CFP Show implies Ohio State to Orange

Shame on the sec for agreeing to tie in’s that get us scraps and gets manipulated six ways to sunday. The bowls should be able to pick who they want. Period. Big 10-pac just uses the Rose bowl as leverage for anything and everything. SEC need to opt out of tie ins and put the top teams in the top bowl games. Period. GBO

They would be SEC champions dude they will let them in when has the SEC champ ever been left out

The problem is all the past examples you’re comparing them to are teams that had 0 losses or 1 loss. LSU, on the other hand, has 3 losses. The SEC Championship on its own isn’t an automatic bid into one of the playoff berths; it was the combination of it plus that team being an undefeated or 1 loss team that got them into the playoffs.

Why would Rose want PSU over OSU? I don't get that point.

I doubt they would. I think it was just more of a talking point.

I’m also not sure that contractually they can reach down the line like that either…that would open up a whole mess during years where one of the smaller teams won the conference (why take conference champion Illinois or Purdue when you can just take an Ohio State or Michigan instead?).

It wouldn’t be the first time that a school rejected a bowl bid in favor of another. It often comes down to what is better for the conference. In reality, the Cotton Bowl has become the bastard step child of the NY6…
Michigan in the CFP, Penn State in Rose, OSU in Orange is better for their conference than Penn State shafted to the Cotton Bowl…
How about letting all bowls decide who they want for the best game possible. Not just a bunch of catering and manipulating by a certain group that they get the best matchups. Yes am talking about the big 10-pac and their cronies trying to get their priority teams in the best spot damned everyone else. GBO

If LSU beats UGA, they end up in the Cotton Bowl. If OSU gets the Orange Bowl and Bama gets the Sugar Bowl... that leaves us with the Citrus Bowl against 8-4 Illinois/Perdue. It would be an utterly disappointing way to end the season.

LSU would automatically go to the Sugar Bowl in that case. They’d be the SEC Champions and the Sugar Bowl has to contractually take the SEC Champion if that team’s not in the playoffs.

Yep the sec champ automatically goes to sugar unless they are in playoffs which they won’t be with 3 losses.

Other than being a nice venue with a decent matchup, if the Vols aren't in the CFP, then I don't care where they play.

The 'Orange versus Orange' Orange Bowl Game sounds like a marketing no-brainer to me.

A rematch with Penn State in the Rose Bowl would be nice to see.

That said, anywhere in Florida would certainly be enjoyable, as would Jerry's World. I've only ever seen pictures, but heard its nice.

To be quite frank, at this point I am just waiting for next year now. This year's bowl game is just icing on the cake.

Yeah…we can’t end up in the Rose Bowl. Contractually it’s Big 10 vs Pac 12 during non-playoff years and that’s it.

I’m telling y’all get ready for chaos. LSU beats Georgia, Kansas. St beats TCU, UTAH beats Southern Cal it will be LSU, Georgia, Bama and Michigan in final four now if Michigan loses it might be us or Ohio St probaly Ohio St since they have one loss

No, no it will not be. Even with said chaos.

If those things happen then LSU could get in, they never leave out the SEC champ and LSU would have wins over Georgia and Bama and Ole Miss

And a bad loss to a very bad Texas A&M. Yes, yes they would leave them out, even as the SEC Champion.

Yep. UGA and UM are in regardless. I think TCU gets the boot if they lose...USC too. That leaves 2 spots. OSU is the first one back in....then it's absolute chaos for #4....should be us, but after last night who knows.

I think they were implying OSU would decline Rose Bowl invite... which seems nuts cause I would think it pays more than the Orange right?

Other way around, the Rose Bowl possibly taking Penn State instead of Ohio State.

With the conferences’ revenue sharing models, though, the payout the teams get for the Rose and Orange Bowls are pretty much the same amount (not to mention a big chunk of it goes to the conference to be split up among all the teams anyway).

Per Austin price: Ohio State pulling strings to not go back to Rose Bowl and politicking for Orange which would push Vols to Dallas would be big blow for fans who want best matchup vs Clemson over Tulane or UCF. A TCU or USC loss this weekend would help.
If that were to happen 4 and 5 star recruits should not consider coming to UT. They need to go to Bama or Ohio State who get preferential treatment. Why waste your time at a secondary college program?

Not sure why the Orange wouldn’t be pushing for UT and Clemson. It makes the most sense for marketing and ass in seats. Not sure why they think OSU would be the better fit for this particular matchup. Orange on Orange in the Orange. Regional foes. Top ten teams. A little bit of barbs between the teams and fans. Seems to be a no brainer.

Unless Milton gets alot better throwing the ball in the next month, we just need to be happy with what we have gotten and not complain about what others have.
