Charlie Strong

Strong, dooley 2.0. improved, yes, but will still crash
BS comparison and you know it. Dooley didn't have anywhere near the credentials that Strong has. He was never even promoted to the coordinator level. Very telling. Strong, on the other hand, was a VERY successful coordinator for one of our chief rivals. And he has a team that was in the gutter 3yrs ago, in 3 straight bowl games....a BCS one this time around. Dooley...well, I don't have to say anything further. We all know he had a losing record as a HC, coming in.

And shut down our offense numerous times....just saying

Right now I don't think there are any coaches available to turn this thing around right now. Unless we steal someone from somewhere. Money talks. But it's hard to see certain coaches leaving to come here. But at least try to throw big money at someone besides gruden if he's really not coming. But not strong.
I think Patterson is a no-brainer and I'll be pissed if Hart doesn't even attempt to get him. Outside of Tressel, there is no other consistently successful HC at this level, we even remotely have a shot at.

We should make him the next top priority, and if not Strong or Tressel

Wasn't dooley in the same kind of position when we hired him as Kirby smart and Charlie strong is in?

Dooley was an average coach at a terrible school. He sold himself as "the next Saban" and made Hamilton fall in love with his southern accent.

I agree with you on Patterson but I don't even think we can get him! I honestly don't think many top coaches would want to and it pisses me off!

He's recruited well.

Knows the value of getting hands dirty and outworking on the recruiting trail.

This. He's recruited well at a Big East school and won the conference championship in his third season

Recruited well along the way. Right wrong or indifferent.

So many people keep posting this nonsense that Strong has recruited well. Please back that up with some actual facts.

His recruiting classes have been ranked by Scout as:

#64, #44, #33, #42, and now his BCS bowl season is leading to the currently #68 recruiting class for next year.

Yes he's shown himself to be a good coach but my goodness please stop with the "recruited well" BS.

Honest question. ... has there ever been a black ncaa head football coach maintain sustained success in the SEC or even all of college football for that matter?

Personally I think he might be our best option. But it doesn't appear that history is in our side for Strong being a long term solution.

Question...has there ever been a black coach who got a relatively decent job so he could show what he could do? The only ones I can think of are:

1)Ty Willingham
2)David Shaw
3)Kevin Sumlin

While many black coaches have failed when given the chance, they've been at programs where damn near everyone failed. Even white guys.

No, he's better than Dooley. He may not win NC's here, but he's better in all aspects of coaching than DD was. Some of you guys don't know how bad Dooley was.

I think my middle school coach was better in all aspects of coaching than DD was......hello!!!!!

Check those defensive classes at Florida. An SEC school.

Yeah let's bring in a coach who can recruit.......

Charlie Strong's recruiting record at Louisville would indicate that he can't recruit. At least not when he's selling anything other than Florida.

He has sucked it up recruiting at L'ville. He has not improved their recruiting ONE bit. In fact his 2013 class is currently #68 overall, 20 spots below last year's class. This while he has a BCS bowl season to hep out his efforts.

Stop it everyone with the claims that he is a great recruiter. He did well under someone else's leadership when he was selling a championship team, but when he is in charge he has not shown anything as a recruiter.

Let me make sure I am following you. His recruiting numbers aren't attractive to the so called "experts" but he is a good coach, wins games and gets to championships. Am I reading that correct?

Dude, admit it...you got an axe to grind. We aren't talking about Bama or LSU, here. You are not going to recruit in the top 25 at Louisville. It is a BASKETBALL school, and always has been. Even when Petrino was there, I doubt those #'s were any better.

Plus, this is his first year of having real success. If he stayed, that #68 will certainly change dramatically. He finally has something tangible to sell to recruits.

Patterson and Peterson don't have the best #'s as far as recruiting classes, and they've have success over several years. Yet, your logic actually works against your case. He is able to win his conference without a ton of talent.

Do you know what back-to-back commitments from two four-star players gets you?

A boost into the ESPN Recruiting Nation Top 25.

Louisville made its debut in the 2012 rankings when the updated list was released Thursday. You can check the write-up for where the program landed.

It has been a big week for the Cardinals, who got commitments from linebackers Keith Brown and and Nick Dawson on national television during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.

In January alone, Louisville has secured three four-star players -- with linebacker James Burgess also pledging to play for coach Charlie Strong. The Cardinals have commitments from five four-star players in the class of 2012. If Gerod Holliman, who signed in 2011 but went the prep school route comes on board, that gives them six four-stars with still a few weeks left to go before signing day.
