Each guy brings a whole different set of variables to the equation. If you would like to reanalyze those lists looking at upward trajectory I think it would be interesting. You're also using the 9-win test to lump people into groups with those whose resumes are not remotely comparable. Going 1-11/5-7/10-2 or going 7-6/7-6/10-2 are a whole lot more promising than going 3-9/8-5/4-8. Upward trajectory is huge.
And when you split off the people in your second group that don't have upward trajectory, you've eliminated all the failures. In which case your test has no work to do.
Strong detractors are hell bent on ignoring facts about his league and his record and attacking the guy...Hope you enjoy whatever it is you people enjoy. :hi:
Isnt hr headed to a BCS bowl this yr?I have never attacked him personally....just my opinion that he will not succeed here....what facts am I ignoring about his league and record....only reason he is BCS Bowl bound is bc they have an auto berth....on his record alone and with the schedule he played...he doesnt sniff the BCS...he is ranked as of yesterday behind 2 MAC SCHOOLS....
KENTUCKY 2-10 W
MIZZOU STATE 3-8 W
UNC 8-4 W
FIU 3-9 W
USM 0-12 W
PITT 5-6 W
USF 3-8 W
CINCY 8-3 W
TEMPLE 4-7 W
SYRACUSE 7-5 L
UCONN 5-6 L
RUTGERS 9-3 W
This is his schedule with the records of the teams....
57-81 TOTAL
I have stated previously I thought he was a great DC...just do not want him for a HC
Isnt hr headed to a BCS bowl this yr?
It is ok to admit that you would rather have a coach who has won 9 games multiple years.
It just seems to me Strong is equal parts John Chavis and Tyrone Willingham. Consider the following quotes about Willingham:
I think its a great hire. Coach Willingham is probably the top coach in the country. He gets his players to play hard. He gets the best out of his guys on and off the field. With him going to Notre Dame, where he can get better athletes than he can at Stanford, hes going to be successful and turn that program around.
"Stanford signs one of the top recruiting classes in the nation."
I see some of the same descriptors being used for Strong...
ok I get the Strong over Fisher debate....its a toss up...BUT...Strong over Gundy....NO WAY...look at all the talent that Gundy has put into the NFL....he can recruit and coach....he would be a HOMERUN HIRE...
I think he's in the same class as Sumlin, Saban is not untouchable but it'll take a little longer to get there, UT does not have SEC speed on defense plus things have to change with the administration or no coach will win at UT but I think he is the best option to get UT there and he is the best shot at saving this recruiting class which would set UT back even farther.
Strong gets you into The Carolina's, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. He'll also connect with the Tennessee High School coaches quickly
For everyone saying strong can't recruit go look up some facts. He is recruiting on LESS than half of the recruiting budget he would have at UT. Did Derek Dooley bring in top 15 classes to la tech? No! Why? Cause he was not recruiting to the university of TN. We have some of the nicest facilities in the country to go along with one of the richest traditions in all of college football. I personally think Strong would be a home run hire and would recruit extremely well here. He has a known name in the state of Fl and would have money to bring in some of the greatest assistants in the game.
The issue of your argument is that ANY coach that comes to UT will have the budget, facilities, and tradition. So, let's get someone with experience at the upper level.
