How many people assume that having a black head coach = better recruiting since most of the best skill players are black? It seems to me that a lot of folks believe this to be the case. Ask Kentucky or Mississippi State how many chapionships you get from breaking the color barrier alone. Strong may be the guy, defintely a better choice than Golden on paper, but not somebody that's going to make many people do cartwheels if hired.

I think thats called racism. Ill take a coach, regardless of color, that can sell the program and develop players.
If Hart brings him, better not be for more than 2.5 mil
Ok well outside of Gruden there are no legitimate candidates that would get the entire fanbase excited and doing cartwheels.
Stoops is NOT coming, the only reason he's getting his name in this talk is to get more money from Oklahoma.
Jimbo Fisher has underachieved with the talent he has compared to the level of talent in the ACC.
Now that TCU is in a real conference, Patterson is not leaving to come to a school that last time around allegedly insulted him.
Chris Peterson will never leave BSU, he can continue to play subpar teams all year and now, with the "playoff", has a much better shot to get a national title.
Honestly every single argument against hiring Strong can be used for every other candidate, including Gruden. So if Gruden can't/doesn't happen he is the next best legitimate candidate. This isn't the past, now you can get tons of media attention by performing well at ANY school in a major conference.
Dont see where Strong brings great or even good recruiting acumen.
Rivals rankings
2010- 48th
2011- 29th
2012- 42nd
2013- 73rd!!!
Real superstar there. Guy is seriously unproven as a head coach.
I want to say I like Charlie Strong ALOT. I think it's a mute discussion, because Gruden seems a done deal now. That said I am not yet sure Gruden will live up to the very very high expectations people have of him. He seems to be an awesome choice, but he wouldn't be the first excellent NFL coach unable to transition to college. That said, I'm happy to have him. If you wanted to lay odds on success, Charlie Strong is a rock solid coach, and we and anyone else in the SEC looking for a coach would be lucky to have him. I wish he was still up for DC jobs, because combining him with Gruden....would be dirty sex magic. Hawt Hawt! That would be a dream team.
