Charlie Strong

Which of our candidates - even the ridiculous ones - have a resume like tressell. That seems like nit picking when we are considering charlie strong, golden, smart, fisher, and gundy. Unless we have been hoodwinked then our new HC is one of these guys. None of them compare to tressell who did it in ohio. Freakin ohio. When the floridas and USC's of CFB were top recruit getters just like they are now.

Seeing JT's name has not been mentioned for an interview, I for one am glad that's the case. We are not in a position to hire a HC who would miss 1/2 his 1st year on the job. To even consider that is just absurd IMO.

Dooley was never a co-ordinator. Let alone a very successful one in THIS conference. The Big East is a better conference than Conference USA, albeit marginally better. Dooley wasn't even successful at his last two stops before Tennessee. Strong has had success and a PROVEN track record of recruiting in the SEC.

He's an upgrade and that's what most of the people on here were asking for.

Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

First of all, before you post, make sure your facts are correct. Dooley wasn't in Conference USA, he was is the WAC.

Go away moron.

Cincy went undefeated in the Big East and this year Louisville went to the wire to win the big east against Uconn, Rutgers. He may be a good recruiter, but it hasn't shown at Lou. Look at his recruiting classes

I agree but he has pulled some quality kids from south fl. while at Louisville.. And I was looking at his work while he was at Florida as well.... I know Florida doesn't have trouble recruiting but he was always one of there top recruiters especially in south florida and the carolinas..... You can never be sure what he will do but I just think he could recruit really really well here especially with the right staff... You have to look at the appeal of going to play in Louisville, KY at a bball school in the Big East....

Strong at current PC right now:

"I'm not here to discuss rumors, I'm here to talk about our football team"

So there's your non-denial.

He's not showing it? He has had multiple US Army All American's committ to Louisville to play in the Big East over schools like USC, Miami, Auburn, North Carolina, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Tennessee, West Virginia, and many others. Obviously he can't built a complete class based off of these players as big time prospects are not going to consistently chose to come play in the big east over a major conference that puts them on a larger stage. Still, the fact that he can pull any of these players is impressive, and the only other big east team that has done anything close to similar is Rugters, and unlike Strong, Rugters top recruits are from instate (During Schiano's tenure he established a pretty good pipeline at Don Bosco Prep).

Once again, I like Strong, I just don't think he is the coach that can pull Tennessee out of where we are in the SEC. We need a coach from a major conference which the Big East is not.

Ohio has the best HS talent in the midwest and all of Ohio's talent wants to stay home. It is not hard to recruit Ohio State. Besides, dude is a liar and I'm certain Hart will not hire anyone like that while we are on probation.

Okay, name those coaches. I've done much more research on this than you and I can assure you this is not the case.
First of all, I want what u want.... A winning TN football program. So I dont want this to be an argument, but here are a few to start with:
Smith-ark
Dooley
Chizik-aub
Embree-col
Phillips-uk
Holtz-ucf
Thats just from this yr.

Numbers don't lie and when you compare his winning percentage and quality wins to Jimbo Fisher or Mike Gundy he is clearly the third best candidate of those three. This is not to say he couldn't be the next coming of Nick Saban but at this point I'm not interested in taking that risk.

So you would welcome the program being in the NCAA crosshairs even after we are STILL paying for Kiffin? Because if we were to entertain that notion that's exactly where we would be. Spare me the record and all the success--Hart mentioned integrity during his news conference. Jim Tressel pretty much screwed that up himself, and that trumps his record. Tressel isn't on our list and neither is Butch Davis and there are many reasons why. I'd hire Petrino before either of those two.

Strong has avoided the hell out of answering the leaving questions in this press conference. I'm impressed by his ability to politic his way around answering them haha.

The midwest.....really? Cmon the HS talent is lower southeastern and west coastal. Tn could prob have best talent in midwest. I concede that he has alot of baggage but dont be so naive to think that our program, and every other major contender, isnt historically just as dirty. We are just better at keeping it quiet. But i think that will be forgotten soon. JMO

I say bring on Strong and let the fanbase begin the healing process. We have been divided for far to long.

I'm pretty sure it would still be divided and if he started losing bad early, it would be a wholesale fire.

Not sure who can unite the fanbase at this time. Gruden would have, but he was never coming.

Hopefully we get a winner and get move forward

I disagree. Ohio is a highly populated state with a bevy of talented players and outstanding hs football programs. It's a fact brother.

was just asked point blank if he would be at Louisville next year, stumbled around for 10 seconds with uhs and umms then finally said "i'll address that at the proper time" he's leaving and going somewhere this year.

For years TN has recruited well but never been able to coach up their talent. Even with Peyton. I want someone who can coach up the talent we recruit. A 3 star that is developed to their full potential is better than a 5 star that is not. I believe C. Strong can develop the players we get and he will recruit well.
