Charlie Strong

This has nothing to do with what we are talking about. We are talking about coach that aren't ready for the SEC. Its not looking too good for your friend allvol. Apparently coaches that come from smaller conferences aren't ready for the SEC.
The coaches from smaller conferences that came in and won in the SEC all had multiple 9 win seasons under their belt. So yeah that is what we are talking about. Strong would be a candidate if he does the same thing with Lville next year, but until he does that his track record is not proven to bear fruit. This train wreck needs a proven coach.

Perhaps in a few years, as you watch more football, you will know that the SEC is numero uno. Big 10, Pac 12, Big 12 have been pretty good. All others are a step ahead of Maryville College sized teams. I hope this helps.

Hey Batman!!! I never said the Big East is better than any conference. I said its a BCS conference (If im least mistaken) saying they aren't a real conference is just as ignorant as saying Charlie Strong isn't ready for the SEC.

It happens.

Saban lost two plays and four points due to clock management tonight, and went into the half with two timeouts still on the board.

Richt lost the SECCG tonight due to clock management.

They're still both great coaches, and "ready".

His point was about whether or not people were watching. We were.

How you feeling about the possibility of Strong coming?

Nervous. I think when Hart interviews the guy he wants, he will make the hire and it will be announced very shortly thereafter. By Friday I think if we are not talking about our new coach then something is very very wrong and we may be in trouble. Would love for Hart to hire Strong and release it tomorrow with a Monday presser. If the presser is Tuesday I will be pissed since I will be on the lake reducing the Crappie population that day.

good. it is many steps down. that is the point.
So is Strong.

Being ready for the SEC and dominating the SEC are two different things that is what we are explaining to you.

You watched his team win the game. Then you tried to minimize that by pointing out his flaws from the game without also acknowledging coaches all make mistake in a game. Good coaches win those games still.

You minimize Strong with an arguement, but then it applies to a coach you like so it doesn't count any more.

Gundy and Patterson are outstanding home run hires.

Strong is on a lower tier. Easy to see.

Patterson is waiting on Mack Brown to leave imo, really don't think Gundy will say yes. Not that knowledgable about Gundy does he have any SEC ties?

I think hart will mark a run at fisher and Gundy first but I think both will not accept in the end. If strong says no after that it could be bad

FWIW - Apparently Wes Rucker has sources close to Charlie Strong that said he would be very interested in coaching at Tennessee.

He said it yesterday afternoon on the Swain and Rucker show on TSR. Don't recall the specific time.

We have be really hung up on what hart said in the presser and I can't think of one thing he mentioned that strong doesn't have.

thanks...two in one. have a great night!

I don't care what conference you're in, winning is not easy, much less winning double digit games. Sure, losing two games against Big East teams isn't good...by SEC standards. Louisville isn't an SEC school though. Losses are relative to the quality of your opponents and the quality of your players. Mark Richt lost two games to SEC teams, with SEC caliber players, and I don't hear people calling him a loser. Tennessee fans would be ecstatic with 10 wins. Strong lost two games against Big East teams, with Big East caliber players, why is that so much worse than what Richt did? If Strong had lost to two Sun Belt teams or FCS teams, then yeah I would say that's a little disturbing, but that's not the case.

Think about this also, Louisville's defense gave up 24 points per game. Tennessee's offense scored 36 points per game. If Strong can bring that kind of defensive success to UT then they will be a force.

I think you are mixing up two different posters. The goal is to win the SEC and put yourself in a likely position to go to the NC game. Which of the following lists would you rather choose a coach from if you had the choice?

1
Urban Meyer
Nick Saban
Brian Kelly
Rich Rodriguez
Jim Tressel
Mack Brown
Brady Hoke
Jim Donnan
Mike Price
Pete Carroll
Dennis Franchione

2
Charlie Strong
Al Golden
Derek Dooley
Gene Chizik
Lane Kiffin
Bill Callahan
Tyrone Willingham
Tommy Tuberville
Gerry DiNardo

Strong is a good recruiter
He can coach em up (unlike Dooley)
He shows improvement every year
He has connections to Florida
He is a great defensive mind
He has a Basketball school in a BCS Bowl game

IMO It sounds like a great SEC coach.

Um when you fire a coach you wont be think about winning the conference the next year my friend. We need a guy like Kevin Sumlin that wins in the SEC his first year then we can worry about winning championships the next.

Also keep in mind that Strong beat both Larry Fedora and Butch Jones this season. Not saying that is an awe inspiring statistic, but for those that think Fedora is a great choice or that his offense is amazing, keep that in mind. I like Fedora, don't get me wrong, but he's not better than Charlie Strong.
