Why would that hurt my feelings? You’re entitled to your opinion. I hope those players get better, but I know, having watched 40+ years of UT football, that great running backs almost always flash brilliance early. Not that those guys can’t improve, but I seriously doubt the next Travis Stephens (much less Jamal Lewis) is in the current backfield.I agree we should take this kid but I hate it when our fans bash kids who weren’t stars as freshman and sophomores. Maybe just maybe those RB’s you listed will get better with time and development. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.
That’s not true at all….. he is not an elite rb but definitely a starting running back and we are lucky to have him.I’ll eat my hat if he’s 5’11”. I like the kid. He runs hard, but he just isn’t that talented. He’s a third string back who’s starting for no other reason than we lack talent at that position.
Agree to disagree. He is not elite. But when he is healthy he is a good starting SEC RB. His problem is much more about staying healthy than it is about talent.I’ll eat my hat if he’s 5’11”. People keep talking about Small staying healthy, but he had the same injury (shoulder) that is impossible to recover from unless you don't take part in contact at practice or play at all until it heals. He's not injury prone. I don't think most people understand the amount of pain he played with all last season. Then he balled out in the bowl game until the pain was too much to continue. As far as staying healthy, wasn't it really more a matter of Small having to play at less than 100% for the good of the team, which needed him. We didn't have the depth we needed to let him get the break he needed. All the more reason we need Lewis or some equivalent. Small is a really good RB imo. Some other guy might have been a pre-madonna. Small is a baller.
Stephens had 35 yards rushing his freshman season. Wasn’t BRILLIANT until his redshirt senior season. Why would that hurt my feelings? You’re entitled to your opinion. Really?that’s not saying much
