Charlie Strong

Could someone please explain to me why they think Strong is such a great recruiter. If you actually check the rankings since he has been at Louisville they have averaged around the 40's in recruiting. That will in no way get us back to the top in this league.

I think the 24th rated class last year if I am not mistaken. That's at Louisville. He was a great recruiter at UF and USC.

He got curb stomped by Syracuse.

Didn't Nick Saban get curbed stomped by a HC in his first year at a school in it's first year in the SEC? The same HC that got beat by Les Miles who got beat by Will Muschamp who got beat by Mark Richt or got beat by Nick Saban?

Keep in mind that Syracuse, who beat Charlie Strong, got beat by Butch Jones and Cincinnati AND by Rutgers, both of whom got beat by Charlie Strong and Louisville.

It's college football. Upsets happen. Nick Saban isn't worse because he got beat by Kevin Sumlin, Sumlin isn't worse for having been beat by Les Miles, Miles isn't worse for losing to Muschamp, Muschamp isn't worse for losing to Richt, and Richt isn't worse for losing to Saban.

And you've just lost 90% of volnation with actual logic.

So wins and losses don't mean anything, huh? Awesome logic. You were a Dooley fan, weren't you?

I am impressed with Strong's recruiting at Louisville and surely he can do more at UT. He knows defense. I was impressed with how tough his teams are as well. Bridgewater had a gutsy performance in final game. Those kids played hard for their coach. Players quit on Dooley.

If a player has any integrity he doesnt quit on a coach...he quits on himself....I dont care how bad things get....you dont quit....shows lack of leadership by the seniors and intestinal fortitude by the players themselves....

IF YOUR GOING THRU HELL....YOU KEEP GOING....YOU DONT STOP

I just don't see all this great recruiting stuff.

It's at UL, a basketball school. He's not going to be able to recruit at Louisville, like he can in the SEC. No one can.

Questions about Louisville's conference affiliation have hurt them bad in recruiting. Not many guys wanted to get stuck if Louisville didnt get in a better conference.

Me neither. Someone said he recruited great at UF and USC. Gimme a break. If anyone is dumb enuf to think recruits went to uf or usc for strong, then we may have an opening for AD soon and u would be perfect.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think he was saying we need a coach who can beat Saban, Muschamp, Richt, Miles, Spurrier any given year. Not lose to all of them every year as Dooley did. I agree that Strong is a coach who can beat them.

So, yeah. This is why we need Strong.

Hatcher, Bell, Quick, North, Green, Wilkins and possibly Ramsey is the chatter. Hurd and TKJR have been rumored to jump on board early too.

Why are they only jumping on board if Strong comes here? It is not bc of his outstanding record at UL.....

What defensive player would have went to Florida for a high scoring Urban Meyer spread offense? Gotta have some reason for being a defensive gem recruit an wanting to go to Florida. Charlie Strong brought in those names. At the time he had to compete with Miami and FSU because they were at least all relevant and Strong won those recruiting battles

what in heaven's sake makes you think he can do this? Bc he has a 10-2 record against opponents who have a combined record of 57-81.....

Of course he is. From his record he is obviously a better coach and recruiter than Saban, Muschamp, Richt, Miles and Spurrier.

Yes, and because he's an elite recruiter that is in on elite prospects no louisville coach should ever be in on.

He's going to a BCS bowl in his third year at a basketball school. I'd say that's why, even though "why" doesn't matter, if they're coming. As long as they do.

The ignorance about Strong is ridiculous on this board.

Strong is NOT a big name coach. He has minimal HC exp at a low level school in a bad conf to boot. If we are talking about his exp as def coord or SEC exp then I challenge you to compare his history with that of john chavis. Cmon this is not for sure guy. He is risky at best. Not saying he cant succeed but dont tell me how he's better than all the rest. And as far as the race issue, thats just stupid. Do all the great black athletes that sign with bama, usc, oregon, etc. really care what color the coach is. Wake the f*** up and offer big money to a real difference maker or just pack it up and close shop.
