Sure they do. We just witnessed it.And yet, those highly talented quarterbacks and absolutely perfect execution are somehow missing for 11 weeks of the season until a Tim Banks defense takes the field? Sorry, doesn’t pass the smell test. Cellar dwellers don’t magically become monster teams in seven days between Florida and UT.
Well you're a crazy person. Coming into the season Kentucky, USC, Pitt, and Florida were all tossups and Georgia and Bama were both expected losses. We won every toss up but 1 and replaced it with an elite win. That is amazing.
I know, orange tinted glasses, but with our offense rolling into its second season with Heup and a defense improving with some really proven position coaches, I expect some good things from this team. 10-2 seems like a big jump from 2020, but then I looked at the schedule a little bit more....
Ball St- Easy W. And we play them on a Thursday night so we have more time to prepare for....
Pitt - They lost too much off last year’s team. If Hooker had been the starter from the get go last year, we beat them by 2 tds. Heup with 2 extra days to prepare? Forget about it.
Akron - Easy W.
Florida - Easy W.
Seriously though , they are in too much turmoil and lack talent on the lines and at WR. Didn’t they just lose a WR to injury? Better luck next yearlosersgators.
Bye - A little early, but good for a break before LSU and bama. Heup can cook up some plays.
LSU - Also a team with a lot of recent turmoil. Brian Kelly is just Butch Jones, Sr. and been able to hide that with Notre Dame’s weak schedule.
Bama - This one is going to be tough. Saban has a renewed drive after losing to Jumbo and Kirby last year. Look for us to play them close however. If they hadn’t gotten the Georgia WR, I’d say this could be an upset special.
UT Martin - Easy W.
Kentucky - We beat them at their place last year. We’re better. They’re worse. They’ll be physical, but this is a 14-17 point Vol win.
Georgia - They lost soooo much from last year. If this was at Neyland, I’d be putting money on my Vols. Heup has the team competing late, but the SEC wants a uga-Bama championship and the refs bail out the butt-sniffers with a bogus call with under 3 minutes left in the game. Every. Damn. Year. Bring your mustard bottles.
Missouri - Heup blasts the SEC officiating all week and then names his score against Mizzou. Expect 70.
South Carolina - These guys are already dead by this point in the season. Rattler has been crushed by the SEC grind and we play against a grad assistant. Expect 60.
Vanderbilt - Easy W. Students leave this game wondering how Tennessee has ever lost to this university. Expect 70.
10-2 regular season. With the SEC protecting uga and bama, my guess is they lobby for both of them to get in the playoff again (watch the one loss team win the SEC Championship like last year), so we are looking at a Sugar Bowl invite.
I know, big dreams, but I just don’t see 10 teams on our schedule matching our talent, scheme or coaching. Hooker is too good of a leader and qb and Heup is too good of an offensive genius. Our pace can’t be matched.
I don't disagree about the variance. Do you think we could have made in game adjustments once it was obvious he was on fire? Or just stay in base and take our chances he was going to revert back to his normal self?We had some excellent coverage at times, and they still completed passes. Like I said in a previous post, the thing you’re not understanding here is variance.
There’s no SEC game (outside of Vandy some years) that any SEC team would win 100 out of 100 times. Within each game there’s plays that could go either way that determine outcomes like this.
If we played that game 100 times, the odds of Rattler playing that well again are slim.
Could we have played better? Sure. But until we get to the UGA/Bama level of talent, these types of disappointments are going to occur from time to time
Here’s my post from August: I thought Bama was gonna be better than they are. I did predict 60 in the SC game, just got the wrong team.

Sure. But we still need to trim some fat. On the bright side, I doubt anyone is coming for Golesh now.I really think the problem is 99% of these people just don’t understand the concept of variance.
Any one of the big plays we made against Bama could have been negated by holding calls, drops, over throws, tips, etc.
The same is true for every play USC made against us.
You can’t judge any team/coach off a one game sample. This staff/team has overachieved this season and it’s impressive. We should all be proud
all those teams are gonna fire people. some already have. we need some firin's. tighten this thing up.Sure they do. We just witnessed it.
SC played their best game of the season.....by a long shot.
A small part of that was on us, but most of it was everything just perfectly aligning for them.
Like with GA.
Like with us against LSU and Kentucky.
Like with GA Tech against NC last night.
Like Arkansas against Ole Miss.
Like OK against OK State.
It happens.
No team is good enough to beat another's A+ game with their C game.
I think we can be thankful for the season, but I also think we can be disgusted with the performance last night. There is no excuse for the display last night. If people want to vent their disappointment they have every right to. The stakes were way to high to give that sort of performance. This loss will define this staff for years to come whether justly or not. And while most will be happy with this season and no matter if we over performed, the results last night tarnish a historical season
10th win comes next week
So glad there is another fan telling us that we weren't expected to be here so we should be grateful and happy about a garbage team humiliating our team in a variety of ways with a playoff berth on the line. I won't chill out and you can't make me, no matter how many threads you all start saying the same thing.
„Let the dust settle just a little“. said the citizens of Pompeii in 79 ADWhy don't we let the dust settle just a little before jumping to conclusions about the direction of the team? It's the day after and still incredibly raw for everyone, and the rumor mill is running full steam ahead - let's see what's actually going on before assuming the worst.
