Just ask one simple question. Will strong ever challenge saban and bama or even beat them occasionally? My answer to this is no. Of course that is probably part of hart's plan, so strong it will probably be.

And you know the answer to this how??? Would you have bet Sumlin would have taken Ala to the woodshed in Tuscaloosa and should have beaten UF and LSU. So no you nor anyone else knows

that's just it, we don't see the strong argument here. what are the differences between strong and davis? championship caliber dc, and inroads to Florida recruiting can be applied to both.... davis has had a lot more success as a head coach.

strong is 9 years younger than davis? ncaa troubles for davis? those are on the horizon at lville as well

no not pending. but Florida forced their guy to resign and hurtt was allegedly more involved than him. it is similar to the davis miami shadiness and they partly overlap.

Even Florida had to hire a guy who would be learning on the job. That's how coaching hires generally work man. ND had to hire a guy from Cincy to bring them back to relevance. UT is a top 10 job, but it's hard to get established HC's to leave the programs they built. The Saban hire at bama was a very rare occurance that only happened because of his NFL experiment.

I will admit that my only reservation with Strong is that UF passed on him. I just don't feel like there is a legitimate homerun hire out there this year.

Yah but who would it be that noones thought of. If its someone we've talked about here but we haven't heard about from the AD that would be awesome. Someone like Patterson. It would be awesome for Hart to come out at the anouncement and say "sorry guys but we didn't land any of the names I had leaked out of the AD, we tried our hardest but we ended up having to settle for someone else" he then pauses for a little while, while everyone starts looking disappointed and fans in message boards get furious. Then suddenly he says "I'd like you all to welcome the new coach at UT" and out walks Patterson and the place erupts and the internet crashes with the sudden surge in joyous posts from vol fans.

Strong is a great hire for UT, i like him better than the other coaches on the list, Gruden has everyone on here starstruck, we have to start thinking who is out there we can get.no matter who it is fans need to stand with the team pack the stands and give the man a chance, judge the next HC with his W and L, dont call bad hire tell we see the team play..

Stoops isn't happening, Gundy and Fisher are more likely fishing for a raise than seriously considering leaving to come here. So REALISTICALLY who are we getting???
