We definitely benefited from an easier schedule than most others in the SEC. I’m concerned about next year. We will have more areas of question than we did this year, but I will wait and see before I panic like so many others.Tennessee doesn’t deserve to complain about the format because we would have shat down our legs regardless. We would have lost a home game against a formidable opponent because we really only played against one of those all year during the regular season, and they beat us fairly easily. We have hung our hats on beating a team that got blasted by a bad Oklahoma team and lost to Vanderbilt. And we only thumped our chests over it because their last coach was really good.
I said this when they started all this mess. You could have a 5 star QB or RB and if the O-line decides to whiff blocks because they don’t get the $$ those players get, it doesn’t matter how good the QB and RB are. NIL and immature players don’t mix. It’s going to be more and more common in the NIL era. A third or more of the players on every team are only there because you paid them more than the next highest bidder. No loyalty to the university or fans that support them. Seniors on this team have to be chapped seeing freshmen come in to more guaranteed money than they’ve ever seen…
His staff is uninspiring to the guys. How else do you come out so flat every game this year. They are not prepared and sleep walk the first quarter and half. You might see if happen once or twice in a year but this team did it every game. That's coaching and not demanding better.Tons of disappointment in the locker room from everyone that is invested. I think this is a direct shot at the players. I love it. We saw a lack of effort and want too. Big changes coming, I believe some of these upperclassman may have become stagnant and their lack of effort spread throughout the football team as we saw tonight. No leaders on the field.
Once you make life changing money, you lose that drive.
I was saying this in other threads! If OSU is much more talented then we are at pretty much every position, our ROI is absolute crap! We spent at least 16 million on this roster which is 2nd in the country, yet we aren’t close to 2nd best in the country in talent. So are we going to have to spend 40 million a year to try and catch up? Also besides RG do we have a coach on the staff that a OSU, UGA, Texas wants on their staff? Seems we aren’t all that good at developing talent, so we need stud recruiters on this staff and it seems we don’t have that either.
Also, I knew we were going to lose, every CFP contest I entered I had us losing. I picked us losing on here. So that doesn’t bother me, what bothers me is the absolute beating they put on us, to the point they could have named the score and beaten UT by 50 if they really wanted to. That’s the issue I have with it all. I can take even a 17 point loss where we held our own and got out talented. But again OSU could have beaten us by 50 and we were unprepared, made no adjustments and seemed to show no effort except for a few players. That is what sucks about it all and it was seen by millions of other recruits and their families all night long!
Ain’t nobody going pro after that performance. We looked like dog **** last night in all phases including the coaches. Looked scared as kids at a haunted house.
You do understand we were 2nd in the country(yes more than Oregon, UGA and Bama) only behind OSU in NIL roster payments? For some reason we limit ourselves in portal recruiting(guess they want the best “fits”) instead of getting in best players and making them fit. Just imagine how bad Ole Miss would be if they didn’t do it, same with Oregon! With high school recruiting I kind of understand being a little lower as we don’t have a ton of in state talent AND we sucked for so long this generation of players have no clue we were ever really good. My 16 year old never saw us compete with the big boys and last night debacle might not make it much easier. So at that point we might have to start overpaying everyone to bring in that top talent we have to have. I mean Meatchicken just brought in a 10 million dollar QB, maybe it helps, maybe it doesn’t, but El Presidente isn’t a billionaire, enough millionaires plus us regular folk giving to Spyre would make due!We don’t have multiple billionaires contributing to the program and we don’t pay more than the big boys or we would be more active in the portal with the bigger named skill players. It’s obvious who has the money and who doesn’t. We are barely top 10 in the recruiting rankings and aren’t sniffing the top 10 in portal players. That speaks volumes about our level of NIL
Coaching staff had 3 weeks to make some positive changes to the offense....They did not.....Ohio knew what we were going to do on almost every play.... They ran to our outside with a variety of offensive plays...It looked like our guys had never seen a misdirection play...Too many mistakes to list....A bad night in so many ways.
Heupel needs to give the football equivalent of this speech to the team. That NIL money really makes you care about your football program. Man, Mike Leach (god bless him) would get rid off all the chairs on the sideline if he saw players lolligagging around on the field. Huep should have done the same thing LOL
Oregon has got to be #1 now. They got bike money, Texas is probably near 2 now. Mich dropped more than 10 million on a QB
Unless haslam starts chipping in Pilot money, I don't think UT can hang there much longer
