Charges Dropped in the Jussie Smollett Case

Question for you on this...

Who should check the DA's office to see if there was any undue influence or corruption that led to what happened?

What Hogg said.

I think it's a stretch to even see the feds get involved in capital crimes, partisan tomfuqery or not. As douchey as Somolett is and as disgusting as his actions were, it wasn't murder.

Clearly there is corruption in Chicago and I'd wager that the DA wishes they hadn't done what they'd done, essentially taking the 100% of the heat for covering for that POS.

Who could have ended up being compromised by this case? Obviously it's someone with a lot of influence..... a lot of influence

This is the usual conspiracy bullcrap we hear form you guys these days. And that's why Trump weighed in on it. The conspiracy loom will not spin us a yarn that Obama got them to drop the charges. No proof. No reason to even think it. But hey, he's black, they're black. Why not, right?

Pathetic.

Actually, it seems like people who are ultra-sensitive to hate crimes (i.e., not conservatives) should be most upset about it. It invites skepticism of other hate crimes, which might be legitimate, and just overall kind of makes a mockery of the whole thing.

For a lot of conservatives, frankly this kind of thing just confirms their notions about hate crimes.

OK, but what do you think about the tweet you just quoted?

They shouldn’t have sealed his records , that kind of crap is what starts conspiracy theories . If it’s a bad deal or a good deal let stand up to it and let the public see what you did . That would stop most of the conspiracy .

The entire law enforcement of Chicago is pissed, even their dim mayor. Something shady has transpired and that’s a fact.

That is my thought of the Tweet I quoted. That tweet appeared to be directed at people who are upset a guy got off easy for staging a fake hate crime. I'd say people who fall in that category definitely lean conservative. My point is that the people who should be most upset at Smollett aren't necessarily conservatives, but actually progressives, who are hyper-sensitive to hate crimes, and should respond really negatively to a guy making up a fake one. Yet I don't really hear a progressive outcry at what Smollett did.

Also, I wouldn't say that people who are critical of the Smollett outcome are outraged at the criminal justice system generally - they're more upset at this particular outcome. Conservatives aren't really outraged at the criminal justice system, generally speaking.

I have always thought murder is a hate crime.

Does it make the dead person any less dead if the perpetrator did it because of 'hate'?

I don't think the connection is black/black. It is more like Chicago/Chicago. Jussie is tied in with the Democratic Party, and the Democratic Party in Chicago has been notoriously corrupt for many years. They stole the election for Kennedy in 1960 out of Chicago/Cooke County.

I agree they are pissed and should be. If I live in Chicago, I would absolutely want to know why this happened.

The "something shady has happened" part is where you go off the rails, and imply the Obamas caused this to happen. There are many, many reasons a prosecutor chooses not to proceed with a case. They have enormous discretion. Often, when they drop charges, the officers involved never even hear of it.

So I am fine with people asking questions and wanting to know why the prosecutor dropped the charges. The notion that it was because the Obamas called and asked for that is just absurd. First, the file is sealed. If it had happened the numbskulls at the prosecutor's office wouldn't have documented it. Thus, no reason to seal it to protect that. Second, because of the outrage which was certain to occur, the Obamas would not intervene in this way.

The right's obsessive hatred of the Obamas needs to come to an end. You can't keep making them the proxy for everything you want to betch about when it comes to race relations.

I didn’t imply the Obama’s had anything to do with it. Would it surprise me though? Hell no. The level of corruption has to run high here.

I think otherwise. At some point, especially with the justice system, the Feds could and should look at what's going on and the "why" of it all. Especially in a case that went viral like this with a lot of potential to cause serious problems.

If asked by the state AG to look into it, fine. Otherwise feds need to stay on their side of the fence.

Why else would they pull the $*** they did? You think it's just because sweet Jussie is a nice guy? I'm not saying it was Obama, but why else would they seal everything? Grow up

Jussie got a favor called in... that is clear. And it came from the upper branches of the dimtree.

Second... I am now convinced LG is not a real person, but a software program designed to detect a conservative opinion and counter with a bunch of liberal bs. Mick and Luth are beta versions of the LG Program... they come with updated algorithms developed by Soros to bite a little harder.
