Chill out!!!!

If I told you that you had to go all in on one of the two teams next week, every single person would pick TN. Nothing is a lock, but we are on the better side for sure.
Yeah, I was just poking squib.

But to you're point, I'm not so sure I'd pick us. Especially if Hooker is out. I haven't given up on anything, but that was a little more than "just a loss" last night. Something was broke ass and I'm not sure it can get fixed in a week without the Heisman candidate qb.

If I had to, I guess I pick us, but with quite a bit of reluctance.

You realize they’ve already had multiple big upsets this season and last, and that their QB was a former heisman trophy candidate right?

I’m not saying they’re monsters at all. Just that they had enough talent to perform to this level if the stars aligned and last night they did.

Until we get our talent on the UGA/Bama level of the spectrum, this will always be a possibility. The possibility that too many things go right for the other team for us to overcome

You are deluding yourself.

Not convinced we every play "base". We are one of the most aggressive defenses in the country. Like always we showed them a mix of things.
How many times did we bring extra in the 2nd half? Not saying you are wrong. Maybe I am not remembering correctly.

We blitz more than any team out there. How many times? IDK. But I highly doubt we just stopped doing that last night.

Coming into last night, Spencer Rattler had 8 TD's and 9 INT's on the season. He had 6 TDs and 0 INT last night. Let's not pretend we played a talented QB. He had forever to throw the ball, and our secondary was porous at best. I agree we've exceeded expectations this year, but let's not kid ourselves on this epic meltdown. If we do it next week, it's 9-3.

Thanks for the unneeded insult. Not crying and watched every second. It seemed we wanted to give Rattler a chance to make his usual mistakes. It became obvious early that he was on his game. Did we adjust our defense accordingly? Should we have recognized the need to bring pressure?
The 'insult' wasn't necessarily directed at you personally, yours just happened to be the post I quoted. But read thru these pages and it's staggering the amount of crying that IS going on. Fahr Tim Banks!!!!.... Our defense last night was missing a key element, Jeremy Banks. Is it surprising that it imploded? To me it isn't because as we have all known from day 1 is that we. have. no. depth. and more importantly we have a WEAK secondary. Errybody got all wrapped up in the hysteria of us being a super team because we had a shot at the CFP. Objectively, maybe we have been playing over our heads this season, and that's fine too. USCjr certainly did last night, but good for them. This is why we tee it up every week. I'm still very very proud of these young men and our coaching staff. I'm praying for Hendon to not be hurt too badly, and I will be pulling for Bazooka Joe with all my heart and spirit as a VOLS fan.

Yeah, he is just absolutely terrible. The guy was a heisman trophy candidate and a 5 star QB for a reason. To pretend he's not a talented QB is 100% ignorant.

And yet, those highly talented quarterbacks and absolutely perfect execution are somehow missing for 11 weeks of the season until a Tim Banks defense takes the field? Sorry, doesn’t pass the smell test. Cellar dwellers don’t magically become monster teams in seven days between Florida and UT.
Cellar dwellers?

Is there a worst comment trophy y’all are competing for today?

We should just randomly fire people so “everyone stays on their toes”?

To keep people on their toes is a terrible answer. To acknowledge that Banks was the third or 4th choice, that we now have a job that is 5 times more desirable than it was 2 years ago and a j that we can do much better at D Coordinator and DB coach is completely true.

What makes you think Banks is not a good defensive coordinator? His inability to win with a roster we all expected 4-7 wins from?

We all knew this was supposed to be a 8-4 season, we all knew our defense would catch up with us at some point. 2 years ago we wasn’t bowl eligible, we beat FL , we beat Bama. If we finish next week at candy this has been an extremely successful season. What we seen last night is a horrific defense that has been sheltered by a great offense get exposed. Nothing more, coaches didn’t forget how to coach, it just finally caught up with us. We are 2 years ahead of schedule and the future looks bright. It sucks to lose to SCjr but that is what makes the SEC the best conf in the nation. Chill out people and be thankful for where we are compared to where we was.

It’s not about the preseason but the present. This team did an outstanding job beating LSU , FL and Bama. As a result, they had a chance to possibly make the playoffs. With so much on the line, they played their worst game against an subpar SEC team. The defense was non existent against a putrid offense. While I agree that this team exceeded preseason expectations, it’s all about the present and what was at stake.

So we go from making the playoffs, to we was expecting an 8-4 season anyways . How does this make it okay! Had an outside shot at a Natty but it’s okay to lose like that because we was expected to win only 8 anyways . The thought process makes ZERO sense .

Exactly my point. Like X 1000

Well our HC probably knows a good DC when he sees one. Again Banks was his 3/4 choice behind an OSU position coach and the HC at Wofford. I AM NOT an expert on DCs but I generally assume that no matter what the 3rd down distance is, we will miss a sack by about 1.5 seconds and give up a long pass play. Also In 23 games I’ve yet to see Banks make an adjustment on QB draw. Im sure he’s an OK coach, but is he the Stoops to Heupels Spurrier….I doubt it. And there are 2-3 better more experienced DCs who will get fired from HC jobs this year. Banks was a desperation hire to go with a first time SEC head coach that was looking at an NCAA investigation.

And he increased his season TD pass total by 75% last night. That's pretty impressive in the 11th game of the season.

Sounds like Hyatt against Bama. Except Hyatt was a 3* who we all thought the staff might run off a year ago.

A highly talented player had an impressive performance against us. It would be like if a PG went 10/12 from the 3pt line and we lost to an inferior basketball team. Those things happen.

Why is this so shocking to so many of you? Did you forget he was good? Did you forgot that sometimes a team can catch more than 50% of 50/50 balls?

I'm not understanding.

I’ve wondered if people would be happier if Bama made their FG for the win but we beat SoCar?
I would not.

Why make they comment? Of course volnation loves this team and ecstatic for the win over Bama. But again, the frustration and disappointment is the fact the team played poorly (esp defense) vs a subpar offense with a lot of stake. Who is to say that TN will be in this position again with a chance to make the playoffs?

I personally don’t like our chances next yr or the yr after. FL, UGA and Bama will be better. Who knows about KY and the teams we play in the west. Plus Texas and Oklahoma are on their way to the SEC and i could see TN playing Six -Eight ranked opponents on any given year. Fans are upset as te played so poorly with all the marbles on the line, so to speak.
