If Alabama were 7 right now, with a USC and TCU loss, Alabama couldn’t make the playoffs at 7, they can at 6! It’s the committees last ditch effort to get Alabama in the playoffs! Now let’s say USC and TCU win. The committee may put Tennessee at 6 in the final rankings ahead of Alabama.

I am in the camp Tennessee meets criteria so should be ahead of Bama. That being said the rankings they placed Bama ahead in this poll. Neither team can improve their resume now so if they flip Tennessee and Bama that would show how egregious their incompetence is. Rankings based off convenience.

Living in Oregon, I would make this game. Actually think Tenn would travel nicely to California. Lots to do the week leading up to the game. I most want this scenario. But then that me just wanting it to be an easy trip.

Per Austin price: Ohio State pulling strings to not go back to Rose Bowl and politicking for Orange which would push Vols to Dallas would be big blow for fans who want best matchup vs Clemson over Tulane or UCF. A TCU or USC loss this weekend would help.

If the Rose Bowl can pass on the B1G team required by the Bowl Charter, then why does the Rose Bowl even have to take a B1G team? They could invite UT. We are just as viable as a team that doesn't meet the requirements of the Bowl's slotted teams.
tOSU would rather go to Pasadena than Miami.

And, if we end up in the Cotton Bowl, it is not ideal, but still caps a great season. I have reservations about going to the Orange Bowl with Milton.
The Sugar is a better matchup for us, but the Cotton matchup would play better to our team strengths.

He still threw for 22 TDs and 7 ints.

But if they did beat Georgia they would automatically get the sugar bowl bid. That would really throw a wrench in New Years 6 games. Say Ohio State knocks Bama and Tennessee out of Orange bowl slot. I am all in favor of removing tie ends. Seems like it only screws sec. Let the biggest bowls select their own teams in a designated order without no tie ins period. GBO
