Charlie Strong

as I pointed out earlier, strong is neither an elite recruiter, nor even has as good of a record as chavis in dc duty. he is currently having his only good year, and his personality comes off completely wrong. terrible hire and terrible fit.

if he is winning with ky rejects, u are kind of admitting a lack of recruiting prowess.

Strong is an elite recruiter and his DC resume in the SEC is great . What do you find so bad about his personality? From what I have seen players, recruits and the UL fans like him.

this.

Will not accept a Charlie Strong hire. There are too many other coaches who would be better hires and are gettable.

The media is loving Charlie Strong. I think there are too many people with pipe dreams of Gruden swooping down on his heavenly chariot upon Neyland Stadium and bringing us a Nations Championship and a consensus Superbowl victory.

Strong isn't a bad hire.

Dude seems to have a strong defensive background.

Teddy Bridgewater and other Miami prospects laugh at your ignorance. Strong recruits Florida very well, especially Miami. He has Northwestern and Southridge on lockdown the last few years. Wouldn't you imagine it being hard to sell top recruits to Louisville? They are a basketball school not a football school! Calling him a bad recruiter is just dumb. I'm not saying he is anything like Saban, Meyer, or GRUDEN. But Strong has a better resume than what you all are giving him.

At Florida, yes he had a significant amount of talent, but he was still the DC there. That job was not handed to him it was earned. He was part of Zook's staff and was the ONLY coach Meyer retained from Zook's staff. :whistling:

I laugh at your ignorance, since your fellow pro Stronger's thesis was he was winning with "Ky rejects". His words not mine.

He has not had a top 25 class and is currently crushing it at the #73 class in the nation. Also, Clint Hurtt has a lot to do with Louisville's recruiting; he was at Miami for the #1 recruiting class in the nation and is the in guy there, not Strong.

Edit: Hmm yep sure enough Hurtt recruited Bridgewater and all the other Miami kids. HIM I wouldnt mind adding to staff; dude is a black Orgeron... coaches DLine and recruits like a beast. As long as he is not paying recruits...

Never mind, guy IS the black Orgeron.

So half of Louisville's best class including Bridgewater was made up of kids from Miami. Who coached at Miami previously? Hurtt. And guess who is big buddies with Hurtt? Nevin Shapiro. Take a look at this.

Guy is toxic. And to give Strong kudos for recruiting is iffy at best.

And all this stuff even trickles down to one Al Golden.

Finally!...Somebody gets it!...I was just looking over his recruiting class for this year and it is horrible...Heck even Kentucky is ahead of him in recruiting and UAB :eek:lol: Hurrt is the recruiter on that team no doubt!

I am not convinced Strong would be successful here. I think it's possible, but not convinced. So if you don't want him as a coach that's fine.

But to call Strong a bad recruiter or not an elite recruiter is just absolutely insane. Rivals and ESPN recruiting would disagree with you over multiple years. So would Urban Meyer. I'll take their opinions over yours, thanks. And ignoring the fact that he's trying to recruit to Louisville doesn't prove some kind of point for you. It just means you only see what you want to see.

Strong isn't leaving Louisville, especially since they'll be going to the ACC.
All the more reason to get while the getting is good. Look at Utah and TCU. Moved to major conferences and they are finding it to be a tough row to hoe.

Wittingham looked like a hot candidate, at Utah....specially after beating Saban in the Sugar Bowl a few years back. Now look at them/him. I think Strong is gone...somewhere.

I would love to see where he was recruiter of the year or on some top 10 recruiters list for a couple years while at UF or USC. Or some link to the role he played under Urban in recruiting. Must have missed where he was recruiting coordinator... dont you make your best guys the RC?

An elite recruiter to me is a guy like Orgeron or Rodney Garner. They just bring em in with their personality and salesmanship.

I never ignored he was recruiting to Lville. I just pointed out he brought a dozen Miami area players in directly because of an alleged super dirty assistant. In fact BECAUSE he is recruiting to Lville that stands out as supremely odd.

All the rest of the guys in that class were 3 star guys. Even if Strong recruited all 13 or so by himself, I would not say he is "great" or "elite." He does not seem great at any one thing; pretty good defensively, alright recruiter, one good year= not a good hire for this team. We are not Mississippi State you know.

His class currently is ranked 12 spots below KY, a team that is last in the SEC in recruiting. If he cant outrecruit a geographical rival what in the HELL is he doing being considered for the top open job in the country??

I don't understand all the love for Strong.

I hope he goes to AU. I don't want him at TN.

TN needs a big name hire that can get the job done. IMO he is not ready.

I would have no problem with Charlie Strong as our next HC. I'm afraid that Hart is putting all his eggs in the Gruden basket and by the time he moves on he'll be in panic mode adn make a horrible hire.
