This!!!The majority of OL shouldn't be expected to come to campus and be starters, so in that sense, the majority are "projects". For both the OL and the DL, a year in a college weight room, with a strength coach and nutritionists and whatever else, is extremely beneficial. Truly, all players have to be developed and coached up, but I think line players is where that development and coaching are needed the most.
Or, they view these guys much more highly than you therefore they are willing to accept their commitments right now?Kid at least had SEC offers, and some BG12 offers. Makes more sense. But why take either this early? Im still lost.
Makes me feel like they dont have a ton of confidence in their ability to close.
So, what's the narrative we should get in line with? "The staff is in on a lot of 5 stars, but took a commitment from a three star"?When we're in on so many big time 4 and 5 stars? Our needs seem more immediate.
This guy has a pretty good offer list for people to label him a "project"
He's the #1 player out of Colorado? At least top 3? That sounds a little better than a project
Go watch his highlights. There's a play where this kid is making blocks on all 3 levels and he is motoring down the field in the process. This kid is tenacious. Being able to secure a recruit that is fourth or fifth on your board (which means they value him more than a lot of current 4 stars) this early is a win.Kid at least had SEC offers, and some BG12 offers. There's this attitude that rankings are pretty flawless and there is no room for talent that hasn't been "discovered" yet. It seems to create a huge dilemma in people's heads. "We're in on 5 stars. The coaches like this 3 star as well. <something, something, something> The sky is falling."Came to say this. Offer list quality and where he is located (bfe for major CFB)...suggests a rising discovered player.
He already has 4 Blueblood offers...let's be real...he's on the come up
Agree, though my only point of question, which started about 2016(?) or so is based on our huge number of offers these days. Pruitt turned it up a few notches and Heupel seems to have a similar philosophy of offering 400-500 kids, rather than the old 100 or 150...just weakens the connection a bit in my mind. There's this attitude that rankings are pretty flawless and there is no room for talent that hasn't been "discovered" yet. Let's break that down.
- We're in on 4-5 stars. Good thing.
- The coaches like this guy a lot. Noting point one, probably a good thing as well.
Panic to give == 0 at this point.
Narrative is that we are in on a lot of higher rated prospects. Why take these commits now?So, what's the narrative we should get in line with? "The staff is in on a lot of 5 stars, but took a commitment from a three star"?
What's the fear? That we're in on 5 stars? That the coaches aren't smart enough to subscribe to the rankings? That they aren't good evaluators?
Walk us through this, please.
