Chances the Vols have a great recruiting class

Oh, no. Not the blanket "you aren't a true fan if you don't blindly support your coach" argument. How will I ever survive that one?

And who is "the rest of us"? I don't see a whole lot of people believing in Dooley.

So if I believe Dooley is going to do well, according to you that puts me in the minority. So wouldn't that make you the blind follower?

QB - Worley (5.9), Wegzyn (5.6)

RB - Hayes (5.9), Gibson (5.7)

WR - Arnett (5.9)

TE - Rome (6.0), Anderson (5.7)

OL - Richardson (5.9), Posey (5.8), Kerbyson (5.8), Luatua (5.7), Harris (5.6), Crowder (5.6)

DT - Redden (5.8), Carson (5.7), Robinson (5.6), Niles (5.5)

DE - Drew (6.0), Bailey (5.9)

LB - Grant (6.1), Paul (5.9), Harris (5.8), Johnson (5.8)

S - Randolph (5.9), Martin (5.7)

CB - King (5.7)

1 five *, 14 four *'s, 11 three *'s...2275 to 2325 Rivals points...5th to 8th overall finish

Do you really think we can get Drew? I sure hope so but he seems like he would rather go elsewhere. I could be wrong though.

Yes, because Dooley has done so much to show that he is capable of winning at UT. Boy was I wrong :eek:lol:

I admit there are some stretches on my list...Drew being one of them...but I didn't put anyone on there that hasn't expressed at least a medium to high level of interest in us...

Drew, Grant, Rome...yeah you could call them stretches...but February is a long way away...and in Drew's case in particular I like what I'm reading about Chuck Smith and his ability to sell himself and the program that he loves so much

Way to convieniently dodge the question.

You're question doesnt need to be answered. It was stupid and bordered on douchebaggery.

Here's an equally stupid question.

How many losses would Kiffy Boy have against Utah St and Idaho had he coached at La Tech. Smart money is "as many as Dooley".

You are a fool if you believe that. He couldnt even beat UCLA. Yet he would turn around a terrible WAC team automatically. You fools crack me up.

Make sure you Dooley doubters check out this video. This dude has more football smarts in his pinky than the last one did in his whole body. Thank gawd we don't have to put up with uh, uh, um...and the ridiculous leg-rubbing anymore. Kiffin never looked the part of a head coach. This guy oozes "leader."

WBIR.com | Knoxville, TN | Derek Dooley has been on the job as Tennessee's coach for 104 days. Since then, he's finished recruiting, hired a staff, evaluated players and held spring practice.

Snarf Kiffin!! :)

I wonder if we would have had this many haters had we hired Dooley instead of Kiffin when he had a record of 13-12 instead of 17-20.

Wouldn't change a thing. Auburn interviewed Dooley for their job, but passed on him to hire Gene Chizik. That should tell you something. Not to mention he couldn't get an interview for the Memphis job before Tennessee came calling.

All that tells me is they went with the one that had a history with the school already. BTW how did that 5-19 hire work out for Auburn? He came from a situation similar to Dooley's.

I had no idea the Big 12 and the WAC were the same thing. Doesn't matter though. Neither coach will accomplish anything of significance where they are.

Wow you have a narrow viewpoint. I was saying the coaching situations were similar. They had both inherited one of the worst teams in their respective conference.

I don't understand why some of these people even have a UT badge under their name. They aren't even planning on giving this guy a chance. Maybe if you looked at the dude from the standpoint of coaching ability instead of just his record which was marred by a FREAKISH amount of injuries to KEY contributors in '09, you'd be able to form a more objective opinion.

The dude was the only head football coach in the country to also serve as the school's AD. He completely reinvented the Athletic Department during his 2 year tenure from the ground up including hiring a new women's b-ball coach and revamping the facilities.

The 2009 team at LaTech, IN SPITE, of having multiple injuries to key players, lost 5 of their games by a combined 23 points including the first halftime lead over LSU since 1904.

Nick Saban hand-picked this guy to be his recruiting coordinator because of his attention to detail and organizational skills.

I'm not saying jump on the Dooley for coach of the year bandwagon, but give the guy a chance to coach some games.

What concerns me is that this year is going to be bad, and it was regardless of who the coach was going to be. This Dooley hate will not subside until we show marked progress in '11. That is a long time to have to put up with this crap.

Yes. Everything you just said.

Really good interview. I don't really know what to think about Dooley. I would bet a lot of money that he is a more honorable person with higher ethics than Kiffin... but I'm not sure how much that honestly matters in college football. Saban is a notorious a-hole. Spurrier was a little punk at Florida (and I found him really funny at times). Either way, I don't get where you think that he has more "football smarts" than Kiffin from that interview. Like I said, I thought the interview was good, but it was mostly coach-speak.

Not trying to be whatever on Dooley... I'm going to give him his chance. But, we won't know for a while how good Dooley is as an actual coach.
