Clay Travis: Vandy has as many bowl wins in past 2 seasons as UT had in the past 12.

73-29-5 all time against them......look at that and let it sink in for the Franklin homers on here. They just added 2 notches on their belt...only 44 more to go to tie it up! They will never be on our level.....NEVER!!!

It is embarrassing yes.....but people on here act as if Vanderbilt is the second coming of Bama East or something.

AGAIN.....Franklin ain't gonna put much more of a dent in that all time record than that.

He doesn't have too. He won the last two games, which is what is setting off all the women on here in a tizzy. Live in the present.

We're really only gonna count the past 12 years? What happened to the good ole days of overall? Sounds like Clay's on some good stuff. Glad you can count to 12 Clay, good for you. Next weeks lesson "Clay tries his best to count to 13, will he make it? Tune in to find out".

S*** like this is exactly why i want Franklin to stick around at Vandy. He's taken advantage of the two ABSOLUTE WORST YEARS IN THE HISTORY OF THE SEC EAST and ran with it. He's a very smart man if he gets out while he can, CBJ is about to put a beating on that a** and he knows it. He took over Vanderbilt at the most opportune time.

Good for James Franklin. And if we played as many cupcakes he has over the last three years, then we would be going to bowls too. How about that!

Austin Peay, South Alabama, Western Kentucky
Georgia State, Akron, Troy
Montana, Buffalo, MTSU

be careful throwing those rocks

44 years straight...all they have to due is beat us 44 years straight....and the series will be tied.

So if Vandy beats UT the next 3 years (which they WILL NOT, but just for the sake of my question), will your mantra be 41 to go? Meaning, you will still be content based on things UT accomplished before before anyone here was even born and deny the here and now? Sorry, but to cling to that is pathetic at best.

I've been a Vol my whole life. Well, since my dad took me to the 1975 UK game and I was mesmerized. I feel that we've been to the bottom and are climbing up again, but the point is that we are not even on par with Vanderbilt right now and I think that plainly sucks. But denying it just makes it worse. Anyway, put your fingers back in your ears and lalalalala to your hearts content if that helps you get through it.

reaction is all clay wants.

but as for vandy, sure thats a good record..theres 2 good wins in that whole total. its funny, beat crap teams and ppl think your awesome. get hammered by every top 10 team and everyone thinks you suck. another reason why we should not be playin OU next yr.

I agree except i think that's exactly why we should play OU...never back down or show fear

What bowls though? What quality bowls? Vandy also has two total wins against UT in their history. What's his point? Vandy isn't a good team. They are "okay" and much improved. But they also have an all American receiver. Without Matthews, this team would have 3/4 wins. That's the truth.

Be sure of your facts before posting. Historically, VU used to beat our azzes and make us like it. Neyland was brought in specific to end VU dominance of the Vols. Being a homer is great, but be decent and honest. They have far more than 2 wins in their history. Perhaps you meant just their recent history?

[Vanderbilt and Tennessee have played 107 times since 1892 , Tennessee leads the series 73-30–5. When the rivalry first started Vanderbilt dominated by taking 19 of the first 24 with 3 ties. After 1928 UT has dominated the rivalry with a record of Vanderbilt 71-11–2. The largest margin of victory for Vanderbilt was by 76 points in 1918 at Old Dudley Field in Nashville. (Vanderbilt 76 Tennessee 0) The largest defeat was 65 points in 1994 at Vanderbilt Stadium (Vanderbilt 0 Tennessee 65). The longest win streaks for Vanderbilt is (9) from 1901 to 1913. The longest win streak for Tennessee is 22, from 1983 to 2004] Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanderbilt_Commodores_football#Tennesseehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanderbilt_Commodores_football#cite_note-18

Why is it that so many people on this site use the phrase "butt hurt"?

I've never understood it, and always thought people who use it sound ridiculous.

Currently, those folks have a VU beer bottle stuck in their rectum. It's rather uncomfortable after insertion beyond the long neck section and the main bottle chamber enters. And sometimes the bottle breaks which it has the last two meetings between the UT and VU met. The pain is amplified even more with attempted removal. :hi:

Vandy's 9 victories came against teams with a combined win total of 34 games (average of less than 4 wins per victory). UT had 5 wins against teams with a combined total of 27 (average more than 5 wins per victory). Franklin has yet to beat a team who has won more than 8 games in a season. In fact, of Vandy's 9 wins this year, only 2 came against teams with winning records (22% of their wins).

UT had victories against 3 teams with winning records (60%), 2 of those had 8 or more wins, one had 11 wins.

To say that Franklin has a much easier row to hoe is an understatement regardless of the 4 point head to head loss.

Franklin is the second largest over-performing coach in the SEC, and that has gotten him attention. He needs to cash in before his stock falls. I see no way he can ever achieve victories over UGA, FL, and UT in a single season again.

Great scheduling and luck can go a long way to making a coach look better than they are.

There is, of course, a lot of great detail here, daj. Just be careful of the forest for the trees. The simple fact is before Franklin Vandy would have still lost all those games.

No doubt he cashes out now (too many good CFB and NFL jobs he would be in-line for), but he also leaves Vandy better than anyone else has ever found them.

Also, and I know I'll take a lot of flak for this, but Vandy is benefiting from the "SEC-effect". All boats are rising (well, except ours). Vandy, Ky, the MS schools are all landing good classes because kids want to play in the SEC because of all the publicity. SEC TV is just going to raise the bar again.

Well great for Vandy and Franklin! 44 more....if he can win 44 more straight against us Vandy will tie us up! This maybe the fact some of us are not overly threatened by Vandy beating us twice in a row....won't last....history says so :dunno:

Is that last part sarcasm?

Past performance is not an indication of future success, regardless of what people may think or want. When UT won back to back SEC Titles in 97 and 98, and the National Title in 98, who then could have foreseen humiliating 5 win seasons in 2005, 2008, a 6-7 2010 season, and 5-7 records the past three years.:banghead2:

For a lot of people in their mid 20s and older, the idea of Tennessee being a dominant force in college football isn't just a possibility, it was fact at one time, while with 4 exceptions, prior to 2008 Candyland had exactly four winning seasons of note since World War 2 that anyone would know about.

Now look at the younger generation, the kids currently growing up, in high school or about to go to college, the one's that where not around during the good old days or where too young to understand and comprehend what was happening. They don't remember the greatness of Peyton Manning. They don't recall or understand Tee Martin bringing home that National Championship trophy. They don't remember the 1985 Sugar Vols or other successful years under Johnny Majors.

All they remember lately is 6 loosing seasons, Phil Fulmer being dismissed, Kiffin throwing the team under a bus, and loosing to Candy 3 times since 2005.

Long term UT can and hopefully will rise to relevance again. But sad as it is, that doesn't necessarily mean that it will be next year or anytime in the immediate future, and unfortunately that doesn't mean that Candy can't take us out behind the woodshed and run up the score one or two more times.

Do you have to like it, no. But that's where things stand at the moment.

Huh? I think a top 5 recruiting class would equal a " rising boat". And while Franklin may have made Vandy a better team temporarily, they will never be a top tier SEC team and will never win an SEC or National Championship. Same for KY
