CMU Transfer RB Kobe Lewis (Purdue Commit)

Meh. Seems serviceable……he got beat out by another back and then got injured.

A grad transfer for a year? I guess. If he’s playing a lot, I don’t think it’s gonna matter much, because UT is in trouble.
Lew Nichols is one of the best running backs in the country though.

I agree we should take this kid but I hate it when our fans bash kids who weren’t stars as freshman and sophomores. Maybe just maybe those RB’s you listed will get better with time and development. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.
Why would that hurt my feelings? You’re entitled to your opinion. I hope those players get better, but I know, having watched 40+ years of UT football, that great running backs almost always flash brilliance early. Not that those guys can’t improve, but I seriously doubt the next Travis Stephens (much less Jamal Lewis) is in the current backfield.

Small is 5’11 214…… that’s not small
I’ll eat my hat if he’s 5’11”. I like the kid. He runs hard, but he just isn’t that talented. He’s a third string back who’s starting for no other reason than we lack talent at that position.

That’s not true at all….. he is not an elite rb but definitely a starting running back and we are lucky to have him.

Agree to disagree. He is not elite. But when he is healthy he is a good starting SEC RB. His problem is much more about staying healthy than it is about talent.

Especially in modern football and understanding smaller backs are more effective, even in short yardage much of the time (generally speaking).

Small is just fine, outside of the absolute freaks that can run like a cheetah at 230 (RARE) he is completely normal.

As far as staying healthy, wasn't it really more a matter of Small having to play at less than 100% for the good of the team, which needed him. We didn't have the depth we needed to let him get the break he needed. All the more reason we need Lewis or some equivalent. Small is a really good RB imo. Some other guy might have been a pre-madonna. Small is a baller.

People keep talking about Small staying healthy, but he had the same injury (shoulder) that is impossible to recover from unless you don't take part in contact at practice or play at all until it heals. He's not injury prone. I don't think most people understand the amount of pain he played with all last season. Then he balled out in the bowl game until the pain was too much to continue.

Stephens had 35 yards rushing his freshman season. Wasn’t BRILLIANT until his redshirt senior season.

that’s not saying much
Really?

So 11th rushing offense in the country is something everyone does?

Even though 110 OTHER teams couldn't do it...?

We have enough hazing "fans " on here.
You could be doing ANYTHING else and your chosing to be on here insulting Tennessee Vol football, ironically, in an area of the game that statistically they're not struggling in.
