Coach Hype Monday Presser

I’m old as dirt, did my football playing in the 70s. There was a fight nearly everyday and the coaches seemed to enjoy it. If one disagreement caused all this drama, then God help us all. On Friday nights we would all play our guts out for each other. Things sure have changed.
Fights are one thing. I get it. It's not unusual for intensity to lead to something.

Taking a good shot at the star QB in a non contact drill. I'll bet you didn't see that go unchecked.

I will say this, when Saban handled the Burton situation in house after he appeared to hit a female Burton didn't miss any playing time.

We handle an argument or fight between two players by suspending one of them and put a game and CFP in jeopardy then proceeded to take an L.

I guarantee that 'Heup and Danny' aren't going to sweat having empty seats or feel the need to spill their guts because of the 'demands' of a few fans on an internet forum who take the results of a college football game as a personal affront.

Guarantee you that when we're at 4-8, 5-7 or 6-6 and can't put butts in seats in a couple of years because they can't manage 18-22 year old personalities and egos, they're going to sweat bullets to keep their jobs.
I question your loyalty to this university's football program.

That was a great presser. Sound was good and CJH was calm under pressure, and sharp as a tack. He is a leader and will lead this team through this, whatever "this" is.

A great presser for non-answers full of non-information. Attitude reflects leadership. Where was the attitude of the players and leadership of the coaches against SC?

I can almost guarantee that Banks was given an opportunity to right his wrong in order to make the trip and he refused.
Didn't know you doubled as a sideline reporters.
Who? What! Where? When? Why and How? Investigative journalism 101.

Just a hypothetical thought with NIL involved these days. If players are paid, they are responsible for their actions to their employers (NIL deals), team, and yes, even the fans. The level of responsibility as a paid player is lifted to another level in my opinion. I think things like this are going to become more complicated in the future due to NIL. Just something to think about.

Absolutely. There will be considerably more incidents because of the NIL $ deals disparity. The NCAA will soon become the Jr. NFL.

Any contract extension is put on hold. Force Josh to be a total head coach. Offense, defense and special teams. Recruiting. Assistant coach selection, retention. Absorb NIL issues and react appropriately. Effectively manage media relations and fan expectations. Pay him monster dollars for consistent head coach results not for incredible OC performance.

If Vandy even gets a breath of hope, Josh has got issues with this team....players and coaches.
Thanks for the humor.

So how did our defense hold it together all those other times? Is Banks really the difference? Second year in a row we’ve looked nonexistent late in the year defensively after losing to a Purdue team that spotted us the 3 players with talent on their roster. Maybe that’s not a theme and those are one-off circumstances but it’s still the worst defensive effort in over 100 years, including the Sunseri and Shoop defenses.
It’s not whether he was on the field playing or not it’s the psychological impact of what happened before the game!

It depends. If the rumor that he hit Hooker hard in a non contact drill is true, there's not much he can do to "right his wrong," IMO.

On most teams players go through non contact drills regularly and "non contact" might include a grab, a standing wrap up even, but IF he lowered a shoulder on Hooker to put him down, someone.... actually a group of someones.... should have shown him to the trainer's room.

Coach Heupel, Coach Banks, Coach Martinez, and Coach Jean-Mary, for starters.... should've all made his ears bleed.

I'm not sure you get away with a chance to "right your wrong" and play in the next game if you cheap shot a teammate, especially Hooker at UT.

If we find out he was suspended for hitting Hooker too hard in a non-contact then they should be embarrassed for that leak.

Rumor has it that they they used to tell Al Wilson to take a break from practice when he was going too hard. That is typically what they do to players who are going too far, but not suspend them.

The rumors are getting more and more outlandish and the cupcakes keep being triggered.

I don't see taking a cheap shot on the starting QB during a walk thru as being a "cupcake" situation.

Players know how a walk thru goes and know far better than that crap. It's not tolerable and it's not like "going to hard" in an open practice AT ALL. Maybe you've not been on a field much but cheap shots on teammates during a non contact drill are not "going to hard."

A cheap shot is a "man what the hail is wrong with you. Get out of here" at best. Not a you're done here and suspended for a game.

I can tell you my younger self would not have stood there and let the man just walk off after hammering Hooker in a walk thru.

There would've been a few throat punches and I trust the rest of the O Line would make sure they connected.

This might be a surprise but fights happen on a college practice field and the coach makes the culprit or culprits hit the showers, run, etc. Short of causing an injury they are not suspended if they are a longtime player.

But we are 9-2. How about let’s see how Saturday goes. GBO!

It was one bad game. Get over it.

I'm aware of fights. Cheap shots during a non contact practice ARE NOT A FIGHT.

It's a cheap shot supposedly delivered on Hendon Hooker during a non contact drill. I can see a grab, even a push, or a bear hug stop but not a solid hit and especially not on the QB.

C'mon. You can't let that kind of crap go with just hitting the showers and a few up and downs. These guys have done a thousand non contact drills and trying to drop your starting QB isn't an accident.

All this back and forth. Do you know what happened or are you riding the wave of negative remarks and rumors about Banks?
