The guy that took Lewis's job at CMU, prompting the transfer, is a freaking stud. Lew Nichols III led the nation in rushing last year with 1848 yds and 16 TDs, and also added 40 recs for 338 yds and 2 more TDs. It's a little surprising he didn't try and latch on with a major P5 school, himself, for a year for the exposure.I like him alot. Violent, Compact runner. Reminds me of John Kelly.
You’re telling me you didn’t know Henry was good?Thompson? Valiant effort, but not even close to Cobb or Webb.“Flashing early”? LOT of exceptions tbh. Without injuries, do Travis Henry or Tony Thompson ever FLASH? Jamal Lewis and Chuck Webb are the actual exceptions.
Didn’t “flash early”. Took the knee injury from Jamal Lewis. I’m sure there was some poor schlub sans message board that “knew” he was special but they were drowned out by other messageboardless individuals who noted the lack of stats. Thompson did more than an EFFORT. Given the opportunity he was a special back that season after Webb went down. You’re telling me you didn’t know Henry was good?Thompson? Henry? It was his 2nd year in the program, after redshirting I believe. It’s not like we have a small sample size here. Small got more carries than any other back. Even with Jamal back in 99, Henry still rushed for over 900 yards. Geez.
Granted…. I know some of that is the type of offense we run but Jabari Small averaged more ypc than Henry did in his second year….Small is a good back…. The staff just wants more depth bc they don’t feel like we have enough at the moment. You’re telling me you didn’t know Henry was good?Thompson? Valiant effort, but not even close to Cobb or Webb.

Sample size. Henry had two Carrie’s his freshman year. Today he would have been eligible for a redshirt. Sophomore year, leading rusher on NC team. I’d say that pretty damn early.Didn’t “flash early”. Took the knee injury from Jamal Lewis. I agree, He’s a good back. Hope I’m wrong and we explodes this year. The absolutely don’t have depth, especially proven depth. The fact remains that this is an area where recruiting has and continues to be down.Granted…. But he DIDN’T REDSHIRT and has to be judged accordingly. And in his SECOND season he didn’t “flash early” until Jamal Lewis blew his knee out. That’s the “sample size” YOU put out. Small, on the other hand, despite missing the first two games due to injury and battling injuries the entire season, churned out 796 yards for the season and 9 touchdowns…the most since John Kelly when Kelly was the only offensive threat we possessed! How’s that for SAMPLE SIZE. Extra bonus, he tied Henry’s 180 yard bowl effort (in his FINAL season of eligibility). If anything Small was more impressive in comparative SAMPLE SIZE.Sample size. So, we’ve already had similar sample size “early” with Small compared to Henry. No where near the same level.
I get the feeling you are taking this personally. Sorry to have offended you. Have a great day.But he DIDN’T REDSHIRT and has to be judged accordingly. It’s a disagreement. Misdirect on.
No misdirect. I didn’t say the kid sucked, far from it. I’m simply stating the obvious, that our roster, at that position (among others) is not at the level it needs to be to compete for the conference. You’ve basically tried to push me into a position that I’m against the kid which is complete BS. Small will have a tremendous opportunity this year to show if he’s elite. My opinion is that based on sample size, we’ve seen enough to know he is not a game changer. Solid back, but not ideally your starter if you want to get explosive plays from the run game. It’s a disagreement. Misdirect on.
This team desperately needs a tailback. Sorry if it hurts anyone’s feelings, but our RB room is weak when compared with rest of SEC. The true freshman is the only real SEC body we have. Small is, well, small. A decent player but nothing game changing. Same with Wright. Evans was huge loss that this staff has yet to replace.
You used fake science to cast doubt on his chance of future science…and I disagreed with tactic. Now you’re misdirecting my argument with a strawman that I base it on a PERSONAL DISLIKE on your part. That’s false. Quote where that’s been ANY point that I’ve made. I’ve used easily obtainable numbers and applied them to the respective time frames. What we’ve SEEN from Small is that he’s better than any of us expected and nothing to indicate he’s reached any ceiling on potential. Several of the most EXPLOSIVE rushing plays last came from the guy wearing his uniform number. No misdirect. I didn’t say the kid sucked, far from it.
