sorry...will not support if he is hired....until he accomplishes something here....
I am tired of being a blind supporter and being let down...that was the same argument for Dooley....support until he gives you a reason not to....look where that got us....
That would save him from a crushing defeat at the hands of FL.
Oh wait, it would only save him for a few months until the crushing defeat would happen in the regular season to FL.
Strong is another Dooley. Do not want UT to settle. Say no to:
Strong
Jones

I say coaching is only a part of what brings kids to schools. Facilities, tradition, name recognition...
I say that the two points aren't mutually exclusive. They could both be great coaches, no? I haven't found any NCAA rule that says there can only be one great coach in college football at any one time.
I say, get the best coach we can possibly get to come to UT, then support him until he gives us reason not to. Hopefully the AD will do his part, and then the fanbase will do ours.
That is the one thing I like about Strong. I feel like he wants the challenge and is willingly to work like hell to prove himself. I think he is going to come in with a chip on his shoulder. Some of the other guys are wanting better money, better facilities, or more control. I think Strong wants to prove himself against the best competition.Skeeter posting this gem:
Sounding like Strong may be offered soon. Louisville has the money, but they would have to pay more than Tennessee to keep him, not just match. Strong wants to be in the sec.
To take your predictions seriously, I need to know if you:
(a) Picked the winning powerball winner...
(b) Bet the house on last year's winning superbowl team, before the season started....
(c) Are the psychic brains behind that Jamaican Psychic lady on the late-night 900 #s...
So basically you didn't have a good answer for any of my information.
24 - 15 is not a good record. I pointed out other coaches in weak conferences that didn't have a bad record like that, got great players.
I tend to believe Swain who said we would have a lot of kids looking at UT with Strong hire. I think that he would give our defense attitude. I hope that he would keep Pittman and Graham. Anyway I'll be very happy with Gundy or Fisher also..just prefer Strong.
That would save him from a crushing defeat at the hands of FL.

Are you drunk all ready this morning? I said FL will beat LOU in the Sugar Bowl. The point spread will be high
No prediction skills needed their champ. go back to the internet and come back with a better retort.
Even if I were drunk, I could spot the inconsistencies in your discussion. You predicted a FL beatdown over a potential Strong-coached UT team. You predicted that Strong would have similar results at UT as CDD had.
I guess the "retort" was good enough to make you forget your own argument, or represent it disingenuously.
It took forever for Strong to even get a head coaching job...Nobody wanted him to begin with and Louisville was the first to even offer him...Nobody would hire him and he pulled out the race card and the fact he has a white wife and quite honestly We don't need someone like that at Tennessee...If anything was to go wrong at UT and he didn't win here UT would be branded racist for firing him...We don't need that crap, Let him stay at UL...They like him there so let him ride that wave for as long as he can.
Here's the way I look at Strong:
1. He has a track record for building strong championship caliber defenses in the SEC. This isn't an opinion, this is a fact. Even the Strong haters have to admit his defenses at USC and Florida were stout. He knows how to coordinate a defense in the SEC.
2. I don't know what kind of recruiter he is, but I know two things that help him: The first is the 2 national championship rings he can flash. He can say he has the talent and the scheme to win a national championship. The second is the list of defensive players in the NFL that played for him. Name drop guys like Brandon Spikes, Ray McDonald, Joe Haden, Reggie Nelson, etc. Not that those guys are superstars, but he can say his defenses put players in the NFL. That's huge.
3. Tennessee's offense scored 36 points per game. Even if that drops to say 28 (just for example) points per game, all you need is a defense that can do their job and you will win games. We know Strong can coordinate a defense, that has been established, so if he can improve the defense even to the point where they're as good as Louisville's, which allows 24 points per game, you're still coming out ahead. I tend to think he could have a better D at UT than he did at Louisville though.
Let Chaney keep doing his thing on offense and bring in a great defensive staff to go with what we know Strong is capable of doing and we will see improvement.
247 update (2): Forgot to put in the other update...reports out of Chicago that Bielema was contacted by UT officials to gauge interest.
