Coach Jumper: This year?

Warlick said she wanted to increase their speed of play but that was before they lost 3 players... you think she sticks with the original idea and hammers the endurance training this summer or no?

Absolutely.
Ten, is still four deeper than they went last year. (Free kourtney),

Let em run.
This team is built for speed.
Cept for Cedes,,,she's built to patrol speeders.

This seems to be all the tangible and intangible things that CHW has either asked for or wanted.

I say it again,,,
Performance shuts em up!

Right now secrecy is keeping "everyone mum. If UT comes out the gate strong and stays the course, strong!

Performance will shut em up.

Mercedes looks like she has spent time in the weight room. Her shoulders and chest seem more substantial than previous years.

BTW, I don't like the nickname Cedes for Mercedes. The definition of that word is not a flattering one when ascribed to a basketball player.

Yup. Lost concentration after 111 straight. Fahr Geno.

If we use the modern "What have you done for me lately?" standards even our loyal fans seem to be adopting, Geno would be on the hot seat after such a "mediocre" UConn season. *eyeroll*

I do agree that the regular season is important. But basketball is a tournament sport. Probably not a team out there that wouldn't trade a perfect regular season for a Final Four appearance.

If you play in an easy conference and don't schedule tough, it's not difficult to have a 30-win season.

but then you're a friend of Warlick's, I presume. We've won eight national titles--the last a decade ago. The Elite Eight is not our standard. It's a lowering of our standard--by some--to accommodate the falloff in our program. When we get a great coach again, our standard will be what it should be--national titles.

Sure I'm a friend of Warlick's. Duh. Made that very clear if you occasionally listened to something except your own voice coming up with not-so-clever ways to put down the program.

There's no excuse making by me or anyone on staff. The goals aren't different at TN than for any top program. But when an Elite 8 is a failure, we're trying to throw the baby out with the bath water.

A million dollars is still a lot of money no matter how much money you already have.

Besti, I'm not familiar with what you mean regarding the nickname. It's one Mercedes uses herself on social media. Could you please elaborate?

You know... I was going to address that comment and then decided it was better not to feed the troll. Do you think Besti understands it's pronounced "Say-Deez?" LOL I think he was trying to make a derogatory comment like it was the word "cede."

Mercedes does refer to herself as "Cedes," and will introduce herself as such...and I can guarantee she wouldn't give a rat's tail what the likes of a troll like Besti thinks. Our Cedes is cool as fan. 💙🍊

What does getting to the Elite Eight have to with having/winning a million dollars? You win nothing when you get to the Elite Eight. It's a dumb analogy. The most pertinent point--which you don't get--is that different programs have different standards. We are not arkansas or south Alabama. When you've won eight national titles, your standard is a national title and competing for national titles; it is not getting to the elite eight. Ask the AD or fans of any elite men's program--Kentucky or Duke or North Carolina or Kansas--is their standard is the elite eight. Not hardly. This is not to suggest that I or any fan expects to win a national title every year--some years getting to the elite eight is a decent accomplishment. But when that is the highest level you have achieved over more than a decade, when you have gone a decade or longer without even getting to the final four, then you have a problem; then you have a program that has fallen off, which of course describes our program. We get beat now by teams that in the past would not have come close to beating us in the past; we've lost ground in the SEC; we do not play good basketball consistently--and yet you want to pretend that all is good. Please. I can certainly understand you wanting to defend your friend, the coach, but I don't accept the lowering of our standard of success--and no other Vol fans should either

We SHOULD be a running team. The best team in our history was a running, up-and-down the court team--but we've not really had a good running team in 20 years, and we won't this year, either. For one thing, we've got a big, classic center who doesn't run all that well. If we tried to run a lot we'd just wear out Russell too early in games. You can run with a smaller lineup, no Russell, but it is hard to run consistently with her in the game--and she is almost always in the game. We also don't have nearly enough depth to run. We have 10 players--but Harris is not going to play, Dunbar is not very fast and doesn't play much, KK is big and I don't think much of a runner and probably won't play much. What's more, we have only 3 real guards on the team--two of whom are true freshman. I'm sure we'll run some--but we won't be a "running team."

If we hold our leads we won't have to worry about Mercedes being on the floor of the whole time.

If Kortney can come in a game for more than a couple minutes at a time and get back into a shooter's touch, she can more than make up for slower foot speed. We need players on the court who can hold on to the rebound and throw a good outlet pass. KD has good hands and is strong.
:no::no: Are you watching the same Kortney as I am? I think you are blinded by her looks!

One of you is Blinded by her looks. But it isn't gule.

Courtney does have good hand she's also got a very strong body I've seen her body up against larger power forwards and she doesn't back down from them.. I wish they knew how to use this girl she's perfect for Hi-Lo she can play the low post on defense I cannot understand why she rides the pine as much as she does I really can't

For the very same reason why Nia Moore was not used properly. Kortney will graduate after 4 years as a Lady Vol under utilized.

One more season for Kortney. I sure as heck hope that Holly surprises me and makes me out to be wrong.

Free Kortney, indeed. :eek:k:

Is she cleared yet? I thought she was still waiting on doctors permission.

Best comment as to its post, other than completely ignoring it (it as in the poster, not the post).

It is just a typical ucon troll🤢. Too many of them on here; the dogpound just bans such posters/posts. That is one of the few admirable things about that place (ucon) I've ever seen. But I still say, I have met a few ucon fans and all but one was nice (elevator trash is everywhere). Of course, that was face to face so maybe they were reining in the bad manners/poor upbringing; I don't think it was, but using the ones on this board as a ucon standard.....👎.

Total embarrassment to their state and university....oh wait, how do we KNOW these trolls have any connection to the state or university 🤔🤔? May just be the proverbial 12 year old or the guy still living in Mommy's basement.

If something is up with her, the fanbase should be told.
Otherwise we will be watching her like we did Kamera last year....Wondering...and wondering...and wondering

Harris wasn't injured though last year was she? It was my understanding she didn't play because she wasn't ready to compete.

Is she cleared yet? I thought she was still waiting on doctors permission.

I hadn't known that she was injured. It doesn't make a difference though because she seldom gets playing time when she wasn't injured. Because of the circumstances that she is in.

I'm hoping for the best though. I see so much potential with Kortney, that I had with Alexa, Nia and others.

I was going to make further remarks but won't because you are the "be all know all" but there are some whom disagree with you and your analysis.

And that's okay. People can disagree. people disagree with the coach ...no problem I don't hold that against you.

But one thing I do say and believe is that kourtney if she's not injured and not still carrying that plantar fasciitis on her foot could be a very integral and very important part to this year's team because it gives us a different offensive look in the high low game. she's strong. I've seen her defend power forwards before she didn't back down. I would just like to see the girl utilized to her fullest not to her minimal.

If she still is injured and still is caring at foot and we're down the nine players again then go out and get some scrimmage players or get some walk-on players stop but don't play the whole damn season again with six players and keep two of them two or three on the bench and make the whole public wonder why... you lose fan bases that way stop
