... Butch hit the benchmark accomplishment after 7 games, 1 season.

CBJ did manage to do something Dooley never could and that's beat a top 10 team.

Which was a great moment but does not excuse or offset losing to Vandy, historically bad UF team, and epic proportion blowouts vs Bama, Oregon, Mizzou, and Auburn (all those games were over in second quarter). Also, don't forget that CBJ lost to CDD head to head.

And what exactly did that get Butch/UT? At the end of the day, both teams were sitting home during the bowl season.

Honest question, will the win over S. Carolina have any impact on this team in 2014?

Who knows? Have no idea. It was a major accomplishment for a team that desperately needed a major accomplishment. It's an example the coaches can use to show what can happen if the guys play to their potential, play with focus, believe they can win. In the end I couldn't say one way or the other.

I'm sure a lot of guys would say definitively that the Vandy loss would more likely have an impact on the 2014 team than the SCar win. I don't believe that.

Maybe he was. There should be absolutely no stock put into what a coach says in an interview or press conference whatsoever. It is entirely meaningless.

The FACT is, the 2013 team was MUCH less talented than the 2012 team. Don't try to suppress ESSENTIAL context by ignoring it all and just saying "oh, he should have won this many games JUST BECAUSE"
To say that the 2013 team shouldn't have won six games is absolute and total denial.

Jones "jr" team beat Franklin's "sr" team... It's 1-1.

I am so happy that you can count his win at Cinci. I, on the other hand, could care less. If he goes 1-0 where it counts, we are bowling. Completely different perspective on the situation.

Just stating historical fact. They've played head to head twice ....each has a win. I was as pissed as anybody that they lost that Vandy, there was no excuse for it. But nobody said the argument was Butch's UT team vs Franklin's Vandy team. Given that Butch played his "Jr Varsity" Cincy team vs Franklin's "Varsity" SEC team and won, I'd think that carries a little more weight in Butch's favor. Definitely different perspectives.

You make it sound like Cincy was a traveling intramural team...it seems even more impressive that a "fake" team coached by Butch beat Vandy...maybe like Butch outcoached J'Fra?

If we knew before the season that a hapless Josh Dobbs would be quarterbacking half the season, a preseason expectation of six wins would have been the real denial.

But once again, you seem to not want to acknowledge that the 2013 was much less talented than the 2012 team. Unless you disagree with that notion, of course.

Junior ball at Cinci doesn't matter to UT football.
They've played once.

That makes no sense to me.

History is history, theyve played twice and each won a game. And yes, Cincy does mean something to UT...have you removed that W from the record books when Jones played Dooley?

Didn't TN have legendary offensive coaching talent that year?...andlosetoKentucky:ermm:

They were so bad that they lost to Kentucky led by WR playing QB - but apparently still so much better than our current best in America staff which they easily blew out.

After next season, if we don't see the signs of our coaches' prowess...I'll own it and give you a shoutout...if the opposite happens...I expect you to reciprocate.

I'd say don't hold your breath, not that I don't think you are smart enough to figure that out.

"The signs" will be arbitrary and interpreted through stubborn and negative know it alls.

just like your "signs" of their greatness... We are using proof when discussing his failures. You're using dreams...

I don't know what you was watchin then cause the tailbacks I watched was improved from last year. More yards after contact and more yards per game. They were more disciplined with fewer penalties and Worley was hand over fist better when he got hurt from the 1st couple games he started for us. So yes I saw improvement. I guess you and butch can laugh together with every body else on this board that doesn't agree but that's what I saw. They don't have to be record setting to be improved. It wasn't great but it was improved.
